Square Enix has always made impressive looking CG movies, and Kingsglaive is no different. But is it worth watching? Yes and no. The movie does a great job of giving lore info on Final Fantasy XV. There's also a series of anime shorts on Crunchyroll that focuses on characters from FFXV. So if you can't get enough of the latest entry in the FF series, watch this movie. Lena Headey and Sean Bean from Game of Thrones give good vocal performances, and the disc has decent "making of" footage for the movie.

Good movie with familar voices from popular tv series'. Seeing this and watching brotherhood, is kind of neccessary if u play ffxv, just for the back story. But my experience was tainted by best buy employees. 3 hrs after placing my order, this one movie hadnt been pulled for my pickup. The guy at the counter wouldnt go get it, or have some1 else get it, no I had to. And when I had trouble finding it and asked for help, I never got any help. Buy this somewhere other than best buy. They suck.

It probably would help to have played some of the Final Fantasy games, which I have not, so it took a little while for me to figure out the background story. It was entertaining as the story developed and the characters, who like everything in the movie are CGI generated, were realistic enough looking to sometimes forget they were not real actors. I bought this on sale so I felt I got my money's worth. It is entertaining enough that I will watch it again at a later date.

The best FF movie yet but...

I have watched all of Square Enix's movie releases and this is their best one so far. The action is solid and the visuals are really great eye candy which is not unusual for Square movies. The story suffers a bit and the writing can be a little weak at times but not near as bad as some of the other FF movies. As someone who beat the game (FF 15) I would recommend this movie to anyone who has played or will play as it fills a large void left out.

This a a prequel to the video game Final Fantasy XV. The story actually leads right into the opening of the video game (which I have played). The story is fine if somewhat confusing at times, and the characters are believable enough in their motivations. The CGI is excellent and fans of the series will delight in seeing the various traditional FF influences like the Malboro. I'd recommend it primarily to fans of Final Fantasy, especially FFXV.

**Spoiler free** This movie was a joy sit down to. It has a solid plot tied to, but not integral to the game. The visuals and aesthetics are incredible as one comes to expect from a Square Enix title. There is a bit of that early 2000's K-pop attire and dramatization that comes with your standard final fantasy game. And a certain unnamed car company couldn't be more transparent with the marketing. But overall worth the buy. Would recommend.

This edition includes not only the film, but also the animated series that is free to view on YouTube, but also extended for the Blu Ray. The animated series Brotherhood includes extra scenes, which was the rumored 6th episode. You will get that, but at a price. The violence in episode 5 is black and white, and sometimes blacked out. Also includes the japanese audio commentary but no subtitles to let us know what the developers are talking about. This is currently the only edition to acquire the anime.

FFXV: Kingsglaive tells a setting up story to the fall of the kingdom of Lucis from which the main character of Final Fantasy 15 is a prince of. This movie gives context for the events surrounding the upcoming game. This movie has in it all the key trappings of Final Fantasy. There's excellent CGI graphics, magic, summons, and a great story. It's a two hour ride of gorgeous visuals and a compelling original story. Definitely worth a watch for any major FF fan looking to pick up FFXV next month.

    Nearly required watching for FFXV

Kingsglaive occurs in the moments slightly before and during the first chapter of FFXV. In the game, you follow Prince Noctis, but in the film, you follow the King as well as Lady Lunafreya and the events that trigger the main story of FFXV. Without watching the movie first, you can get an idea of the point of FFXV over time, but you really only see glimpses. Kingsglaive is nearly required watching to understand all the story lines that occur throughout FFXV clearly.

If you are a Final Fantasy fan and ready to play Final Fantasy XV you will probably enjoy the prequel of the game story line. The graphics in this movie are AMAZING and very details. When I watched it totally blew my mind away how much work these guys have put into for this movie. Overall it was great and I would say buy it if you are a one of the Final Fantasy fan that keep the collections.

After playing FFXV, I was really interested in seeing how this tragic story began. Kingsglaive really filled in a lot of gaps that otherwise gamers would be unaware of. I was particularly impressed with the scenes depicting The Old Wall. The reason why I only have it rated at four stars is because it lacked character development for a few individuals. Otherwise it was a great purchase.

This is the first time that Square has pushed a movie tied directly to a game as far as I know. As expected, it has beautiful cinematic quality but the movie and game are such a sad story. The game could have drawn a little more from the movie plot to fill in some gaps but overall a great combination. Purchasing at Best Buy was even less costly than popular online/streaming retailers which added valued to me.

The movie was fantastic. This movie does contain very important moments for the FF15 story, however it does work very well as a self contained story. Visuals: This simply looks amazing, the visuals have so much details that I very much I saw everything and caught all the details. Creatures are gorgeous and despite some weird looking facial moments to me, it just looks fantastic lets not forget the fights more incredible.

anticipated for the ffxv game in november? you should get and watch this movie then. it tells the story of noctis's father king regis. excellent idea for the game developer to do a side movie and game. the steel book edition also contain a bonus did for the anime brotherhood. even though it is free to stream, its not bad to have it on disc. great CG and i am impressed with the movie. but still not comparable to FFVII

The visuals in this movie are fantastic and the story is also enjoyable. It tells the tale of events before the Final Fantasy XV game which definitely adds a lot to the game. I had originally started to play the game first, but it would have been better to have seen this movie first. My main complaint about the movie is that the voices and the lips do not always match up 100% which some can find annoying.

Happened upon this during a random trip to Best Buy, and since I was unable to see the movie in theaters during it's original run, this was an absolute treat to find! Not only are you getting the movie, but you are also getting the "FFXV: Brotherhood" anime along with this, all wrapped inside a beautifully constructed steelbook case. It's perfect for a collector of Final Fantasy goods such as myself.

    FF15 Hype!

This game has gotten a bit of harsh criticism by many review sites. I think this is a bit unjustly. This movie serves as a prequel to many of the events in Enix's upcoming game, FF15. Even if you watch this as a stand alone film, it's still great. For 11.99, it's worth a chance!

Amazing CG and art direction creates an immersive world with talented voice acting. This is an absolute must see for any FFIV fan as it sets up the game directly and make you care about the world Square Soft created. Make no mistake this is the only good Final Fantasy movie as it has a plot anyone can follow, unlike the mess that was Advent Children and the first Final Fantasy movie.

I started playing the first couple of chapters of FFXV before I decided to watch this movie. It does a great job of explaining Noctis' father and Lunafreya's role better. It gives the player a more full understanding of what's going on. The voice acting is good. The graphics aren't bad. I think it's a must watch for anyone playing the game.

The Movie That Should Have Been Cutscenes

This movie is what you get when you cut a bunch of cutscenes from a game in an attempt to make some money. Everything seen in this movie should have been apart of Final Fantasy 15, because the game suffers from lacking the story that is presented here. So if you are interested in the game, I highly recommend watching this movie, though don't go in expecting too much. The acting is great and the visuals are mostly great to look at, but the lip syncing is off the majority of the time, sometimes horrifically so. There isn't anything mindblowing with the story, but the characters are interesting enough to keep your attention. If you're a fan of Final Fantasy, you probably won't regret picking this up. You may only watch it once or twice and then place it in the collection pile, but it's worth the watch. If you're not a FF fan, and you have no intention of playing FF15, I can not recommend this movie.
