I would say unless ultra-portability is a NECESSITY, buy a budget gaming laptop for around the same price. A laptop would have much more performance.

Crashing issue

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although SteamOS is aimed more at gaming vs the traditional windows experience… certain software’s are not compatible making it extremely difficult to play certain games due to anti-cheat software. That’s of course without modifying the device which takes money, time and some computer know-how. To name a few games that you are NOT able to play native with SteamOS GTA, Battlefield, COD… the list goes on. If you do like these titles, it’s probably best to get the windows version to play them natively.

Steam ran perfectly fine but did feel like it was an cheaper version of big picture mode.

It's also not as ergonomic and lacks the dual touch pads on either side compared to the SD.

Regarding your note on battery life, the Z1 Extreme is designed to pack a punch, which can sacrifice battery, but this can be adjusted. Depending on the demand of the game you're playing, by pressing the Legion R button to launch the quick menu, you can switch to lower power mode to save battery. In the menu, under the performance tab, users can toggle thermal modes and prioritize battery life by using the default mode or creating a custom thermal mode should you not be satisfied with the 3 presets. These adjustments can also be made by going into Legion Space > Settings (Legion Space can be launched quickly by pressing the Legion L button (Legion Logo above the button).

horrible experience, poorly designed input

By the time it arrived and his birthday came it was about 10 days after i purchased the device. He is a child with a disability and has pretty specific controller needs. he has used a steam deck before but never the trackpoint like on this device. I have no idea why they would chose to use this form of input but it is all but unusable. if you need any degree of precision dont bother as a steamdeck allows for much better aiming and control. when i attempted to return it, despite it being within the window for return from when the device arrived BB would not accept it back. buyer beware. go to amazon or literally any other retailer and i would strongly recommend waiting for the Z2 to come out which will likely have full sized trackpads or just get an oled steamdeck

WiFi broken on arrival

Called support who refused to believe this wasn't a Windows machine. No help. Since Best Buy only accepts returns for two weeks there's nothing to do. Will not purchase electronics from Best Buy again.

Order arrived a month later

Apparently they never delivered but one day it was sitting on my doorstep. BEST BUY LACK TO TRACK MY item and never issued me a refund but regardless I got it on September 1 but I ordered it August 12 should of been here August 14
