    ALMOST A GREAT FRIDGE

I would like to begin this review by saying I got a wonderful open box deals for this KitchenAid refrigerator. What supposed to be $2200, I was able to buy for $1150. With that said, this is a great refrigerator. Both freezer and refrigerator remains nice & cold. Shelving throughout is durable (unlike my old Frigidaire). The only 2 issues I have encountered with this product is the ice maker and the control panels. The ice maker is really slow making ice. I mean really slow. I have a family of nine kids and we use the ice machine a lot for our extracurricular sports activities. This machine can only produce a full tray of ice if you do not touch it for 2-3 days. I have read other reviews that said this, but I had to see it for myself. They were right. The next issue I have is the control panel is digital above the water and ice dispenser. Althought this has a lot of features, it is not necessarily user friendly. I can safely say I can maneuver through electronics without having major issues. The only thing I can do right now without having to spend a lot of time reading the manual is being able to lock all my preferences and also be able to pre-measure the water dispenser. Gone are the days we can mess around with switches and figure out how something works. I am pretty sure I will figure it out eventually. With that said, we had the opportunity to return this to Best Buy within our first 15 days and we decided to keep it because overall we thought this Kitchenaid refrigerator does have more positives than negatives especially for the great price we bought it for. I rated it a 3 star because I took out 1 star for the slow ice maker and 1 star for the non-user friendly control panels. Hopefully this reviews helps you.

I bought this fridge in June of 2017. This was a pretty unit. I bought the upgraded capacity too, because of our family of 5 and that has worked well for us. However, the looks did not last long - at least on the inside. All of the drawers and shelves have a "stainless" finish on the trim that have started wearing away. I'm not one to clean my fridge often, so I'm not sure why that paint is wearing away. It looks terrible. Also, the snack drawer face has broken off so now I have to spend $75 to replace the entire drawer - and I don't even think it will have the stainless trim finish (not that it matters it will wear away apparently). Secondly, the ice maker is poor. Believe the other reviewers when they say ice takes forever. I really have not had good luck when it comes to ice makers when they are in the door. I really wish the manufacturers would go back to ice inside the freezer instead of inside the door. It just doesn't work. Lastly, I am CONSTANTLY having to adjust the right door to get level with the left door. I have never had this issue before. I've sort of given up and now my freezer door and fridge door are never level with each other. It looks crappy. I spent probably $1000 more on this fridge that I should have because I thought I was getting a higher end unit. For the most part it works fine, but all in all not worth the heavy price tag.

Normally I do not write reviews but I am so disappointed in this purchase I don't want people to make the same mistake I did. I purchased this refrigerator 6 months ago and in that time I have had to replace the bottom drawer three times as the handle keeps breaking. The first time I blamed it on my kids, but the next time I broke it and after using epoxy to fix it, I noticed how poorly the design is. As I am writing this review, Kitchen Aid is sending me a new drawer for the 3rd time. The other issue with this refrigerator is the ice maker is slow, very slow, to the point that when we have family or friends over we purchase an extra bag of ice and keep it in the garage refrigerator. On a positive note, Kitchen Aid has been great to work with and I like the water dispenser once measurement feature. This comes in handy every Monday when I start my diet to lose weight then by Wednesday I give up on my diet because I don't like to drink water, hence the wine rack feature.

I purchased this unit in Oct. 2014 when my old Kitchen-aid refrigerator went out. Since then, the unit has had 5 repairs done to it. Two repairs were covered under the product warranty(with-in a year from purchase date) and 3 under the extended warranty (cost about $300 for 3 years). I purchased the extended warranty after it broke the second time. Lemon law does not cover this product until it breaks 4 times under the same warranty!!!! (Should get it replaced SOON) The unit has great lighting, ice machine and water dispenser works excellent and the shelving worked well for us but overall this refrigerator is not worth the trouble. If you still want this refrigerator, make sure you purchase the extended warranty and have a spare unit to put all your food in because each repair took a week to two weeks for the parts to come in after the technician came out to work on it. I do want to mention that I have the Kitchen-aid stove top, oven, microwave and dishwasher also in my kitchen and all work excellent. I guess this refrigerator was just a bad product. Hope this helps.

