Only one thing I found odd
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this external HDD for my brother doing his vlogs and for his upcoming youtube series. The one thing that was interesting was that you had to install the software before using the HDD. I've used many external HDD's before and that was the first time I HAD to do that. Most of the time the software is there and I just reformat it so it can be used on both Mac and PC + not have a 4gb transfer limit (since most HD videos after rendering are 10+GBs. It was dropped once and still works incase you're wondering about the "Rugged"ness.

Expensive, but if you really need FireWire...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The base Rugged 1TB drive has USB 3, plenty fast enough for just about anything. This unit adds FireWire along with a higher price tag. FireWire drives can typically be daisy chained with other FireWire drives - but not other USB drives. Too bad FireWire will probably soon join VHS and 8-Track tapes in the graveyard of once useful things. Better to save your cash and get the 1TB rugged drive instead (or the 2TB rugged drive, if you can find one). On USB, both drives are essentially identical.
