Have not yet used the ice cream maker.

This is the why I can not give the unit a rating other than "average ". However, I have had my mixer for twenty plus years with absolutely no problems so I assume that the ice cream maker will be reliable as well.

Thought it would be fun making home made ice cream, but have yet to use because of freezer space. I'm sure it works great it is Kitchen Aid.

Handy for small batches.
