Beautiful refrigerator, but it has some flaws

My wife begged for this fridge and mainly for a few reasons, 0) it was more beautiful than the Rock, 1) it had the daylight LED lights on the interior, 2) it had really cool looking sliding drawers on the inside, and 3) it had two extra middle slide out drawers that our kids each claimed as their own (because kids are selfish like that). However, I'm a bit more critical of it. First of all, the fridge had to sacrifice space in the "main cabin", if you will, and you can get a jug of milk and a 2 liter of soda in there but that is about it when it comes to large items. I will admit it is a beautiful looking fridge but honestly I am not sure of it's usefulness in our practical every days lives. I'm sure my wife would rush to the fridge's defense but I'm seeing down the road into my crystal ball that this model isn't the most practical use of the space. For instance, the two slide out drawers have little use to me unless you have kids like mine who each want their own drawer for their own snacks and random junk (I won't be surprised to find legos and poor frost bitten grasshoppers in there from my son...) then I'm just not so sure what the good of them would be. The freezer pull out drawer seems big at first but after filling it up with a few things I'm seeing a lack of useable space due to the three sliding drawers in the pull out freezer drawer. All those drawers/shelves take up valuable space! Also, the unit that was delivered to me had a full on freak out meltdown (poltergeist style) and the LED panel went haywire like a toddler ghost was sitting there pressing all the buttons making the thing freak out (and freak me out in the process). When it was first delivered the water dispenser was wonky and the water came out of the panel itself and not just the water spigot like a properly engineered water dispenser should. So I think the water dorked up the electronics and later in the night, as I was sleeping, the thing was doing unspeakable evil things. Thank the good Lord my dog woke me up. At first I was mad at the dog for waking me, but when I got up to go yell at the dog I found a frigging river of water streaming from the dispenser!! I yelled for my wife to come see the mayhem at 12:30am in the morning and banged on the panel to make it stop. It took three full adult size towels to soak up all the water from what I am now calling the "great flood". I turned the water off at the wall after that nonsense. I called BestBuy and told them to get that haunted refrigerator out of my new house and send me a new unit (which is scheduled for delivery next week). I will say that BestBuy was very responsive in settling this issue and making things right so in that regard I'm pleased.

    Horribly disappointed at every step

The Fridge: We were so excited for this fridge to be delivered. It is simply a beautiful piece of equipment looking at the store model. The fridge we received however was a picture of horribly quality assurance procedures and sub-standard materials being used. Definitely disappointed in the craftsmanship of this pricey fridge. 1. The doors of the fridge look like they were filled with too much insulation and never finished. (Picture attached) There is a gap in spots on the top of each door where you can see that the doors just aren't finished. 2. The middle drawer in freezer is cracked and when it opens and closes makes a horrible screeching sound. 3. There is scratches all over the plastic covers that go over the small area inside the fridge. 4. Random places inside the fridge you can see insulation coming out of the seams 5. Tiny dent on door (This could have happened in delivery however) 6. This fridge is loud! There is a series of hums, rattles, whirls and squeaks. Most that are listed in the manual as "normal and expected". 7. The crushed ice feature is horribly lacking. It is slow and seizes up after a few pieces of ice. You then have to dispense whole ice to correct it and start again for the same thing to happen. The delivery process: I didn't base my rating off of this portion but I felt it worth sharing. 1. A 12 hour window for delivery is horrendous to try to plan around. Our first appointment on Tuesday we weren't notified until 9:40PM on Monday night that someone would be out between 5-7PM on the delivery day. 2. They waited until 4:45PM on our delivery date to tell us they couldn't deliver on that day because it had rained. They said we would be added to the schedule on Wednesday and called with a new time. 3. On Wednesday we found out we were never rescheduled and now had to wait until Friday for someone to come out. 4. On Friday we got a call and was told they would be there between 10-10:30AM with our fridge. 5. At 1:47PM they showed up. They damaged our door jam on both sides. One with the fridge coming in and one side from the delivery person removing the bolt in the door to take it off the hinges. They told of us neither of these damaged areas and we found them right after they left. The resolution: Best Buy cannot deliver a replacement fridge for 3 1/2 weeks now. We had this option or be compensated to take the damaged one. The more we thought about it, the more we realized that the replacement fridge would likely have the same quality issues and will be cancelling our order today and asking for them to come and take this one back. Will start the process again to find a well-made, function filled fridge. One good note was the salesperson who while all of this was out of his control was kind and understanding and really tried to do everything they could to find us a resolution.

