best out of 4 dishwashers I've had

Finally found a dishwasher that actually cleans dirty dishes. With other machines, we always removed virtually all debris from dishes before loading in dishwasher. Not so with this one, we put in plates with practically anything remaining on them from meal and, voila, they come out clean and spotless. Plus, it had that great "new dishwasher smell" when we first started using it! We love it and show it to all of our friends when they come over, often leading to extended conversations on how modern appliances have enhanced life and allowed us more time for social networking or binge viewing a cable series. We're thrilled! Our lives have never been better.

    Awesome AND beautiful!

I absolutely LOVE this dishwasher! I purchased this dishwasher on sale in October 2011 for $260 off the regular price and feel I would still be getting a great deal at full price. The only thing I don't like about it is that when I wash it on Heavy Duty with the Heated Dry option it takes over 2 hours for the entire cycle to run. That is not that big of a deal though. I did not think that I would like the fact that it doesn't have a delay feature, but that doesn't bother me either since this dishwasher is so quiet. This is a replacement for a GE diswasher that was part of their "quiet series" that was so loud it was pathetic. My dishes come out spotless and do not have to be washed before I load them. All I do is scrape off the food and load. I do use Jet Dry so I haven't had any problem with the dishes drying completely. This dishwasher is also beautiful! Be prepared to stay busy wiping fingerprints if you have little ones. Mine is old enough that this is not a problem for me. Don't hesitate to purchase this item as it is certainly worth every penny I spent and more! Now I am looking forward to getting a new KitchenAid french-door refrigerator to match and replace another GE piece of junk!

Extremely quiet and very easy to use controls. Like them hidden as grandkids can't get at them. This unit replaced a Maytag that was 22 years old

    Could be better

The sales and delivery process was superb. Product is not bad for the price, but could have been better. The buttons for the wash cycles and options are concealed on the top of the cover, but get turned on inadvertently, real easily. This is not good if you are not paying attention. The layout of the top pull out tray and the placements of the tines make it very difficult to fully utilize the length and breadth of the same. Fairly quiet, but not as I expected it to be. Dishes come out spotless, only if the accompanying drying product is used. Not so great for big pots and pans. Overall an average product.

    Excellent Dishwasher

My prior Kitchenaid dishwasher completely died and so i needed to replace it. Given all of my other appliances were Kitchenaid, I was biased to use the same brand. After looking at the other competing products, i decided on this one. This model is signficantly quieter than the one it replaced. I also like the various extra features such as delayed start (note that Best Buy carries a lower model which doesn't have this feature). Overall pleased with the purchase and the installers were top notch.

All I can say is that I love everything about this quality dishwasher! Kitchen Aid really knows what quality is. It is quiet and does a great job cleaning. For the price you can't beat it. Not to mention that it is Stainless.

    Replacing LG Dishwasher

I was replacing a LG dishwasher that I had no less than 7 repair trips to fix the diswasher because it would not clean dishes. I chose the KitchenAid for two reasons: 1) The brand - I already have a gas stove top, microwave and convection oven and wanted to have the same brand appliances. 2) Based on reviews - searched the internet and this model was rated fairly well. It was good that I did my homework because the Best Buy rep that processed my order was not too knowledgeable and messed up my order so delivery, removal and installation was not well coordinated.

KitchenAid products tend to be a little more expensive than other appliances and while I do like the looks of the dishwasher and it does a great job with my dishes, I'm sure there are a lot of other appliances on the market that do just as well, and have a few more features for the price.

We bought this to replace a 7-yr-old Whirlpool that quit turning on. This is much quieter than our old one. You almost have to stand next to it to hear it running. Use the rinse aid as directed. The dishes come out clean and dry. Very happy with purchase so far.

Got a great deal on this dishwasher after our previous Maytag broke after 2.5 years. Prices were about the same. Pros: Dishwasher looks great, very easy to use. Works well. Cons: A little louder than our previous washer, set up is awkward. Our previous washer made it very easy for us to fit all kinds of stuff in plus our baby bottles. This one has been a little more cumbersome. The silverware also doesn't clean as well, it's just an open basket. So you definitely have to rinse the silverware before you put it in. Previous washer had individual separators for silverware. The biggest con though is that after the cycle is over, there's still quite a bit of condensation in the washer. Our previous washer, when we opened it, it was completely dry inside. Don't know if that means anything, but we did buy a warranty this time around.

We bought this model as an open box, but learned after a licenses install, that the door seal leaked. We called bestbuy and within 4 days a new model was delivered and installed. The return was easy, customer service was friendly and professional. When the installer returned, he confirmed that buying an open box item on floor display as they tend to get open and closed beyond the normal use. Overall a great unit, super quiet, sleek design, super water efficient.

