Coming from a 16-year old GE Monogram side-by-side, it’s very interesting to see what $4k buys you in a frig today vs 16 years ago. I was limited to a specific size to slide into my custom cabinetry, with a very specific door hinge clearance on one side, and of my few optiona this seemed to be the best option in a french-door upgrade. First the good stuff: it’s incredibly spacious, the bottom freezer works much better for me than on a side-by-side with my side clearance, and the lighting is fantastic. The PrintShield finish is so good that I will eventually replace all of my old fingerprint-gathering Monogram appliances for PrintShield ones. The ice/water dispenser is WAY better than on my old Monogram, taller and easier to use, and I love the premium small cube size of ice. I LOVE having easy access to the ice storage bin right on the door. The Favorite/Measured Fills are a really nice touch that I use almost every day, and the Fresh Seal/filter system seems to keep my fruits much longer than before. Finally, this guy gets COLD....I had to bump up the temp a bit from the recommended temp as things in the back were freezing! Now the not-so good: it’s very loud. It hums way more than my Monogram, which was near-silent, and the ice maker is crazy loud, which is understandable given that it’s now on the door instead of buried deep in the freezer. I’m guessing that materials and insulation are not what they were in past, at least not at this price point. The sliding-back middle shelf for tall items is a bad design as the shelf is not flush when extended.....they should have just included one split shelf for taller items. The wood interior trim pieces are a strange design choice, but not worth paying the extra to get the Jenn Air version without it. Speaking of strange design choices, the curved-front freezer and handle makes no sense when paired with straight refrigerator doors and handles. Lastly, you can set the temperatures of the frig and freezer, but there is no temp gauge to tell you the actual temperature inside either. You just have to trust that the refrigerator is keeping the temperature at the settings you have selected. All-in-all I’m happy with the purchase, and would recommend it to others, but not necessarily as a value purchase.

My wife wanted this fridge because it looked pretty. Counter depth makes it seem small as there is little depth. I like that it is wide so everything is easier to get to. There are a lot of configuration and doohickeys that I have not gotten around to exploring after only 1 week of use. Lots of door storage. In door ice maker and water dispenser are good. The lock feature for the external dispenser will probably turn out to be useful with my small children. The ice bin is small and slow to make new ice. If you have ice eaters then you will likely be turning on the "max ice" feature often. If guests come over the ice will be out by the end of the night. It does produce a audible humming/buzzing sort of sound. Not loud, but always there and noticeable. It would drive me crazy if my room was nearby or if I lived in a loft. I did see something about turning off an energy saving feature to reduce noise, but have not tried anything. If I had chosen, I would get the a full size or something with a bigger ice maker.

Compared to the options out there on the market, this is the best. We purchased a Samsung 5 years ago, which was a beautiful fridge, however it’s ice maker (like that of every Samsung out there) was malfunctioning from year 1 and died all together in year 3. Our neighbor has had this KitchenAid fridge for 2-3 years and it is holding up excellent. Pro’s: beautiful design; good space for the size; excellent and (most importantly) FUNCTIONAL ice maker that per our neighbor’s experience, seems to be durable - makes a lot more ice and faster than GE models we have seen at other friends’/families’ houses Con’s: there is a moderately loud humming sound ~ 50% of the time, not correlating with when the compressor is running, so I really don’t know what the sound is - it’s not so loud that we want to return the fridge, but just louder than any other fridge we’ve had. Our biggest complaint is more of a one-time event and would have been no big deal if it was just advertised on the front end - every fridge maker says “don’t use until 24 hours”, and true, the temperature won’t be reliably consistent until that time, but every other fridge we’ve ever had, if you plugged it in warm, was at least somewhat cool inside fairly quickly. This one has some setting where it waits until the freezer is 100% to temperature before even turning on the fridge portion of the cooling mechanism. That took over 12 hours. We thought the fridge was broken at first. We had to throw away close to $300 of food. Never had to do that with fridge turnovers before. As long as you know that and prepare ahead to have coolers or just scale way down your food, it’ll be a non-issue… was just unpleasant to learn the hard way. Hopefully this knowledge helps others prepare better. So, all in all, a great fridge. Could be better for the giant price tag, but what out there couldn’t? We are satisfied with the purchase.