I've had this refrigerator 16 months now. Got it at a great price ($2,569). I debated between this and the refrigerators that had the single drawer in the middle (where this has two), and honestly, bought this one because of the black stainless steel and the grey interior. It is gorgeous! It serves my needs well, I like the layout for the most part. I keep the middle drawers filled with drinks and fruit. I live alone, so capacity isn't an issue. I do like that the freezer drawer has some resistance to opening, so my toddler grandson can't open. I really want to say I love it, but for the money, there are quirks that shouldn't be there: 1. The two middle drawers are self-closing, and there's an alarm that goes off if a refrigerator door is left open, BUT, there is no alarm for the freezer drawer, which isn't self-closing. Twice now I've thought it was shut all the way but it wasn't, only to later find a heavy frost on everything inside it. It is a ridiculous design flaw that there's no alarm for the freezer drawer. 2. The ice/water dispenser has a slight delay to the shut-off. I'm talking 1-1.5 seconds. Doesn't sound like much, but every single person that uses it naturally pulls their container away when they're done, only to discover that water or ice continues to fall out for that 1-1.5 seconds and it hits the floor. I've learned to adjust, but again, a design flaw. 3. The left refrigerator door that has the icemaker in it is very heavy. What this means is that, with just the slightest touch, it shuts as if you'd slammed it, causing everything in it to rattle. (Not sure this could be avoided, though, because of the in-the door icemaker, which is something I wanted.) 4. The interior drawers in the refrigerator have "produce preserver" housings. These are small, cage-like boxes that hold a packet that, I'm guessing from the name, is supposed to help preserve produce. The cages adhere to the insides of the drawers with suction cups. I found these to be useless. After a while, the cups no longer held so the preserver units were just loose in the drawers. I threw both away. 5. The water filter compartment holds water. So when you lower the door to reach the filter, that water dribbles out onto the shelf below. Again, something I've learned to anticipate, but frustrating. 6. The push buttons on the ice/water dispenser are finicky. It's hard to tell exactly how you're supposed to push - under the words? on the words? push? tap? After almost a year and a half, it's still hit and miss with me. Word of advice - if you notice the water is dispensing slower than usual, it's because the filter is clogged. These things aren't cheap (I think I pay about $50 each on Amazon), and the first two lasted about 6 months each, but the last one became clogged after only 3 months. I've removed it for now because the dispenser was so irritatingly slow and I'm not willing to shell out the money again. However, with no dispenser, the water gushes...so be prepared. With the exception of the filter, I think these other issues are all design-related, which is why I wouldn't buy again. It's not like I got it home and didn't like the layout or size or looks, which is a matter of personal taste. These issues shouldn't exist in an appliance of this price range. At this price, I should either really love it or really hate it, not be frustrated with things that could've been addressed in manufacturing. Makes me wonder how happy I would've been with the other models I looked at.

