I was a little weary of a cardboard project, but this is well designed. Took me and my 8 year old grandson about 6-8 hours over a couple days to build it. He was able to do all the work. Great, easy to follow and fun instructions are on the Switch itself. We still have to assemble the “tools” that allow you to modify the experience on the TV. He really had a lot of fun.

When. My son first wanted this I was pretty much at a "I'm not paying that much for cardboard" well he saved his money and purchased it. From the build to the play it's been an absolute hoot. If you want your kid off the couch and he wants to play video games this is an excellent item. It is built well and sturdy, it exceeded my expectations on every level. In a few years if he grows tired of it and it ends up in the garbage it's nice to know it's completely biodegradable.

First of all, this took me four hours to assemble. It was really something. That said, assembling it gives you a real understanding for how it works, and for capabilities that you maybe never knew were built into your Nintendo Switch. As tiring as the assembly process was, the end result was me thinking that the folks at Nintendo are brilliant on a level that really no other game company is right now. The use (and accuracy) of the sensors in the joy-cons along with the Labo kit are just brilliant. So, if you appreciate imaginative and (after assembly) fun products, and have the patience to do the build, you will probably have the same reaction I did, which is...wow. Nintendo is doing some impressive work right now.

    My inner child was screaming

I preordered this while the Nintendo Direct was happening live. I instantly got goosebumps. I was thinking if all the possibilities there would be for kids to learn STEM. For me as an adult, my inner child was screaming. When 420 came around I couldnt get off work sooner. My gf and I were having a Labo party with a couple friends building their own (yes we are all adults) The game comes in a big slightly heavy box. I cant believe it's all cardboard. I appreciated that the game came with instructions built in, and a 360 rotate feature so you could watch the instructions in real time and all angles. I think every kid would be thrilled and preoccupied with how hands on and how cool this actually is!. The cardboard suit took me about 3.5 hours. I was really impressed how they use the pulley system, and how you create your own weights. Very cool! It was a bit messy, as you can see in some of my pics. The floor didnt take too long. Just take out the vacuum and use the attachment to suck all the little pieces up. I was worried that it wouldn't fit me since this is designed for children. I am very proud to say it fits comfortably as a 6'1 man and 250lbs In my other picture it shows my 5'0 gf 100lbs also wearing it very comfortably. The game is very shallow however it is a exercise game wrapped up into something appealing. This could keep your kid occupied for awhile, but as an adult I wanted more. The suit itself though is still very cool. I hope more games come out that utilize the suit. This was very fun to put together though. Almost worth it for that.

This will take a very long time to build (4 hours). Especially if you do it with a little one (I have a 6 year old). But we did it together and he felt very accomplished when it was finished. The robot game itself may get boring for an older kid. But my 6 year old hasn't been able to put it down. For older kids, there is a discovery section where you learn to customize your own labo items. So if they're into STEM type projects, they'll enjoy it

Let's face it, in this day with technology and screens everywhere, it's going to be near impossible to keep our kids off it. This is at least a bandaid on that issue. My kid loved the building of this robot, it took a lot of time and he was anxious from the time he opened the box to get going. I will say you do have to be careful with some of the parts when popping them out of the cardboard. More than once we had some issues with things almost ripping. The game is fun, and let us spend a lot of time building the item together. I'm not sure how long the appeal will last htough, as it seems the biggest appeal is the building part. Once it's built, not sure the game itself will hold its own very long.

This was born out of Japanese Culture.

I pre-order this package because of many things: 1. As a VR AR developer, I am frustrated with the poor controller design by HTC, Oculus, Daydream, and Gear VR. LABO is a breakthrough and an inspiration for specialty controllers. 2. Grow up with Anime and Japanese toys. Cardboard is a very important component in this experience. From the monthly children learning magazine's folding cardboard toys to the famous anime characters and robots made of cardboard, LABO is the next big thing to extend this cultural significance. However, I don't think Americans would appreciate cardboard as much as Japanese do other than packing materials. 3. Putting this together by yourself is long and painful. It is like experiencing one of those love of first sight romance with a quick burn out. The robot box is so many works. We only played for about 30 mins, I had not touched it for the past 3 weeks. I recommend starting with the other box set first.

The robot Labo is fun to build and the game is fun for about 2 hours. I did it all myself so I think with a second person it'll be much more fun. It took about 4-5 hours to build the robot because there are a lot of tiny pieces to put together.

The kit has everything you need, with lots of extra cardboard. No scissors needed, you just pop them out and fold them. In fact no extra anything is needed, just your patience. The building process was not bad, took maybe a little over an hour. The game card that came with it shows the instructions step by step. You can also fast forward it if you feel like it’s too slow for you, especially with repetitive steps. You can also track back should you slow down or get distracted. The game is ok, fun, yes, but the novelty wears off quickly. Now the cardboard robot and the game just sits there gathering dust. Still good, just not interesting enough after a day or two. Would recommend to buy on good sale price only.

It's hard to write a review for something that was returned unopened. It looks like a great concept to teach building and modifying and being more active . My 17-year-old was not interested in it at all, so we returned it. Probably perfect for 8 to 13 year olds.

Me and my son still play this game together almost a year later. We bought it during quarantine to have something to do together. the building is defiantly a long term thing. I would recommend this for little older kids then my son at the age of 4. I know the box says older ages haha. It took me almost all day to build not cause it was hard but there is just a million steps. Once built game is so fun and a total party game to laugh at friends while they play. Even after a year theres no damage to any of the cardboard it all still looks the same cords not fraying or anything. Something to keep in mined is that the straps do hurt your arms after a while. Had to put a towel under neath for my son for him to play comfortably.

The instructions are super easy to follow. Putting this thing together is very time consuming. I don't see much replay value in it. Ultimately this will end up in a corner and eventually in the recycle bin. If you enjoy Lego products this may be for you

So much fun for kids and gets their brains involved with the building. There is definitely a sense of accomplishment when what they build becomes part of the game.

    Fun to Craft and Build

It was fun building it - even though it took around 4 hours to craft. The instructions with the visuals were clear and concise - sometimes even providing creative and entertaining commentary on certain steps. The pistons are an interesting and well-thought idea for the game's way of sensing your movement. However when putting it on and playing the game, the scary thought of breaking it crosses one's mind. Not only that, but the things to do with the robot after a while seemed lackluster. However, overall, it was fun to build and a unique way to play video games.

Labo is fun and the directions are easy to follow. The price is a little high and once built the robot takes up more room than I'd like, but I'm happy with my purchase.