I love this fridge don’t get me wrong purchased in 21 with 5 year geek quad protection. Went to work last week on Monday get a call 5 hrs later fridge quit working. Dealing with geek squad first was awesome came out in two days and diagnosed the fridge with a bad compressor. Had an appointment with 3rd party for repair Friday between 8am-5pm husband took off work. Really needed the fridge and was expecting a resolution not a no call no show. Tech came out Sunday and just to diagnose the fridge again but as a bad control board. Now we’re on the mercy of waiting two plus weeks if not longer to have a working fridge again. I went with this fridge due to the quality put in kitchen aid products and purchased geek squad protection for reassurance. I’ve never had any issues with geek squad til it came for a time sensitive issue of not having a working fridge for a possible month. This fridge is amazing but when something happens to a fridge be prepared to not have a fridge for a long time.

Overall we like the aesthetics of the refrigerator. No issues with keeping food cold or frozen. But, the ice maker and water dispenser has been an ongoing issue since 2 months after purchase. We have had kichenaid authorized repairmen out 3 times. They replaced the ice bucket, the controller board, and fixed nothing on the third visit. I have personally replaced the ice bucket three times and replaced the ice tray mechanism once. Three years later, it makes ice but will not dispense the ice from the bucket. It also randomly locks the water dispenser. It is a like using a magic 8 ball, “will I get water this time?”, “Answer is not currently clear.” Seems from my extensive research and experience with this fridge, that this is a common issue and kitchenaid is refusing to do anything about it.

Overview: This KitchenAid is a Gorgeous fridge that'll look fantastic in just about any kitchen. But as with anything that costs $4000, not every aspect of it is worth it. Pros: + Looks fantastic, inside and out. + Keeps your food cold. + Usages of space is good. You get 4 Drawer fridge functionality in a classic 3-Door + If you act like a tool, it'll last as long as you let it. + Handles are so much better than the market average. Cons: - Price is obviously very high - Fridge is pretty noisy for a refrigerator - Upon first setup, the refrigerator will take a while to reach appropriately cool temperatures in the fridge. So don't keep any food around that cant be left refrigerated when upgrading from your current model. Ours took 4-5 hours. - Bells and whistles feel pretty lacking for the price tag. Overall: You're going to buy this fridge cause you love how it looks. It utilizes space well and does its job. But you'll be paying a premium and the fridge isn't without its faults. Try to get it on a sale if you can. Make sure you plan ahead with your current food when upgrading.

I just got the KitchenAid 23.8 Cu. Ft. French Door Counter-Depth Refrigerator in PrintShield stainless, and I’m impressed. It looks sleek in my kitchen — the PrintShield finish actually resists fingerprints well, so it stays clean without constant wiping. The counter-depth fit makes it flush with my cabinetry, which I love. Inside, it’s spacious, the layout is smart — the drawer is great for deli meats and cheeses, shelves are solid, and the lighting is bright. Cooling is even, food stays fresh, and the compressor is relatively quiet. It runs smoothly and looks premium. Totally worth it if you want function + style.

    Great Refrigerator

We've had this refrigerator for about a month and so far are very happy with it. It is very quiet in general, but you can briefly hear the water fill the ice tray for about 10 seconds if it is very quiet in the room. The refrigerator capacity is very large and can fit a lot of large size containers. My only criticism would be that it does not have enough space for tall bottles and you can't adjust the shelves height. The drawers are amazing, they glide smoothly and close gently. The freezer has a large capacity and very sturdy drawers. The sliding trays are very helpful to keep things organized. The water and ice dispensers work very well. We all like the small ice cubes but they tend to come flying off sometimes at the end of filling our glasses. This is our first French door refrigerator, we're a little disappointed that the doors, especially the left one, tend to slam if you are not careful when closing them. It takes some getting used to. One has to consciously close both doors slowly. Not sure if this is a design flaw or all French door refrigerators have a similar problem with door closure. The interior silver is very trendy. The lighting is bright so you can easily see everything inside. The outside appearance is beautiful and the counter depth makes it look almost like a built-in refrigerator. Very happy with our new fridge!

its great that is counter length and its nice looking. I love the settings and the Meat defrost tray. Outside does not get fingerprints often and its easy to clean. no special products needed. Issues I am having 2 years later. The glass section at the top of the doors has gunk in the edges and I cant remove it. The water overflow for the water dispenser cannot be removed to be cleaned and the ice maker keeps breaking.

