Better than 1st Season, Needed a 3rd to be Super!

Krypton is a fascinating series in its premise - a chance to explore the distant history and mythology of Superman's home planet. That isn't what the first season (or second, really) is about but the second season comes much closer to that than the first did. The first season was deadly dull for...well...all of it. Even when things ramped up around episode 6 or 7, it then fell apart into a series of soapy "I love him I must betray my family" nonsense. Who. Cares? There's plenty of stuff where people can get THAT kind of storytelling. C'mon hollywood, creating stories and characters that audiences connect with doesn't always have to be about the same ol' same ol'. I understand budgets, and I understand TV Shows have them. But work within your budget so everything doesn't look like a cheap set recreating earth (this IS an alien planet, right...lol) or an animated movie (not that there's anything wrong with animated movies but this isn't one...it just sometimes looks like one...lol). You have Krypton two generations BEFORE Kal-El, and all we do with it is populate the show with...current superman supporting characters and villains. Adam Strange shows up in name only. He steals a zeta beam and ends up in the past on krypton? Ok...not Adam STrange. Just some guy with the same name (Adam Strange could TOTALLY work and is so needing some sort of show, animated movie or feature film...c'mon...he's cool in a 1950s sci fi way...). Doomsday?? he isn't even a great villain. Lobo? Ok, Lobo is awesome and portrayed well. He could work...he has a really long life span perhaps. LOL. Honestly, Lobo being in this season is what elevates it. Zod? Via time travel??? Zod isn't a household name. He isn't a huge draw. If you don't want to pay for existing licensed IP that fit into the timeline (and why would you?) than create your own characters. Develop stories around them and make it uniquely Krypton. Kinda...like the name of the show. I sound harsh, and I don't mean to be. Honestly, the show is entertaining if a bit slow and a lot cliched. The problem is that this is such a huge opportunity to develop mythology for the Superman Character in a way that will be relevant (you COULD tie in current superman media to it or leave it disconnected, after all Baby Kal-El didn't really spend much time on Krypton so his enculturation is very limited). You could create something exciting and unique that reflects issues of our time but in a safe manner allowing (and even challenging) people to think about things. This show is simply happy being a soap opera using names of superman characters. It does it well enough, but it's a shame because it could have been so much more. Of course it ends. On a cliffhanger. You lose a star for that...lol.

A solid show that unfortunately brought no closure

The second season of "Krypton" ups the ante with the introduction of several familar character in the DC Universe including Lobo & Doomsday while expanding on the Superman mythos. Unfortunately the series was cancelled as the a possible third seasons promised a potential interesting storyline involving the Thanagarians. The second season comes recommended for fans who purchased the second season but newcomers looking to get into the series may not want to dive in as it brings no closure.

The most interesting thing abewt this show is Lobo! And that's saying something as I've never been a fan, but I do have a fan-made shorts collection, on being A Paramilitary Christmas, starring a passable Lobo. I want to see a movie. I'd especially like a Steve Bisley cartoon, done with cg to perfectly capture The Biz' style. That said, it wasn't as mind-numbing as a season of Arrowverse with its 'everybody's the same' dullness. Bleh. I haven't even watched more than three eps of S3 of Legends and have owned it for a year, just bought S4 and haven't watched it, and am waiting til later before I buy S5. It's just too much mediocrity too soon. I have all of Supergirl, Green Arrow, and Batwoman, The Flash S2, 4, &5. The shows are all Berlantivision, from the same producer. This prequel feels more like the other DCverses: Doom Patrol, Gotham, the original John Wesley Shipp Flash. I just feel like the major lifts aren't from the live action shows, but the animated ones. The Batman cartoons especially feel cinematic: Hush, Year One, Dark Kngiht Returns, Gotham By Gaslight, Ninja, Gotham Knights. They have an edge to them the live action shows lack, primarily because you can't kill a cartoon with a stunt gone wrong, and so can have real, genuine hurt in it without sacrificing your stunt team. I came up in the 70s, when those shows were in their infancy in terms of fx and story. Captain America movies were TV only before Albert Pyun did the first feature. It went right to video, but at least Cap LOOKED like Cap. Now it's all about the glamour hair and face recognition. Character is there, but just not the same. I don't own S1 of this show, but will soon. I hope DC shows will be at least as good as Doom Patrol. And this one has Colin Salmon!!

