Many appreciate the game's accessibility and action-packed fighting mechanics, while some found the price reasonable. However, longer than desirable loading times and certain aspects of the cutscenes were criticized by some players.

This game is like a love/hate relationship. Its definitely an upgrade from the last installment (J-stars Victory Vs.+), the gameplay is much easier to get used to, and the graphics are very beautiful. However, alot of the models seem to have this clay kind of texture that makes them look a bit fake. My only complaint is the laziness of the story mode, theres no emotion in the facial expressions when it comes to cutscenes whatsoever. In the end, its a great mix of popular franchises (especially the Jojo characters) that makes up for an enjoyable experience.

We will have another sleepless nights playing this game online. First we need to practice all the moves to get a little familiarize with the controls. Fight fest at its peak of fun.

This is a great game if you're a fan of Shonen Jump Manga or Anime. Fighting is complex enough that it takes some skill to win, although I've found that sometimes button mashers will beat you no matter your approach. This could've been a 5 star game for me if it were not for the frequent and long load times. Even for a rematch, using the same characters, etc, it takes just as long to load as starting a new match. Loading times between cutscenes is abysmal also.

I've been playing this game since it came out and I think most of the harsh criticism this game receives is undeserved. The combo system isn't deep but when you factor in the heavy and light hits can be performed in the air, after a side step, during a character switch, or charged up for a guard break it becomes more dynamic than some people suggest. The visuals are wonderfully animated and are always adapted straight from the source material. The attention to detail in the character builds is spot-on. For example, the character Marshall D. Teach takes elemental damage from every type of elemental attack. I found this pretty annoying at first until I got to the episode in One Piece (which I started watching again because of this game) where he and Ace are fighting and he says that the darkness which composes his body draws everything in like a black hole and because of that he feels pain more intensely than other people. They translated that into the game by having him take extra damage and I really appreciate the developers' depth of knowledge on these shows. I was a huge fan of the Budokai Tenkaiichi series so maybe it's because I'm more familiar with SpikeChunsoft's over-the-shoulder arena fighters but I'm willing to forgive the design flaws and appreciate the battle system that allows us to pit some of our favorite shounen heroes against one another. Even if the fighting system was as shallow as others suggested I'd give it a high ranking based on the fanservice alone. Keeps my attention by trying to increase my rank, collecting event items, and chatting with some buddies I made in the clan system. I will say the cutscenes are lacking, but I guess I'm old enough that these silent clips where you read the text at the bottom remind me of old days playing RPGs in the PSX era. Probably my favorite game of the year

Bought this game for my daughters and they seem to have a lot of fun playing it, they say it's a good game for anime fans and for playing with friends. Has a lot of characters to pick from and they enjoying seeing characters from different franchises fighting together and against each other.

    My Favorite Fighting Game

This game is a lot of fun. For those of you who aren't aware, the game is based off of multiple animes from Japan, so the game is voiced in Japanese, but there are english subtitles. The fighting itself is so much fun, you can create a character with your favorite moves from almost any character in the game. The downside is the physical traits of the created character are very minimum. There are options for eyes, nose, mouth but the differences are almost non-existant. There are plenty of costumes you can unlock via missions or by earning in game currency to purchase. There are no microtransactions! The story is pretty simple and un enthusiastic. The cutscenes aren't really cutscenes, but it's a fighting game, I don't really care. Basic story is there's some bad guys, you fight them, then you pick the next mission and do the same. Etc. There is a lot to do between the main story, side missions, and online as well as "split screen" multiplayer. I say split screen but the screen doesn't actually split. I was wondering how they would do it with a 3D fighter that's not side by side, but they did it well. The camera turns behind each fighter throughout the match, giving a whole new perspective. The downsides are the mission hub style set up. Instead of menus to choose missions, shop, upgrades, etc you have to run around a hub and talk to people behind a desk. It's not hard but it could have been simplified to menus, or they could have organized the hub a little better. The game also frequently crashes, and online loses connections very often. It's really annoying. A lot of the offline crashes have been fixed with patches, but it still happens every now and then. The game offers a challenge but it's not impossible like some other fighting games. There are points where you might start getting frustrated, but if you can read the AI and predict what they're going to do they're defeatable. This is the first game I've ever 100%ed. My first platinum trophy in my life, and I've been playing video games since I was a kid. That doesn't make this game easy, it makes it doable. There aren't any impossible or hidden acheivements so if you're a trophy hunter like me you'll enjoy working towards 100% on this one. Overall I think the game is great but could use some improvements. There are 3 characters in game that you fight (boss battles) that I'd like to see be playable, or at least be able to unlock their moves, but even after 100% you can't. The game isn't physically rewarding. Yea you get gold (in game currency) to unlock more clothes and abilities, but that's it. You don't get anything besides trophies for completing the story, no special unlocks, no exclusive gear, just the standard gold and experience. The online is even worse. The rewards are basically non existent. To put it into perspective you need 1500 gold to buy the cheapest thing and 30,000 experience to rank up, online will give you 100 gold and 10 experience. It's nothing. If you want to grind, the free missions (like side quests) offer a good way to do so. The characters all seem fairly balanced and there's only a couple of characters that if you come up against online and someone knows how to exploit their tricks, they'll be untouchable. These few characters will probably (and hopefully) be updated and balanced since they have an unfair advantage in the game. The computer AI on very hard and Expert is ridiculously cheap. They reverse and dodge everything, and do some outlandish things that may send you screaming. Again, they are defeatable, this actually puts them at a disadvantage because it makes them predictable. For instance I know when I press the attack button they are going to immediately use their ultimate so I will bait them into wasting it and either missing me or I block it. You can almost control what they do because they react to your button presses. It's unfair at first until you learn what they're reactions are going to be.

the graphics look great, way to many un-necessary loading screens, combat is well done, smaller character roster than I would have liked and the season pass is way over priced.

I only bought this game because I've been a huge fan of jump and wanted to play as the characters I've watched and read about all these years. As far a graphics and gameplay go, it's definitely not revolutionary but it is enjoyable IF your a fan. If you've never heard of jump, I would NOT recommend this game, the cutscenes and game mechanics might make you regret your purchase if you do not know what is going on and who is on screen.