The perfect counter-depth unit for a tight space

This is a PREMIUM refrigerator, from top to bottom. We really like it. The top section is incredibly spacious and versatile, and offers plenty of storage in multiple forms. Much more than we had in our old side-by-side unit. The adjustable mid-shelf is nice for when you need to store tall items such as bottles or large jars of stuff. On top of all that, the charcoal-silver interior with LED lighting and wood-grain accents creates a very premium aesthetic that just feels very nice and futuristic. The water and ice dispenser works great, no complaints there. The freezer on the bottom is typical of most bottom pull-out freezers. The trays are somewhat handy for limited organization, but at the end of the day, you're just piling things in there anyways. I've entertained the idea of just taking the trays out to make more room… but we'll see. One last note -- this is a counter-depth fridge, and that really matters in small kitchens with limited space, where the fridge cutout is nestled alongside cabinetry or otherwise limited in its depth. The depth measurements between counter-depth and full-depth may not seem that drastic, but they really are. Additionally, you may also need to look at door clearance on the side of the unit when opened. A lot of refrigerator models will add to their width by a few inches when the doors are opened… which can be another problem in a tight space or if one side of the fridge is against a wall. This KitchenAid has the door hinges arranged in such a way that when the doors are opened, they still remain nearly-flush with the sides (adding less than 0.75" of extra width when open). Overall, I am extremely pleased with this purchase. It was more expensive than most other options we looked at, but at the end of the day, it was worth it.

Overall performance has been good, but I'm having a problem with the water dispenser. It dispense water 95% of the time but does not work at random times. Servicemen has not found the problem as of yet, but I assume it will be fixed during next service call or the unit will have to be replaced. The unit keeps food very fresh and it has a very clean look. I believe i will be satisfied with the refrigerator when the water dispenser is repaired.

    Noisy and temperature fluctuation.

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

We've had this unit since the beginning of the year and while we do like the fridge, there are a few things that disappoint us. It constantly makes a loud buzzing sound when running. The technician said it's operating normally and mentioned that in the past KitchenAid suggested owners put a rubber mat underneath the refrigerator to absorb the noise, however it never worked. Had I heard this noise in the showroom, I would have reconsidered because you can easily hear it in our kitchen and living room. Second, the temperature varies between shelves. The wooden slide out drawer will read 30° F while the top shelf will read 45° F. Both of these temps go even higher when the unit is not running with the top shelf in the 50's. My 13 year old Kenmore, which is in my garage, does not operate like this, yet the technician states our new KitchenAid is operating normally. The main thing I like about the refrigerator is that it allows you to have a built-in look, within a cabinet enclosure and requires a 1" space in the back. It even has a 1" fin attached to the back of the refrigerator, with a sticker stating not to remove the fin, to ensure the 1" space in the back. This was a deciding factor in purchasing this unit since it allowed us to achieve the look we wanted. We just wish it was quieter.

Good looking refrigerator... You get what you pay for. If I had to do it again I would not purchase the Geek Squad Warranty. You can get an OEM Kitchen Aide Warranty for the same price but that was not explained to us at the time of purchase. It also takes quite awhile to get cold on initial start up; noisy ice maker. Decent storage space for a counter depth. The worst part was the delivery service utilized by the Torrance Pacific Sales. ABC Appliance Installation. Very nice guys but Somewhat Low Budget Delivery Service. There was only one experienced tech on moving and installation but no knowledge of the product we purchased causing much consternation and troubleshooting to get it working.

The Most Beautiful Pile of Garbage - My Kitchenaid

    Posted .