Great looking commercial feel fridge. Small flaws

We bought this fridge during the July 4th sale as part of whole KitchenAid set, convection oven/range, convection microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator. All of the pieces are stunning and I highly recommend them all. The only piece I'm slightly disappointed with is the fridge. The stainless steel finish, commercial grade handles, bottom freezer, French door refrigerator and two external fridge drawers are all fantastic. Opening up the fridge you will find individual led lights mounted around the interior of the fridge providing light to every corner of refrigerator. Two shelves have under-shelf led lighting for added illumination making opening the doors an awesome experience. One shelf is a tuck-under shelf where half of the shelf can be slid under the other half making room for taller items. There are so many shelves and drawers any person can have there inner neat-freak satisfied. And that in of itself is its drawback. It is a 25.8 cubic feet fridge which is plenty of space for anyone but when you add in numerous shelves and drawers, all of that hardware starts to take up space that could be occupied by food. Shelf space on the door is limited for two reasons: 1. Because of the two external drawers, the doors are shorter than the standard French door design refrigerator of the same size; 2. The ice maker bin is extremely large and takes up the majority of the left door leaving one small shelf at the bottom underneath it. All of this can be overcome by wisely and creatively placing your items in the refrigerator and making good use out of the two external drawers. Another issue I have is that the ice bin has trouble dispensing ice when there is a small amount of ice in the bin. Most ice makers have the dispensing mechanism horizontal with a sloped bottom so gravity pulls the ice down. This fridge has the mechanism vertical so that the bottom is flat. When the ice is low, the mechanism arm cannot reach the remaining ice and because the bottom is flat, the ice just sits there. This is a mild annoyance caused by design. The compressor, which does keep everything very well controlled, is louder than a typical compressor. I've not opened the fridge to see how the compressor design is different but it is louder than any fridge I have owned before. That being said it is not loud but it is loud enough that you notice it. Review. Aesthetic appeal - 5 stars Organization - 5 stars Storage space - 4.5 stars Efficiency in function - 4 stars Ambient noise - 3.5 stars Overall - 4 stars I am happy with this product but parts of it are over-engineered and others seem to need improvement.

Good Fridge, but Pricey & Low Ice Output

Lots of folks have already provided really nice, thorough reviews of this fridge. It is a good fridge, but I wish we had fewer complaints about it based on the cost. Most are minor, but at this price point, any complaint seems amplified. Number 1 is the very poor ice output. We have to keep it on max ice constantly and my husband is the only person in the house who uses the ice. This is disappointing and frustrates him constantly. He complains he is now on "ice rations". Also, the little tray in the water dispenser area fits very poorly and falls out constantly. There is no actual latch or other mechanism to keep it in place. My husband ended up putting some velcro strips down to hold it in place. The chrome handles are an odd design element for a black stainless fridge. This was a consideration for us in the purchase process and ultimately, we decided to just remedy this ourselves. We took the handles (which are not assembled onto the fridge at delivery) to a local certified cerakote applicator. They now look amazing and are no longer an inconsistent element against the black stainless. It is now sleek and beautiful; how it should have looked to begin with! See attached pics. We went from a side-by-side fridge to this French door design. We really like it overall but were surprised by the persistent challenge of storing taller items, which is not a factor with a side-by-side design. There is such limited space for taller things! We ended up entirely removing one of the shelves, something other reviewers have noted as well. This helped us achieve a more usable layout. The fit and finish of the fridge are excellent. The black stainless is beautiful and the gray interior is quite nice. We really like the soft-close doors and the 3 drawer freezer section is excellent - very easy to keep organized. It is easy to clean. On balance, we like most things about this fridge. The ice maker is the only major drawback.

Dazzling platinum interior with great lighting! Bought this beautiful refrigerator in November just before Thanksgiving and have loved the depth of shelves as well as width of shelving compared to our old side by side refrigerator. I only gave 4 stars in my rating on the KitchenAid website, but now that I’ve used the refrigerator a little longer, I’m bumping my rating up to 5 stars on this website. This refrigerator is very deep and holds more than you would think. We had a fresh turkey, ham, and all the other fixings that were easily stored for our holiday feasting pleasure. The separate drawers for keeping our deli/cheese/butter organized and my veggies fresh (love the filters included w/attachments for different compartments) are absolutely a plus. It's been great to open only the drawers for our dairy products and veggies, rather than the larger compartment - seems to really keep everything fresh longer with enough organizational options to suit different uses over time (adjustable settings on the drawers). I also like the auto-fill feature for measuring out water for our kettle and other cooking needs. Although I had some misgivings about the short space for the door shelves on the right side, the space was adjustable and with the middle shelf now being used as our taller item shelf, it has worked out fine after all. The refrigerator meets our needs with such an elegant visual appeal! My only negative view involves one small design issue: the opening "button" for the ice maker is very hard to actually open and a bit inferior compared to all other components. However, perhaps I just need to get use to using it. Overall, this is a small thing compared to how much we love our new frig!

