Customers admire Kingdom Hearts III's smooth gameplay, engaging story, and visually appealing worlds. Many found the game fun and a good value for the price, also praising the music. However, some players felt the difficulty could be increased, and a few criticized the voice acting and the length of the cutscenes. Overall, the positive feedback on gameplay and story outweighs the negative comments on other aspects.

Fun times and Disney characters

This is definitely a fun game. Some of the mechanics feel stiff but if you’ve played the other Kingdom Hearts game, then you know what you’re getting. It’s always fun to see the Disney characters come to life in this story and play alongside them. This is a long game. Some of the bosses later on become ridiculously hard even on normal mode.
I bet some people quit and never finished the game because of that. Just that they take forever to beat and if you die you have to restart from the beginning. So if you’re easily frustrated or don’t want to fight the same boss a million times, play it on easy.

Fun but doesn't really age well

I have had a lot of fun with this game, the combat system is colorful and satisfying, a great upgrade to the previous games. But it doesn't age well. Finding a lot of narrative really childish and awkward.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is finally here and it does not disappoint. While the story is great, it's not as satisfying for newcomers, but you can still enjoy it. The gameplay is chaotic in the best way. There's so much on screen action, and it ll feels great. The worlds are fantastic. Disney fans will not be disappointed. KH fans will get what they've been waiting for. Unfortunately Final Fantasy fans may be a bit disappointed, since the series takes a back seat in this entry. The original story for the Kingdom Hearts series is the main focus here though. And after all the hype, this game does not disappoint. You

Worth the Wait, Just sad that we had to wait

KH3 was 100% worth the wait, the effort of development and fluidity put into the game is amazing. For having a normal old PS4 and not the new ones with better hardware, the game still runs so smoothly and all the animations are beautiful. My only regret is not having a 4kTV or PS4 Pro to experience the game in 4k.
If you are not an existing KH player, the game doesn't do that great a job of explaining past events, you're better off watching some videos online with recaps. Even having played KH and KH2 but none of the handheld games in between, the refresher definitely helps to know what is going on.

Not the strong conclusion to Kingdom Hearts!

The good:
- This game still succeeds in charming your pants off, primarily thanks to the recognizable Disney/Pixar characters spread throughout the many colorful worlds. You can't help but smile when Hades 'poofs' onto the scene (voiced by James Woods) or when Jiminy Cricket hops up to offer some advice.
- The gameplay is really fun, with many different options to light up the screen with big-bang attacks (partner attacks, attractions, etc.), while also just letting you hack, slash, or shoot your way to victory. It's exciting, colorful, and not overly challenging even on Proud mode.
The bad:
- The story is convoluted/confusing at times especially if you haven't played any of the earlier games in the series. The dialogue is slow, the writing dull, and the cut scenes at times drag on.
- All the explanatory content regarding fights, magic use, form changes, summons, etc. is A LOT. And it all gets thrown at you early in the game as just simple text to read/scroll through with optional tutorials. It's all a bit much for a game that essentially boils down to a button-masher.
- There is definitely a bit of laziness that's evident throughout the game, and if you compare it to some of last years top games, it just doesn't have the same level of quality as those (thinking Nier Automata). Everything from the slightly sub-par graphics to the overly-varied menus and mini-games to the blank-and-a-bit-slow load screens. None of these things are terrible, but considering the amount of money and time that went into making this game they simply just shouldn't exist.
- To be honest, this game no matter how much I want to love it is a bit disappointing. I've waited 17 years (as have many of you) for this long delayed title. The game play isn't bad, but it feels sparse in comparison to all the cut scenes filled with recent Disney hits. Honestly it feels like Square-Enix didn't make great use of their creative talents to make a game that will live up to the Kingdom Hearts name. I remember all the hype, music and energy that oozed from the 1st KH in 2002 even in the commercial. The first and second Kingdom Hearts had their cut scenes, but they also had a strong story. Story that didn't involve peddling the latest Disney franchises. Even with worlds pulled from the movies like Frozen, Tangled, Monsters Inc, Toy Story, and Pirates of the Caribbean it's lacking in any real story merit. Sure the visuals are nice, but where is the game play experience and storytelling of the previous games? It just wasn't a cohesive mix of Disney and Square.

Early impressions have been very good, although for a game released in 2019 I had noticed some issues I thought were worth mentioning. I've noticed that the english voices have been done kind of lazily and I understand that a lot of work is involved in doing it perfectly, but this game has been in development for a LONG time and I guess I was just expecting 2019 level of voice matching and seamless conversations. Other issue I had was with movement still getting bugged out on uneven surfaces in the Environment.
There are too small issues I have had but the game has been exceptional besides those and is continuing to exceed my expectations in terms of character/story depth, graphics and combat.

This game has exceeded all of my expectations and they were pretty high to begin with. Graphics blew me away as did the story-line and game play. The great thing about the game is you can play it how you want. You can rush through it, you can search each area to find EVERYTHING, you can use magic and stealth, you can hack-n-slash your way through the game.....it is up to you.
Yes, the story line is very complex (and you should read up on the prior games as a refresher), but you can figure it out. I only play it for the Disney worlds anyway really.
Could not recommend this game any more.

An amazing upgrade with graphics and etc. when this game came out every single one of my friends was playing it. I absolutely love it. If you love Kingdom Hearts and it’s story which I’m sure you do, then absolutely get this game. Long love Sora and the nostalgia!

I pre-ordered the game as a birthday present for my husband who has been waiting a long time for the third installment of Kingdom Hearts. I was happy with the fact that the game was ready and waiting for me the very same day it was released, especially because from what I understand this is supposed to be a big game, so my husband was worried that he wouldn't be able to get his hands on a copy quickly. He was surprised when I handed him this gift. On top of the game which came quickly and good condition there was an added surprise key chain that came with it and my husband enjoyed it.

Kingdom Hearts 3 for a longtime fan of the series is the culmination of many years of playing off console games and suffering through a frustratingly complicated story. However, the pull here is still the same... you get to play a role in Disney worlds. In that, it certainly shines. For some, this may not be the pull... and to that I say, "why are you playing, then?" The relationship between Sora, Donald, and Goofy is second to none. My only gripe is that it might feel a tad short in some respects. There are rumors about possible DLC coming but I feel uncomfortable with that notion.

Preface: I have not finished this game, only about 2 worlds into it.
I’ve been a fan of this series since I was 10 years old. The combat was fun and of course the Disney tie-ins were great.
I like the same features of this new entry, however I can’t help but cringe at some of the dialogue. Voice lines feel very delayed, and the actual writing can be pretty terrible.
The pros of this game definitely come from the combat and how fast and fluid everything feels during it.
So give it a shot if you’ve been a fan of the previous games, I don’t think it’ll disappoint.
And if you haven’t played the previous ones it will still be fun, you just won’t know what is happening in the story.

The wait between Kingdom Heart II and III was certainly a long one. Outside of Duke Nukem I can't recall any series having such a gap between releases. Unlike Duke however Kingdom Hearts III does not disappoint or fail to live up to the hype.
The smartest thing Square/Disney did was maintain what made the series memorable while being able to bring it into the new age. The introduction of the newer Disney franchises into the game play helps to bring no small amount of characters that old fans, and particularly the new ones will know and be drawn to.
