    This is an awesome portable 1TB hard drive for the price. I use the FireWire port to connect to my laptop but yes it is USB 3.0 compatible which is actually faster than FireWire but I have no devices that have 3.0 ports.

    Purchased this to use to make back up copy of my MacBook Pro that has FireWire 800 but not USB 3.0. FireWire is well on it's way out and wanted this drive as it was the only one with FireWire 800. Works well.

    I've always had great luck with Lacie drives. We use them to offload video footage and send it to clients via a shipping service. They have always been reliable.