We had this refrigerator delivered to our home in late January and it's been a nightmare. Last straw that drove this review was I had to shut off the water source this morning because I woke to find a huge puddle of water from the ice/water dispenser leaking. Great timing...today is 4th of July in San Antonio! Thanks Pacific Sales/Kitchen Aid! The parade of problems began at first week of delivery. The freezer was frosting all food badly. We called and were told it might be because it was new and would clear up. After it didn't, we finally got a technician out to repair and the door had been put on wrong with a gap. Okay, fixed....or we though. Moving forward, we noticed the ice machine would not work properly and was constantly clogging up with ice. I have to remove the ice bin and take a huge chunk of ice that develops weekly. The water drips constantly from the door, which we'd try controlling with a small towel between tech visits. Now, we are waiting on a new door, because the ice maker and water dispenser barely works... it was working at about 20% of the capacity I'd expect, but we were dealing with it limping along for now, and this piece of junk is now leaking worse. We've had Pacific Sales/Kitchen Aid service out to the house 5 times! Got to take time off work to spend half a day with a technician, only for another issue to arise. This is a huge frustration. We are stuck with a very expensive LEMON, but since we are beyond the 15 day delivery, Best Buy/Pac Sales only offers another warranty visit but will not replace the thing. We had originally bought a Samsung during a Black Friday event for our new home, but shortly before delivery, we changed our mind as this was supposed to be a great refrigerator...DUMB MOVE on my part!!! This is the LAST THING I will EVER purchase from Best Buy! I am SO FINISHED with these people. This refrigerator has cost me a LOT. Got the thing on sale, but bought an extended warranty and had to use approximately 25 hours of annual leave or time off without pay to be home to deal this these problems that STILL ARE NOT RESOLVED!

We've now had this refrigerator for over a year, and have mixed feelings about it. Pros: The two drawers, ice and water in door, French Doors and Freezer drawer make it energy efficient since you don't have to open the entire fridge to access contents, The interior shelving is flexible allowing various adjustments. and the variety of compartments are handy if you like to compartmentalize different types of foods. Cons: There are two slight defects with this unit. The first is that the hinged door seal bar between the French doors doesn't fully retract, so when opening and closing the left door it smacks into the right door and you have to manually reach and retract it so that the door will close. The spring in this component appears to be too weak, and eventually we'll probably need to replace it. The second problem is with the door switches for the open-door alarm. if the door isn't completely and snugly closed, the switch doesn't engage and the alarm sounds after a couple of minutes. even though the door is closed and seals engaged. This switch is also the same one that controls the interior lights, so if it doesn't completely engage the lights stay on. I know what you're thinking- how can he know if the lights are still on with the doors closed? You can see if they are by opening the drawer compartment below the door These issues are obvious design oversights and the unit should be recalled or a fix offered. The other drawbacks that we've experienced are the the ice maker takes too long to make ice, and if you have dinner guests, a party or if you have a big family plan on making trips to the grocery to buy extra ice. The ice maker might be able to keep up if the ice bin was bigger, which is another drawback. For the capacity of the refrigerator the ice bin is small. It would also be beneficial if the door storage trays had more adjustment levels there are only a couple of usable levels for each tray, and the lower freezer would be better if the two lower bins could be combined into one. My complaints about the adjustments could easily be said about many newer style refrigerators as designers seem to be fond of compartmentalization to the detriment of allowing for larger spaces that often come in handy, say for a frozen turkey or such. Overall we like this refrigerator and it's aesthetics and function, but the designers still have some work to do. .