    great refrig/freezer--horrible ice maker

i do love the refrigerator and freezer, unfortunately the ice maker is terribly slow, so slow as a family of 4 we had to supplement our ice by purchasing an external ice maker(which i do recommend:) . 1st con-The freezer is a little narrow, so you cannot fit some big frozen pizza's in there when you get home from the store, but we have a 2nd refrig/freezer so we store wide stuff in there. I love the LED lighting everything is is lit up both freezer and refrig so you can see easily. the shelves are easily adjustable and can be made to your satisfaction. It has two drawers for produce in the refrigerator and two in the freezer for bagged veggies or whatever you choose. The water/ ice maker takes a #1 water drop ($40+-) filter which are a little pricey but I get after-market on ebay/amazon and have been satisfied. the water dispenser is a little slower than id like but it is not that big of a deal. all in all i do like it though--just wish the ice maker was way faster in producing ice--and yes i put it on max cold and it still does not make it fast enough.

Great lighting, but still has issues

In looking at the other reviews before buying the fridge, I was a bit hesitant. However, I found the fridge has enough storage for the space I am limited to. The lighting is amazing and really brights up the full area, regardless of how well it is filled. However, there are 2 issues which I have noticed within owning the fridge for 2 days. 1. The ice maker is extremely slow! It is still not up to full capacoty, or anywhere near it, even though it has been running for the 2 days. 2. As mentioned in other posts the fridge door swings open and has no limitations, u til it reached that complete 180 degree. Although the fact that is opens itself to the full is great, I have noticed that if things are in the drawers, they do move around a little bit. With this in mind, I still like the fridge and am very happy I purchased it. I did get the 5 year warranty, just in case anything does happen, and would def recommend it to anyone else that purchases it, just in case anything wrong does happen with it in the somewhat near future. Good luck everyone and hope this helps :)

Love the way this appliance looks in the kitchen. It's built very well and all the shelves, drawers, handles are substantial and easy to move. I will say there are only a few configurations that allow you to have a gallon of milk on the door and still shut the door. The shelf on the door will bump the drawer if you have the drawer up too high and the shelf too low. They did make the most of the interior space - the shelves are deep and I'm very pleased with the space in the freezer as most side by side fridges seem to neglect design in the freezer section. The lighting is well done and evenly dispersed so that no matter where you place your food or containers you don't block the lighting for other shelves. No cold spots, keeps food just as you expect. Ice and water dispenser work very well. Ice maker is smallish and a little slow, but if you don't use an incredible amount of ice in a day (like trying to host a party without purchasing bags of ice or fill a cooler) it's not a problem at all once the dispenser is full it has no problem keeping up with normal daily use.

Noisier than the old GE fridge it replaced, although the geek squad service person said that noisier is typical for Kitchenaid and that the unit is functioning normally. Turned off the icemaker, which helped. Compressor is the primary source of noise and I might acoustically insulate the cabinet enclosure for the fridge to see if that helps with the noise. Also has bottom fridge door hinge which makes a clicking every time the door is opened or closed. Geek squad service person showed me that it's not broken, but we couldn't determine the source of the noise. However, this thing is gorgeous especially inside. The interior lighting and materials are what got the sale. Everything else works well. Overall, almost great but ends up only good. Kind of like buying an expensive car that has a few annoying things that fall short of 5 stars.

spray foam was coming out of the top of the doors that I had to remove with a razor, the refrigerator door makes a thumping noise when i open it, and now the freezer side is not cooling and food is starting to melt and i have had the refrigerator less than two months. now i have to deal with kitchenAid warranty. What a terrible experience with best buy and now getting ahold of kitchenaid is totally frustrating. 6000 worth of appliances and the issues begin

My refrigerator was limited to only side by side models, so after 3-4 months of looking at nearly every available model my family and I decided this was the best option. PROS: Spacious inside, cabinets don’t have a cheap feeling to them, in door water dispenser has measure fill, and the handles on the fridge are awesome (textured feel is nice). CONS: There is only one major flaw for me family with this fridge, the ice maker is slow and makes a small amount of ice per batch. Overview: This fridge is a great side by side and would recommend to anyone who doesn’t have the need to always be dispensing ice or has a large family who needs a larger than average amount of ice for meals.