    A Bittersweet Review

Well, dang! Here is another one of those well produced TV series, with great actors, stunning sets, and a credible plot line - and it gets cancelled. This second season continues the story line, set on pre-explosion Krypton, that began in Season 1. Unfortunately, it's the final season, as well, so events that were set up for Season 3 and beyond will remain unresolved. Even so, unless you are mired in thrall to the mindless "reality" shows that have consumed most TV hours these days, it is still worthwhile to catch these two seasons of this show.

Krypton: The Complete Second and Final Season

The Second and Final Season of Krypton was great. I wish they continued this series because I know I enjoyed it. The characters are interesting and the whole setting of Krypton is interesting to me. The final season seemed a lit better than the first. I felt like they out a lot into it. I’ve shared this series with my parents and they love it. The bluray is just superb. I’ve been watching it on my LG 55” 91 NanoCell.

What a crime that this is the swan song for the series. I almost didn't pick up season 2 because the first season was just so-so. Some of the acting and special effects were hit or miss. Everything improved in season 2 will bigger set pieces, much better effects and better writing. It just pains me to know we will never see more stories from Krypton and the origin of Superman's parents.

A good storyline giving us some depth to the Superman legacy. Going back a couple of generations allowed for quite a bit of speculating about the politics of a doomed world. Some tie-ins from the Clark Kent/Superman era help to anchor the whole process. Wished it would have gone longer but grab both seasons and binge them

I will admit I had been putting off the purchase (not just because the series was not renewed) hoping for a lower price. I actually bought two copies to have a gift for a friend of mine. The picture was better than when the series was broadcast on SYFY (on SPECTRUM). The true ending of the tale is left to one's imagination.

I liked the concept of Krypton. I did not catch it when it was on the SCYFY network. Good story and visual effect. Unfortunately, the series died before the storyline ended. A must have for any collector.

Krypton was a surprise to see a return to the origin story of Superman's homeworld in such epic scale on TV. The final season doesn't disappoint and is well worth picking up when it goes on sale. The effects and sound are top notch nearly being big screen worthy.

This short lived series only lasted two seasons. We were excited to see that Season Two was available on Blu-Ray / Digital for this years Online Black Friday sale. When you can pick up an entire season for that price, you'd be crazy not to get it.

Wish this this show had more to expand its universe but it's a blessing that it was on Blu-ray when so many other shows are only on DVD or not released at all. Good video and audio. That's to be expected from Blu-ray. And this release delivers.

Krypton on paper was an eye roller for sure. But the show had plenty to offer. General Zod, Brainiac finally in live action. This show had legs, too bad they're water was cut off too soon. Worth a view!

For the first time you see the story behind the greatest hero legend of all time...how his home planet came into being, some of his family history, and one of the possible origins for the one character who would ultimately be the death of Superman... Doomsday

Krypton is definitely worth buying. The series was only 2 season’s long but it’s a origin of Superman’s family history and takes place around his Grandfather. It’s a solid series and worth adding to the movie collection.

I was actually very disappointed with the character development in season one but season 2 definitely improved on that and improved on other aspects of the show where season one failed. It's a shame that there won't be another season.

Kryptonite is a great show. Season 2 was outstanding. Unfortunately, SyFy Channel did it's usual bang up job when it comes to advertising, then cancelled the show just as it hit its stride. The show is awesome. You can't go wrong here

While the first season was okay, it lacked an overall identity. Season 2 comes in swinging hard and nails it. It’s such a great season and it’s story is so engaging. Another DC show cancelled too soon