So I had been eyeballing this fridge for the last year, watching sales prices and just overall daydreaming about it. We finally decided to get it when another one of our appliances broke. It wasn't on sale and was quite expensive. When it was delivered, the doors had to be removed to get in the house and after a week of using it, I just didn't feel like the doors were sealing properly. When the delivery guys came back to deliver the other appliance, they checked it out for me (as recommended by geek squad) and they agreed, it wasn't sealing. So we had to have it exchanged out. Immediately you could notice a difference and that the first fridge must have been defective from the start. I absolutely love this fridge and the design extras! The only real complaint is that on the side of each shelf there is a notch outward making it impossible to align two shelves next to each other. It actually makes it very difficult to create a lot of space this way and so we removed one shelf. Instead we are now only using 3 of the 4 shelves which allows tons of space. **Also, my suggestion to anyone expecting delivery of this fridge to be VERY careful taking shrinkwrap off because they shrink wrap the shelves upside down so they fall immediately if you are not extremely careful. It will shatter and you will have glass everywhere (speaking from experience with the first delivery).

I love to cook and this fridge seemed perfect. I loved the idea of being able to access the 2 middle drawers. The whole fridge seemed to be user friendly. That being said the love affair ended after I began to use it. First the freezer started to ice up. After only 3 months of use I had to defrost the freezer in order to have the 2 freezer drawers glide freely. I had to manually bump up the fridge to max ice and max cold to keep my fridge cold and the ice from melting. My husband kept saying the fridge was being stingy with ice. After a while it wasn't a joke and I would have to take the ice compartment out and run warm water to remove the melted/frozen ice so it would work again. I still thought it was a good fridge made in America looked good right, had a 10 year warranty. Than the door sound kept going off and I would have to physically push in the soft glide doors to close the middle 2 and the freezer. So far I have had to defrost my fridge 3 times the last time I had so much ice it took 5 hours. I called for repair. Today I came home and I have ice on the roof of my fridge. I no longer think it is a user friendly fridge but I still think it looks good in my kitchen I just wish it worked.

I purchased this refrigerator 7/16/18 when my old fridge died. It was delivered the next week. Approximately 3 weeks later we started noticing issues with water running down the front of the fridge and puddling on the floor. The inside of the fridge around the icemaker was also dripping water down the inside and would alternate freezing up around the gaskets. It quit making ice by the next day. I even went so far as to take everything out of the fridge and freezer and left it sitting open for a whole day so if the ice maker was frozen up it would melt. I turned it back on the next day and it has never made another piece of ice. I called the KitchenAid repair to have them come look at it but then decided I didn't want to start having troubles and service calls on a brand new fridge that was less than a month old. I went on the Best Buy website and started reading the pros and cons of this fridge.....so many complaints about the ice maker going out almost immediately. Thankfully, we are elite plus members and the management at the store in Sherman, TX was nothing but wonderful to work with. My new fridge will be here on Saturday (I checked reviews first this time) and they will pick up this one that will not make ice. I really hate that it happened because I loved the extra drawers for meats, cheeses and produce. Loved the fact that you can put a big pizza in the door of the freezer and that it has plenty of room for frozen foods. I just can't spend $3,000 on a fridge, have an important part of it go out in less than a month, and keep it or exchange for another one just like it.

When I saw this in the store refrigerator was shocked by her beauty. Many storage drawers a spacious freezer. LED lighting is good, I love the individual light on the tablets. The color of the interior is charming. Eventhough I decided to buy my stove was Samsung. It was the perfect refrigerator to my large family. All that changed when making my first purchase of supermarket. It has three levels but two are too small. There is not a comfortable level to store containers of juices, their tablets only be configured in a way. I had to change the sizes of items that fit on the tablets. At the door where the ice basket is not enough to keep a bottle of ketchup space. Not much room for several different meals. Its exterior Stainless Steel material is of poor quality, I have a constant struggle with mold. It is stain very easily. It has two drawers in the center which came uneven and can not be fixed. The freezer is spacious but does frost. The handle of the freezer for no apparent reason detachment. In conclusion I would not recommend it for a large family like mine.

