Your house will be the new ice cream parlor
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Many many things have been said about this Kitchen Aid accessory, some are good, some others are just plain nasty. I bought mine back in may and I wanted to give it some time to make a real fair review. As per the bad reviewers, well, I must say that my unit came defective, blue coolant began to show just after 2 weeks. I just went to BB and they replaced it without any objection. Leaving that bad incident in the past, I must say this Ice Cream maker will make you happy if you are an ice cream enthusiast. Of course a few important things must be say OUT LOUD first: You need to follow the instructions to the tee if you want product durability and then, the most important characteristic you must develop is PATIENCE. It takes somewhere from 15 to 24 hrs to have the unit cool enough for ice cream preparation, then, any custard base you might need to prepare to make the ice cream mix must be "mellowing" in the fridge overnight and once ice cream is ready, you need, at least 10 hours for maturation on the freezer, in other words, if you begin friday, you will be enjoying ice cream most likely at sunday. The other key issue about home made ice cream shall be the cost. As per my experience so far, it will cost you approximate $12 to $15 (depending on flavors) for each 1/2 gal of ice cream. All that being said, reward will be like no other. I will paraphrase what my ice cream book author says: "HOME MADE ICE CREAM SHALL NOT BE CHEAPER THAN THE SUPER-MARKET ONES, BUT THE SUPER-MARKET ONES, NEVER EVER WILL BE BETTER THAN THE HOME MADE ONES". Honestly, there are no limits as far as how many flavors you could make, once you get the hang of it, the sky is the limit. Believe me, you will be rewarded...Ahhh and finally, if you don't happen to reach ice cream consistency (Ice cream maker will produce soft-serving texture right off the bat), for sure you are doing something wrong. With the Kitchen Aid Ice Cream accessory you won't buy any other ice cream carton never again, not at the supermarket nor any ice cream parlor. Welcome to the endless world of Ice Cream.

Great ice cream fast.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you have or thinking about getting a Kitchenaid mixer. After that pickup this to expand your desert making. This makes fast work out of ice treats. With no ice or rock salt and no hand cranking. Just freeze the bowel, add ingredients and place on mixer. Depending on what you like, you will end up with a soft serve treat that will compare to any high end product you can purchase. What is even better is that you know what went into it. You get to control the amount sugar, salt and even make it lactose free. We are really enjoy using this. Bestbuy made it an easy choice.

Fairly Easy to Use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This attachment works well and as advertised. Using some of the include recipes or ones found online, you can make everything from plain ice cream to gelato. And it's easy to taste the difference between homemade and store bought. My only complaints are that the bowl is large s drinking room in the freezer to prepare it is difficult at times. Also, although some of the recipes can be made quickly, you either need to leave the bowl in the freezer all the time or plan way ahead of time before using. Finally, you need to let the bowl return to room temperature before cleaning it with hot water. These are probably the same limitations as all the entry level machines so that's why I didn't deduct a star.

great kit
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Im lactose intolerant and always struggled with finding good ice cream that I could consume this set was my solution. I now have various flavors of homemade ice cream in my freezer. I did have to watch a YouTube video the first time I used it because the instructions werent very clear. Its easy though. Buy good containers to store your icecream in so it doesnt get freezer burn.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is such a versatile product. It's easy to use, easy to clean and what you can do with the various attachments and accessories is amazing. We've made cakes, cookies and even ice cream. Homemade ice cream is the best I've ever had. Highly recommend everyone who likes to cook at home to get a Kitchenaid.

good ice cream maker
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a good ice cream maker if you're looking to save space and make ice cream occasionally. If you make ice cream regularly, I'd probably recommend investing in an actual stand alone unit but for us, this is an ideal compromise. It's nice that you can just keep the bowl in the freezer and use it whenever you feel the need. Bad news is that there's a lot time involved....time to let your custard age in the refrigerator then even more time to harden the ice cream after it's done. You also have to let the bowl warm completely to room temperature before cleaning by hand. The ice cream turned out great though and went off without a hitch.

Q: QuestionDoes this machine require ice to make the ice cream?
Asked by Trevjh2002.
- A:Answer The mixer bowl is the chiller. Per the manual - It must be in the freezer 15 hours before each use. No additional ice is required. The liquid ingredients must also be chilled for no less than six hours for a successful operation. So, given the required preparation that is required of this attachment, it is not really qualified as a spur the moment, “Hey! Let’s make some ice cream!“ device. It’s not as handy as you may like it to be. But, it does the job quite well as it is designed to do.