Wait for the plot twist at the end. Let me set the scene: a brand-new fridge that promises the world and delivers… well, mostly headaches and spoiled milk. In the four tumultuous years of our relationship, this fridge has been on vacation for a whopping 14 months—out cold (or should I say, out warm?) thanks to a delightful assortment of breakdowns. From a sassy thermistor to rebelliously frozen coils, and let’s not forget a four-month COVID repair hiatus. That’s right, folks, it’s been a non-operational decor piece for 25% of its life since 2019! But let’s not be all doom and gloom. When it decides to work, this fridge is a stunner. It cools so evenly you could store your hopes and dreams in there and they’d never spoil—unlike my groceries. And the lighting? Chef’s kiss! You’ll be able to see your food spoil in high definition. And sure, you could drop $10k on a fridge that actually works, but why miss out on this rollercoaster of emotions at your regular, everyday appliance store? The temperature precision is spot on—you ask for 34°F, you get 34°F in every nook and cranny. It’s like the Bermuda Triangle; things go in fresh and disappear… into a state of perpetual preservation. The ice maker? It’s the little engine that could, churning out adorable trapezoid ice until, of course, it inevitably gives up too. And despite the cavalcade of bad reviews, it appears no quality control was actually conducted—unless missing it was the goal. To my fellow sufferers who own this model and are teetering on the edge of appliance-induced madness, I say: hold on. Eventually, the service folks will throw in the towel just like they did with me. After replacing everything from compressors to electronic boards—multiple times!—I was even compensated a whopping $250 for my multiple food losses (a mere snack for my troubles). In a dramatic twist, after the last tech visit, with a resigned shrug, they admitted defeat. They dialed up Whirlpool themselves, conceding that after replacing every conceivable part, the fridge still preferred to vent its freon like teenage angst. Today, I've been assured of a replacement with the latest model. Yes, another identical fridge, because who doesn’t love a sequel? It’s still under the nick-of-time warranty, so, fingers crossed, this resolves my troubles until the next breakdown, forecasted just in time for a not-so-merry Christmas '24. So, if you desire a fridge that excels in aesthetics over actual refrigeration, making a fabulous, albeit warm, cabinet—this, my friends, is the fridge for you!

Beautiful refrigerator. Only one incident since we started using it; one item at the back of the refrigerator actually froze, so I had to throw it away. Also, I never found the owners manual, so I'm not sure how to adjust the temp settings and make sure the actual temperature is the same as the temp on the setting on the door. Another thing I don't like is that the freezer lighting is very bad. Only one light at the top of the freezer and when the sections are pulled out, I can't see at all what I'm looking for. Overall though, we are happy with the product.

I have a confession. I thought refrigerators were mostly similarly designed. I'm sixty-five and I've lived with fridges all my life. And they've all been similar. Until now. The Kitchen Aid French Door Counter-Depth refrigerator is beautiful to look both inside and out. The stainless steel finish is resistant to finger prints, the handles are easy and the opening and closings are solid. I love the thought that has gone into the interior design. In previous refrigerators, we would throw away food that we'd forgotten about on a regular basis. So far, this isn't happening with the KitchenAid, primarily because of the design. The shelves are shallower so it's actually difficult to have food pushed to the back and made invisible. All shelves and drawers are made of a durable, transparent material and combine that with the beautiful rope lighting throughout allows me to get a view of almost everything either on the shelves or in the drawers. No more out of sight, out of mind. The little touches that I might have expected on more expensive refrigerators really make the experience better. There is a small non-stick tray that you can prep things in, slide it into its slot then put it in the oven to bake if you like. There is a tray with a faux wood finish on the front that is perfect for charcuterie. We can actually prepare our charcuterie board and it fits right in that tray. We've been using it for food we expect to prepare and serve sooner and that's helped with meal planning. There is a charcoal filter that helps remove food smells to which we had previously become accustomed. And, of course there is a filter for the water and ice. Speaking of which... We love the ice maker. It's quiet and the nuggets are perfect. It's easy to use, even for the grandchildren whether they want the nuggets or crushed ice. It's not a complaint but the freezer space does require you to be deliberate with what you purchase. However, we have dedicated freezer in our garage so we knew this would not be an issue. In fact, after we make our weekly meal plans, we move food from the outside freezer to the inside that we plan to use that week. We also have room to keep some things that we often use such as ice cream and popsicles for the grandkids...okay, the ice cream is for me. We've had the refrigerator for almost a month now (it was delivered on April 22nd, 2022) and every day it's just a joy to use. And I will say, that the delivery crew, headed up by Paris was wonderful and made sure everything was done correctly and even fielded a call after they left to answer questions. We could not have asked for better delivery or service. I know this might seem a little over the top for a refrigerator but I love to cook and entertain and this addition to our kitchen has just enhanced all of that which means that it's also enhanced our lives.
