Best LEGO Game Adaption of a Movie in Years

    |
    Posted .

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the most creative, well-paced, and fun LEGO game in years. Developer Traveler's Tales always displays a keen love and affection for its source material, but with this take on the most recent Star Wars movie, it tells an entertaining story that pays wonderful tribute to Episode VII through a slew of smart puzzles and unique characters. Unlike the disjointed storytelling in the disappointing LEGO Marvel’s Avengers, The Force Awakens uses dialogue from the film effectively. The story of Rey, Finn, and company follows the same path as the movie, while also throwing in a bunch of really clever gags and goofs. Whether you're wandering through the ruins of Maz Kanada’s castle, overhearing some weird creatures talk about where they’re going to drink next, and having one of them suggest his old watering hole on Tatooine will leave a big grin on your face. It even handles heavy events, like the death of a beloved character, with a solid dose of humor and charm. That is what a LEGO game should be like. The Deluxe Edition includes an outer box with a holographic cover, and within you get the game pack, plus the Season Pass DLC slip, the Empire Strikes Back DLC slip, and a physical LEGO Finn mini-figure!

We love all the Lego XBox games

My kids and I have been playing the Lego Xbox games since they first came out and even now that they are older they still love them and we still play them together which is sometimes tough getting them to do things with me now that they are older but they still enjoy this and it's kind of a fun family game instead of them just killing zombies or enemy soldiers online with their friends. Lego/XBox does a great job of following the movies and also add a bunch of fun extras and challenges. We've done all the Star Wars ones and this one is great like the others. I highly recommend this Lego game and all the others we have played: Lego Harry Potter, Lego Batman, Lego Indiana Jones, Lego The Avengers, Lego Lord of the Rings, Lego Hobbit, Lego Movie, Lego Jurassic World. Buy all of them, they are all fun!!

Fun for young and old alike, especially co-op

The LEGO games are always a welcome addition to the games collection in my house. They're usually clever (especially the early ones that didn't have dialogue), with puzzles that aren't too difficult for younger kids to figure out. This one starts with a Prologue section involving the Endor forest from Return of the Jedi, so you get speeder bikes, AT-STs, stormtroopers, Ewoks and all sorts of goodies from one of the OT movies. It's always satisfying to get "True Jedi" after completing a level. The minikits are cool, it's fun to unlock all the different characters, and I like seeing the little ones have to use their brains a bit to switch characters or work together to complete objectives efficiently. Plus you get the bonus of the SW soundtrack to keep you immersed in that universe. You can play by yourself, but why? Co-op is an absolute blast, and an older child or adult can help the younger ones and both have a great time together.

    Pure Lego Star Wars fun

    |
    Posted .

The first time I reviewed this game was for the PS4 version of the game I bought for myself upon release. This time I'm reviewing the XBONE version because I bought it as a gift for a friend who owns an Xbox One. That's how much I love this game. Highly recommend this to any Star Wars fan and/or Lego fan. Especially if you like the Lego games. HOWEVER, THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE CONSOLE VERSIONS!! A small but notable one, that is. The PLAYSTATION versions get extra "exclusive" content. PlayStation versions get the Droid Characters pack DLC and the Phantom Limb level DLC. So if you own both consoles you'd do well to get the PlayStation version instead. Hope this review helps!

Fun, but falls short of greatness

I've played all the Lego Star Wars games and Lego Marvel Super Heroes and I can safely say that if you liked those, you'll probably like this one as well. I certainly do, though since the game focuses on the repetitive and unoriginal plot of the Force Awakens movie, the levels suffer as a result. Let's just say that an entire level of exploring Maz Kanata's castle and another level of helping Leia clean up the Resistance base does not make for thrilling gameplay. Main story aside, the amount of SW characters, ships, and collectibles makes up for a lackluster campaign. The side missions are fun, the humor is of course on point and the game feels like a love letter to the source material without it feeling like cynical pandering *cough*like the movie*cough*. The deluxe edition's presentation is gorgeous, and the Finn lego figure inside is a nice treat. I'm glad I went for this edition. On the gameplay end, it's fun if you know what you're getting into. My game has frozen about 4 times though so idk if that's just my copy or if that's a more common thing. It's a good game but for me, it's not great.

    A Perfect CO-Op Couch Game

I have several other Lego games that I have enjoyed with my wife Yeah this is a good game for kids but it's a cool way to squeeze in gaming & the premise of a date nite trust me this take-out you're set ! Same graphics per say which are really good not aiming & firing weapons, as well as multiple choices in building different objectives, breathes life into this franchise.Overall excellent game decent puzzles the 1 other thing I would say read each character unlike Marvel games which the superheroes are easy to say can do a puzzle Star Wars is a little more involved reading the description is a bonus .

    Entertaining for the kids

We own all the previous Lego Video Games and wen I first heard about this game I was wondering... "How in the heck are they going to fill up a whole game with just one movie?" Most of these games cover more than one movie and/or have original content/extensive free play to fill out the game. I'm glad to report my kids enjoy it and there are a bunch of side missions. The vehicle stages are the best yet. When they first introduced vehicle stages back in Lego Marvel back in 2013, the flying/moving/driving game mechanics left much to be desired in terms of ease of control which drove our family crazy. It's a lot easier and more natural to control movements now. They recorded new diaglogue for this which was cool... but for me at least.. the traditional Lego humor has been turned down for this one.. which is a disappointment. Overall.. the kids had and continue to have a blast playing this game, so go ahead and get this.