    Too Many Issues

    Posted
    Grace

I absolutely love this refrigerator. They style, platinum interior and space is very nice. I like the five doors as well. Water dispenser is horrible but I love the refrigerator. I purchased it in October 2016 but since then it has had to be repaired three times. The freezer drawer seals were repaired because frost kept building up, then the frost would melt and the freezer would alternate between warm and cold and I lost food. After the seal was replaced, then the freezer drawer had to be replaced. Next the frig stopped cooling all together and I lost food again. Geek Squad Warranty is horrible as I've been out of a refrigerator for almost a month. They sent out a company, and when it was diagnosed as having a sealed system issue, they said the company they sent out was not authorized dealer to purchase Whirlpool parts still under warranty. Why they were sent to my house - I have no idea. They sent out another company which gave a different diagnosis and said it was the digital board and the thermostat wasn't working and there was nothing wrong with the sealed system. Geek Squad and the company communication was not successful. Eventually I requested an alternate solution and am shopping now for a new frig. I will not be purchasing this model again. For all the issues with the seals and cooling in less than 18 months, it's not worth my money to keep loosing food or my time to keep dealing with repairs. It's very beautiful and I love it. A month with no frig, great I lost weight. But biggest lesson learned. All that glitters ain't gold.

The design of the fridge is well thought out. I much prefer the French door style to our old side by side. Visibility is far superior since there is less crowding and there is amble LED lighting. Not closing a door completely will trigger an alarm which is very nice since the left side door that has the pivoting center piece does not always close correctly if right side door was already closed. Not sure it was because only light force was used to shut the door. This has only happened twice in 30 days and never to me and the alarm let you know when this occurred so I consider this a minor issue. There are two drawers under the main French doors and one has customizable temps for meats, cheese, drinks, veggies and thawing. It would have been nice if both were customizable and even better if they could have been set to a freezer setting too. Both drawers are self closing which is a very nice feature. We like the pizza storage location in the front of the freezer door. Very convenient for large boxes. The freezer storage is more than we had before so no complaints there. We live in a rural area and are not on city water so there are lots of minerals in our water supply. Our old fridge did a poor job of filter the water compared to this one. The water tastes much better now so I don't have to buy bottled water for drinking. The Ice maker reservoir is quite small and initially took a long time to fill. The Geek Squad that installed it warned me that it takes a bit to get all the air out of the system and that would effect ice output and also the water dispenser since you can select the actual output in ounces.

If I could give this fridge a -5 rating I would. I am so thankful that we purchased the extended Geek Squad warranty when we purchased this fridge. The dispenser has always had a "drip, drip, drip" with the water and although the ice maker worked fine for the first year, it has given us problems for a while. We have had this fridge for exactly 2 years and in the past 6 weeks we have had it serviced 4 times and it still isn't repaired. The ice dispenser does not dispense ice because there is a problem in the door that allows air to get in and therefore it makes the ice moist and then it all sticks together. And now there is a small leak in the back of the inside of the fridge that drips on the top shelf. The last service call was yesterday and they said we need a whole new door according to the manufacturer, Whirlpool. We are getting a new fridge, not the same brand. A family member has this exact same fridge and they are having the exact same problem. If you check other websites, which I didn't do before we purchased, you will see very poor ratings on this fridge. Thank goodness we purchased the extended warranty. The guys from the Geek Squad have been great, they have tried everything to fix it, unfortunately it's a defect in the making of the fridge. My advice is to stay away from this fridge.

