Great blend between Christmas, horror, and comedy.

Krampus is a very different Christmas horror(?) movie. You will either like it or hate it. To me the advertisements and Blu-ray covers are deceiving. The story is about a very dysfunctional family which disturbs the son so he turns his back on Christmas. What follows is mayhem. I didn't think this was very scary and may turn true horror fans away. Also, the Krampus helpers were kind of silly. But the theme and the actors are quite good. There are some major stars in this movie and the ending has a twist which will leave you contemplating on the ending. In retrospect, I did like this movie.

Def. In the same vein as Gremlins. Great creature feature.

I was expecting more from this movie. Then I noticed it was a PG-13 rating. It looks like a movie made for tv the way it fades in and out at times (for commercials).

This is our "Family" Christmas go-to movie. It has the feel of old-school horror movies as well as the added comedy bonus. If you love LOTR than you'll be happy to know that Weta studios was involved with the creature creations for the movie (which I nerded out and thought was pretty awesome). The soundtrack is fantastic and the storyline is as well. Dysfunctional family gets thrown "off" from the Christmas spirit and has to come together to survive. 5 Stars. :)

Non-traditional Christmas movies have become popular over the years, like "Die Hard" and "Gremlins". This is an excellent addition to that new style of Christmas movie and a modern classic on its own. With great humor, satire, and creative special effects and creatures, this movie stands out among modern movies. The "naughty cut" adds some extra dirty jokes and worthy scenes, but the 4K transfer is worth the purchase. Watch it on Black Friday, I think it's fitting.

Generally, I prefer my horror during halloween, and opt for the feel-good sentiments during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Krampus, however, is a fun diversion that doesn't take itself too seriously. I found that the horror wasn't particularly mean-spirited, and there was very little gore to speak of. There were definitely some scary images/creatures, so it's not for little ones, but I thought the overall tone was reminiscent of something like "Gremlins". Overall, a fun movie for something a little different during the holidays.
