These hard drives being ruggedized are great when traveling. I can use them in carry-on or checked bags without worry of the drive being harme. I have several of these drives that I use for all of my pictures.

Firewire800 ports on a 2012 or older Mac are fast and stable. USB 3 is there for everything else including newer Macs. My 5 year old version of this same drive is still in great shape.

I already had one of these drives and when a seagate drive failed, I only considered this one for a replacement. I have to carry it around a lot and I needed some "bounce" protection.

I bought this drive to use as a multi track recording drive. I used it with the QSC TM16 and tracked 16channels at 32bit floating without fail. Love it.

Using this drive to capture large files from recording sessions for editing and adding parts. Works great.

I've owned other lacie products. They never let me down. This one is no exception. I love it's rugged design.

They're convenient and necessary. I would recommend these to people who create digital content.

Great size and fast enough, and Firewire too, you Mac users! (Only good because the drive is 5400RPM, and would've preferred faster, but the Firewire/USB3.0 interface is sweet.)

I have used many different external hard drives over the years. The Lacie rugged has proved to me to be the most reliable. While others have simply failed or have had to have their outer cases replaced, the rugged drive keeps on running. Very fast and compact. Such a small device to hold 1 TB of information.

ZERO STARS!! As I stated in an earlier review, this purchase marks the limit of my patience with Best Buy. I had previously purchased online an external hard drive which the Best Buy website stated was Windows XP compatible. It was not. I went to a Best Buy store for an exchange. I selected the only drive available which claimed to be XP compatible. I was charged extra for the new drive. When I got home, I found that the new drive would not power up or mount. I returned AGAIN and was given credit for the original purchase, omitting the upcharge for drive #2. Polite words fail to express my sense of anger and disgust. I have been a long and faithful patron of Best Buy, but I doubt I will ever enter be returning.

As a graphics student, I needed a large portable drive to easily carry my work around on. I decided on the LaCie Rugged because I could easily put it in my bag and not worry about having to be too delicate with it. I love the FireWire 800, it transfers my files in no time and it looks great!

A great little drive, portable, rugged and good-looking. The data is encrypted and the storage capacity is pretty good. The casing is made of strong metal and rubber, and the drive comes with free 10 GB of cloud storage, which is perfect for my needs. I'm very pleased with this product.