Well, we will see how this refrigerator works out. Normally I am a Samsung and/or LG fan however after looking at this refrigerator online and in the stores along with some substantial due diligence about KitchenAid products and reading all of the great reviews I decided to pull the trigger on purchasing this unit along with a really nice four door LG unit at nearly the same time. This Kitchenaid unit has had some challenges with frost building up in the bottom freezer area about every month. I have had two different repair specialists look at the unit and no one can find where the air is leaking into the bottom freezer. The next time this happens I will ask them to replace the entire bottom freezer draw and the freezer gasket. mean while the LG four door unit has had no problems what so ever. I will update this review as time passes to see just how KitchenAid decides how to deal with this unit and if they are going to make me wait a year or more before I have a problem free refrigerator.

Love this fridge! I went in with my mind made up, but a sales associate suggested this Kitchen Aid. So glad he did! My fresh foods STAY fresh! The drawers keep perfect temps for items inside, and soft close is a bonus. Water and ice taste great, good water pressure, love the measured water feature and tall dispenser area. If you use too small a cup, you might get some water spray or stray ice, but it doesn’t take long to learn where to place your cup to keep it from happening. I preferred a larger ice maker, not in the door, but this one is keeping up just fine. The large freezer space would make it easy to store up extra ice ahead of time for a large party if needed. Love the organization of the freezer, especially the designated pizza area. Refrigerator area is well lit; for awhile I didn’t realize there are lights under the front edge of 2 shelves! I do hear the compressor’s low buzz when on and you know when the ice about to drop, but the sounds aren’t annoyingly loud in my opinion. The shelf edges are spill resistant, not spill proof, but a quick lift of the glass, wipe around the edge and you’re good to go. The black stainless is perfect with my oil rubbed bronze kitchen accents and my husband LOVES the industrial handles, win win! Side note, if you’re near a Best Buy Outlet, you may find a great deal on one of these!

We originally wanted to buy the samsung 4 door fridge with a convertible compartment, but after reading several horrible reviews about samsung customer service and the reliability of that model we went in a different direction. We had a side by side for 17 years and weren't very fond of the french doors with bottom pull out freezers so we were looking at other side by sides when Lori, the very patient sales woman at Pacific Sales warehouse pointed out this 5 door beauty. We were hesitant at first, because it was slightly bigger than they dying fridge we had and a completely different set up, but decided to welcome the change. It was the second delivery of this model the delivery guys delivered, but the first time they had to take the doors off. Before purchasing the fridge we read a review that stressed the importance of the doors being taken off and put back on correctly and the two guys did an AMAZING job. We've had the fridge for a little over a week now and absolutely love it! Hoping to have it for a long time.

you are looking for a reliable product and good customer service from the manufacture, do not walk, run away from this refrigerator! Product was on back order, we waited for two months. Once the refrigerator was received it lasted two months before we awoke to warm food. We discovered the temperature had been fluctuating from high to low. Possible reason we had on and off stomach aches those two months. After four service attempts (4weeks) all failing. Whirlpool ,that now owns Kitchen Aid finally agreed to deliver a new one. Today ,two weeks later, we received yet another damaged product. After sitting on hold for two hours, their solution was to put the non-working one back in our house and wait for another one to be delivered at a later date. Their exceptionally rude person in the exchange department for whirlpool finally agreed to let us keep the working/damaged product, until they could get a new one ,but only after reminding me several times this was not customary and to not expect this again. I am disappointed, I own several Kitchen Aid products and have never been treated in this manner.

The doors open separately so you limit cold loss. The freezer section is closed at the bottom to also prevent loss of cold air and there is great convenience in the two upper freezer shelves. I keep steaks and meats with standard cut into upper slider and bags of frozen vegetables in the next slider and roasts, chicken, etc in the bottom of the freezer. Just above the freezer is a temperature controlled drawer for defrosting your meats for next day cooking. There are several other settings on the same defrost drawer to suit it to other tasks. It’s nice having a ice maker/water dispenser again. My last refrigerator was a GE and it lasted half the life of the refrigerator. My last fridge the lighting quit about a month after I bought it new. My new Kitchen Aid has wonderful lighting absolutely everywhere, so bright nothing gets hidden. Wonderful product and well engineered.