    Great Lego bundle

    |
    Posted .

This is a great bundle for a gamer and collector alike. Not only do you get Lego Star Wars Force Awakens, but you also get the special limited edition box, the Finn Lego Figure, and the Season Pass full of DLC which is a must for big Star Wars (and more specifically Star Wars Legos) fans alike. I'm usually hesitant to buy season pass game bundles, but I think this one is worth it P.S. You also get the awesome poster, a character pack which is fun, and a Empire strikes back pack. So the value for the price is great

Good, but not as much fun as Avengers

    |
    Posted .

I've played all the Lego games, and this one is good, just not as great or fun as Avengers or Jurassic World. The new "battle mode" for shooting was different, just not something I liked much. They're trying to keep things fresh, I get it. Just didn't add much to me. The bits that kind of annoyed me was that after you're done with the main quests and chasing after all the various gold bricks, you'd be tasked to a mission that would take you away from the planet you were on, do the mission, then bring you back. So there were extra load times & waiting as a result. So, took me out of the game a bit when that happened. Again, overall, a good game. You won't be completely disappointed. But if making a decision between this one and Jurassic or Avengers, I'd choose one of the others.

One of the Best in the Lego Gaming Franchise

    |
    Posted .

This has been one of my favorite Lego games so far. Mission were fun. Getting all gold bricks felt like less of a slog than many of the other Lego games (and I have played almost all of them.) There were some new additions to the mechanics, such as blaster battles and multi-builds. Blaster battles play out like an over the shoulder, 3rd person shooter for portions of the game where you are required to take out many enemies. Multi-builds are areas where you can choose how you want to build bricks and figures into many puzzle-solving areas that I found mostly entertaining. The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars was some bugs, like game freezing and having to restart the game to get missions to appear. These type of issues seem like they are in every Lego game. But overall a great game.

Best Lego Star Wars game yet.

    |
    Posted .

This game does a spectacular job of adapting The Force Awakens. Every scene from the movie is represented in either a cutscene or a level. All the actors returned to reprise their roles. That means new lines from Rey, Finn, Poe, Kylo Ren, Han Solo, Leah, and Captain Phasma. The only negative is the innitial load time is pretty long, and some of the bonus levels are kinda small. You also can't play free play in the hub worlds until you finish the game. All the new gameplay additions are fun, and the charcter annimations are fantastic. From Kylo Ren pulling an enemy in close to slash them up, to Palpatine doing his lunging spin move he uses in Revenge of the Sith. You can tell these guys are fans.

    Fun Game!

    |
    Posted .

I've always been a fan of the Star Wars Lego games, naturally, I have to add this one to my collections. If you played the other Lego games, you will be familiar with this one. It's pretty much the same concept as the other games, but there are some new features added. Now you have the options to use the Lego bricks for multi-builts, where you can create several different items with a single pile of bricks to solve puzzles. There's also some new gameplay added, like the duck and cover ala Gears of War. It also includes back stories that you can play as "special mission" by collecting gold bricks, that will fill in the story gap between ROTJ and FA. All in all, it's a fun game!

    Best LEGO Game in Years

Just when you think the LEGO games are getting stale, they go and make the new Star Wars game entertaining, reasonably easy to play, and fun as heck. There are new puzzle types to try and solve, it follows the plot of Force Awakens (with little liberties taken for entertainment's sake) and pays homage to the classic movies. Packed full of characters and forthcoming DLC this will entertain kids and adults alike.

    Amazing, per norm

This game is the latest in the very successful Lego series of games, and it does not disappoint. It has the fun, excitement, inside jokes, and challenge that we have come to expect in the Lego games. As usual, they capture the fun and spirit of their object - The Force Awakens - with the normal amount of homage, satire, and all around story. A great game, a smart purchase, and worthwhile investment.

    The Trifecta!!!

A wonderful treat for any Lego, Star Wars, and video game fan...the true trifecta. I purchased this as a gift for my eight year old son's birthday. He absolutely went nuts!!! Even better, his 12 year old and 14 year old brothers were equally as entertained and even a 50 year old Dad had a go at it. You won't be disappointed with this game. Absolutely worth every penny!!!!

    Another Great Lego Game

    |
    Posted .

Ok people will say that this is the same as any other lego game, just with a different setting. While this is true, why fix what isn't broken. If you love Star Wars you're in already. Me, the fact that my son is now old enough to start enjoying these things seals the deal as we can play together. Yes it is simple game play, but the humor of lego and the style are still great.

Lego games have done it again!

This game was great! I loved how they put the voices from the movie in the game like they did with the lego lord of the rings. I highly recommend adding this game to your lego game collection. I haven't found any use for the season pass yet but I'm hoping they add more maps because the shocking part is the beginning where they start off at the end of episode VI.

My son LOVES Lego games. My wife gets sucked into the story as well. Goes along with the movie storyline so you have a sense of what you need to do. This one is a fave as there's fighting, flying, puzzle solving, and it's squeaky clean - totally family friendly. The graphics on this one are a significant upgrade compared to prior Lego games. Plenty of fun!