I have my condo for sale so I was very disappointed to find out I needed to replace my Bosch refrigerator that went bad after just 7 years. I went to the Best Buy outlet store in Burbank and there were many refrigerators to chose from. My Bosch was a counter depth but I chose a full size Kitchen Aid model for several reasons, it was not as deep as most on the market today so it fit my space better than most full size models would have, it's got great, bright lighting inside, glass shelves instead of plastic, and a fabulous price at the outlet store. The ice maker is a little noisy when it drops the new cubes. I have been very happy with this refrigerator, it holds a lot and it's easy to see everything. Plus...it's a top brand.

We purchased a Samsung which was very noisy (we tried two). The KitchenAid was admirably quiet. However, the doors could not be leveled even though they sent a tech to re-level them. Also, the doors were not evenly matched across the front. One door stuck out about one-quarter inch more than the other. This could not be fixed. They sent out a replacement and it was just as bad. The refrigerator door did not seal properly. The “open” light would go out but the door was not sealed. The shelves could not really be adjusted very well. If you moved a shelf it hit the trays on the door. Junk. I would not recommend to an enemy let alone a friend.

I bought this about 2 weeks ago. The refrigerator is simply gorgeous. The lighting is spectacular and the shelving is amazing. The refrigerator operates very quietly. Was so excited for this refrigerator, it just looks greatness. Then when I opened it up I saw the door swing open and hit the wall. Theres no stopping the door. I called customer service from the where I purchased it, (Best Buy) and they sent out a technitian that said the door handles were to heavy for the refrigerator and thats why it swung open and hit the wall. Seriously? Then after two days I started seeing finger prints on the stainless steel. I tried cleaning it and was impossible to clean the stainless steel. So my new gorgeous fridge is now a dirty looking fridge that opens and bangs the walls. Terrible.

At first I really liked this fridge, however it has had so many problems that I really regret the purchase. Within 1 year of buying it the items in my fridge started freezing, and I called a repairman out. He replaced something between the fridge and freezer to regulate cold flow, and it has been ok since then. The water dispenser often freezes and does not work. Also 3 of the drawers have broken. When the first one broke I bought a replacement one, and within a couple of months that one had broken too. I have repaired them all with duct tape. I am so done with this fridge.

The reason we bought this fridge is because of the unique door hinges. We have a tight spot for our fridge and this model has a hinge system that allows the doors to open in a manner that will not bump into the wall oven which is right next to it. It has bright led lighting and plenty of storage. My biggest complaint is that the stainless steel surface is not coated and therefore it shows every fingerprint. It also has a very thin gauge skin and dents and scratches very easily. I had wanted to buy a Samsung but the doors open in a way that would not work for us.

We initially bought a whirlpool but it was exceedingly loud and wouldn't door level properly among other things. so we returned it and decided to spend the extra $ on a kitchenAid. Well Worth It!! So quiet as to be essentially silent. Nice controls and the temp is perfect. Our first "in-door" ice-maker - rather than having the unit taking up an entire shelf. It works great and makes plenty of ice for our family of 4. Buy this one!

After doing a lot of research, I decided to purchase this side-by-side to replace an older unit. I couldn't be happier. Unlike some of the reviews I have read, I have not had any problems with the in-door ice-maker or noise levels. This refrigerator/freezer functions well, the temperatures are consistent, and the interior lighting is great! One note: if you are buying any 'stainless steel' appliance, I recommend purchasing some micro-fiber cloths and a can of 3M stainless steel cleaner and polish. Using these products will help to keep the unit looking like new.

We chose this unit because we didn't want to bend down for a freezer. It is well lit and the Stainless front is magnetic as well. The only thing that we don't like so far is the refrigerator shelves are too fogged up and damp all the time, and the ice cubes are a weird shape and quantity of ice storage is very small. Also, KEEP the reference chart to change controls. Do wish it just had a typical dial to change interior temperatures though rather than the complicated method one must use near the water dispenser.

We were looking for the largest-capacity refrigerator possible for a relatively small space and this fit the bill. As expected, everything works great -- refrigeration, freezing, ice making, filtered water and so on. The gravy, however, is how much room there is inside. PLENTY of room. One suggestion when setting up is to make sure your door shelves do not touch your cabinet shelves. Even the slightest contact will keep the door from closing properly.

Problems with ice maker, problems with temperature. Etc. Thank goodness I bought an extended warranty for 5 yrs with this thing. It's a nightmare. Will never buy Kitchenaid again.
