Perfect Laptop For The Money After SSD Upgrade

I purchased this laptop on Black Friday for an amazing deal. The specs on paper can't be beat for the price. Getting an AMD A-12 with 8gig DDR4 for under $400 is unreal. I soon learned why they laptop is under $400.
After booting and going through all the Microsoft updates and Lenovo hardware update, I quickly leaned why this laptop is so affordable. Boot time to OS and opening apps is horrible. My 10 year old HP laptop was faster. All of this changed after an SSD upgrade.
Do yourself a favor and only buy if you have the knowhow and the extra $50-$150 to upgrade to an SSD. If your budget doesn't allow, please skip this purchase.
How to upgrade to SSD (use directions below at own risk):
1. Purchase an SSD ( I went with a 240 gig Sandisk from Best Buy).
2. Purchase cloning hardware/software to move from HDD to SSD. I went with Apricorn EZ Gig.
3. Turnoff laptop and flip over to remove all the bottom screws,
4. Slide out DVD/CD Rom drive.
5. Use small plastic prey tool to lift up all areas of the bottom cover from the laptop. There are tiny plastic snaps all across the bottom case.
6. Locate HDD and slide out hard drive housing from the SATA connection of the computer.
7. Remove old hard drive from hard drive housing and place new SSD in it's place and re-install.
After this, you should now enjoy a much better experience. Boot times will be significantly better along with opening apps. Don't believe the reviews that you can game on this lap top. That's what desktop gaming computers are for. An AMD A-12 processor is at the top of the AMD line, but still way behind Intel. I would compare this processor to an older Intel i-5 (fourth or fifth gen). If you don't believe me, look at Pasmark results.
Overall this is a great buy if you do the hard drive upgrade. Shame on Lenovo for using a garbage hard drive from the factory. Seagate does make some great hard drives, but the one used is junk. SSDs are much faster at a higher cost of $ per gig. If you really need the extra room and better performance, Seagate does make Hybrid drives (Firecuda) that go up to 2TB. Make sure you buy the 2.5" hard drives.

We purchased this computer for our high schooler who does a lot of speech and debate, she loves it. She says it's fast and easy to use.

I love this laptop. I will give it a 4 out of 5 because it's not perfect but for the price you do get a lot of bang for your buck. It's fast enough to strong enough to do your everyday computing on. I use office for a lot of work and it performs well. I also use it for games and it holds up on medium settings.
Again for the price it's great. The sound quality is not great however. There is an easy fix, get a good speaker for it.

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaPad 320-15 laptop. It is normal for the fan to run to keep the system operating at normal temperatures. It is possible that there are BIOS/driver updates that can adjust fan throttling if it has changed since you initially purchased the computer. Follow the link below to look for new driver updates for your specific system. You can also run diagnostics from the Lenovo site as well. As always, be sure to create a restore point on your system before you make any changes. You can do this by just typing "restore point" in the search window within Cortana and follow the link to create a restore point. Read a lot of reviews before buying, and a lot of people said the screen is dull, and they are correct. However, it is good enough quality for general stuff, but probably wouldn't be your choice for gaming and I don't game. It seems to be pretty fast and works fine. I do not like Windows 10, but guess that's what we're stuck with from Microsoft (been thinking about learning Lennox to get away from Microsoft, although I loved Windows 7 and XP). Any issues I really have with this machine Windows 10 fault, like trying to stream to your TV. Would have given 5 stars except for the screen display and Windows 10. Might have given 5 stars if it had Windows 7 because of the price, got it on Deal of the Day for $299. But if you need a cheap laptop it will definitely do for you.

Purchased the discounted "OPEN BOX SATISFACTORY"

I took the risk to save money and purchased the "OPEN-BOX SATISFACTORY" model at the store (the table in back loaded with misfits). No problems thus far. Works perfectly. It replaced by old and tired HP laptop that I've probably had since 2009. I wasn't in the mood to shop, compare prices or read reviews, just lived on the edge and grabbed the first one I saw with at least a 15" screen and a 10 key (aka number pad). It did not have a box, paperwork or anything, just a power cord taped to it.

This is a replacement for my older laptop with i3 4005u. This laptop has a slightly faster CPU and great graphics. However, the display is annoying. It is very difficult to get the right brightness and angle to view. I will recommend this item if one can use an external monitor instead. Nevertheless, this is a great buy for the price.

Well, if you just need something very cheap to work on then it's tolerable. Otherwise get something better. This thing looks cheap to me. For the first time in my life I felt nothing unboxing a new purchase. Screen - the viewing angle is so narrow that the upper corners turn negative when you look at the center of the screen at 90 degrees. I was shocked this kind of quality still exists in 2017! Another annoying thing is a tiny "vacuum cleaner" imbedded in it - I mean the cooling fan. It will drive you crazy. Battery life is a joke too. I realize that for some this would be a solution to their computing needs. However if you are one of those who must enjoy their tech avoid this one. Returned after a day of usage, still looking for something better.

I was pleasantly surprised with the laptop. Initial setup did take a while but it was because of the windows 10 update. Laptop is fast and does what it is supposed to do. My only complaint is the touch pad only with the left and right click buttons since the buttons have the touch sensor as well if you move your finger while clicking the cursor moves and you do not click where you intended on clicking. I liked it so much I purchased a 17 inch Lenovo laptop

This laptop has it all. It can play disks and back up your new smartphone with the 3.1 type C port without an adaptor. USBs are only 3.0 but that's ok. With the AMD A12 and graphics card it will handle any game you throw at it. I thought the price was a mistake. I'm buying another one tomorrow to give it as a gift. If your looking for a hearty laptop look no further.

For a budget laptop, I got a great deal. This thing works quickly no matter which program I throw at it. Photoshop, Lightroom, and even AutoCAD Civil 3D performed very quickly on this machine.
I'm no gamer, so the screen didn't need to be great. (It's not) But it does everything I need it to do and the color reproduction is accurate.
For some odd reason, my fios router did not work well with this. However, a third party t-link did and fast!

I purchased this laptop in a rush, I needed one with a lot of storage and one that was cheap and thankfully I found this one. For the first couple of days the fan was running nonstop and very loudly but that was just all my files downloading, and now it’s perfect and quiet with a lot of room left.