    Poor cleaning and features

So, I'm kicking myself for buying this KitchenAid dishwasher. We were in the market for a new dishwasher because our current one was 15 years old and we were redoing our kitchen and going stainless on all the appliances. Well, this dishwasher doesn't clean nearly as well as our old one did. I'm now back to 'pre-washing' all the dishes before I put them in the dishwasher. And still, I often empty plates and glasses and put them right back into the kitchen sink to soak and scrub off caked on food. The racks are set up weird as well, but this is probably a function of our dishes. The old dishwasher held our plates, bowls, and glasses in place. With this KitchenAid, the plates are constantly falling over (Ptalzgraf plates), there's really no good place for bowls, and we've broken 4 beer glasses that fell over on the top shelf. And for an $800 dishwasher, it really should have, at the very least, a time delay start on it. I thought that was a standard function on all dishwashers these days. I really, really miss that function that was on my 15 year old dishwasher! I always do tons of research before I buy anything, but somehow I really blew this purchase. If I could return it I would in an instant but I waited to long. This ranks as one of my worst purchases.

it is a great product if you like design flaws

we purchased this dishwasher less than a year ago. it started out working great.....after about three months we called the appliance repairman to come and take a look at the horrible noise it was making and to check why the dishes were not getting clean. He looked at it and said that the garbage disposal feature was all clogged up...with what i asked...garbage. so i paid and extra couple hundred bucks for this feature and it doesnt even work properly. so after about a month the dishwasher starts making the same noise and once again the dishes are not getting clean. so after watching the appliance repair guy take apart this piece of junk apart and paying him $150 to clean the steel screen inside of the garbage disposal i figured that i since i am a pretty handy person (i am an electrician by trade) i could go ahead and remove the four screws by myself. so i went ahead and cleaned the the screen by myself. i put everything back back together (with no leftover parts like some people my have). once again the dishwasher works fine.....once again for three months. So two weeks ago i did the same thing. and then again today. However today i took a better look at it and noticed some serious design flaws. the shaft that spin the blades on the disposal is plastic. the lockring that is on it isnt in the correct place so the the blades will never spin. that is like buying a garage door that only opens half way and paying twice as much for it. then i took a look at the propeller that cleans the bottom rack and that is is a plastic piece that threads on to another part.....also plastic. i realize that it does come into contact with water and may rust if it were metal. However stainless steel does not. so the bottom lin is that i paid good money to get a stainless steel dishwasher and evertything is still made out of plastic. if you are thinking about getting this dishwasher go ahead and smack yourself in the head with a hammer, have your kids wash the dishes and save $700 bucks

    Don't buy this dishwasher!

What a mistake! I did a lot of research on the differences in efficiency and how clean the different machines got dishes, but I did not research repair history. This model has a big problem with control panel failure. It failed on the 62nd day after purchase. It is dead. Will not run at all. Best Buy offered nothing, except a visit from the Geek Squad in a week. I'm sick about this. I waited and saved up for a year for a new dishwasher, and this is a piece of junk. I used it very gently, exactly as instructed, with the products indicated. Ran it once a day, never overloaded. Wish I had read the reviews more carefully. Here and at other sites, it is clear this is a poorly designed, poorly made machine, and neither Best Buy nor KitchenAid stands behind it. My husband is ready to pull it out and leave it on the sidewalk in front of Best Buy.

The purchase and install went smoothly. My wife was very ill and when asked, the installers were very careful to be as quiet as possible. However, the door handle was loose and still is.

    Don't Buy This Dishwasher

This dishwasher has many design flaws. For the cost ($900+ installed), I expected more. After two years of use, we've had three service calls related to faulty parts. The plastic bottom rack wheels have broken three times and the rack constantly falls off the track when opening and closing the dishwasher. Although KitchenAid mailed new parts, it's a huge hassle. The top rack does not clean due to a clogged food trap and leaves an oily residue on dishes/glasses. I am tired of paying for service calls and plan to replace this machine with a competitor brand.

    Buyer Beware!

Our control panel has had to be replaced twice and it hasn't even been a year yet. The first time the dishwasher was not even a month old! Kitchen Aid does not stand behind it's product at all. Both repair people from different companies said Kitchen Aid has a real problem with their control panel. This second time it will be a month before the part comes in because it is back ordered because so many people are waiting for it. I will never buy anything from this company again. I will only buy GE from now on!

    Service is bad

The product might be great- but service you get with the Best Buy supplier is really bad. So I would think twice before buying it. Bought it on Black Friday (brand new!). They came late for the installation (outside the 4 hours window) and after they installed it- first time we tried to operate it didn't work. We called their service and they said that the control board is not working. (BTW- technician was great!) They refused to take the dishwasher back. Promised new control board in 1 week. They called a day before and said it will take more time (they said probably another week). In the mean time - we have no dishwasher. Promised 100$ compensation- so far we didn't get anything. It says that you have 10 days to return it to KitchenAid.... Tried calling also KitchenAid- after 1 hour of waiting on the line- they said "yes - you can return if you didn't install it....". Great. I regret buying from Pacific (Best Buy) and I regret using KitchenAid in US. Bottom line: we are 3 weeks after purchase- and still don't have a working dishwasher. I wouldn't buy Kitchen Aid because of their bad policy/service I wouldn't buy Pacific because of their bad service I really don't know how the product itself is- it might be great. I did see that there is no light on the front door to understand what's the status. I think this is a drawback.

    Not a good dishwasher

I am very disappointed with the performance of this dishwasher as a dishwasher. It looks good and is very quiet. But it does not wash the dishes half as well as the dishwahser it replaced after 12 years of service. Not happy at all. Will tread it in or sell it as soon as possible. Sorry.
