Very Good Laptop, but even i7 cpu is too slow

But I think that might be typical for other laptops in this range

Be sure there are no unwanted programs running in the background on your device running down the battery. Also, With regard to the battery life, try changing your power management setting to a more conservative one. You can do this in the control panel, in the power management category on your system. Select a more conservative power management setting to extend battery life.

It's not the reason for my low score, they were just preferences. But then the sound went out completely at the 2 week mark, so I returned it. But it did have a beautiful, clear screen.

Posted .It sounds like there was a conflict with an automatic Windows 10 update and an older audio driver. Follow the link below to look for new audio driver updates for your specific system. You can also run diagnostics from the Lenovo site as well. As always, be sure to create a restore point on your system before you make any changes. You can do this by just typing "restore point" in the search window within Cortana and follow the link to create a restore point. Here is the link:

Super frustrated with this...

Most recently and reason I plan to return this Lenovo laptop is that the speakers stopped working. Best Buy techs remotely "fixed" the problem, however now in order to get the speakers to work I have to restart the laptop every time! Super frustrated with this very expensive, top of the line laptop!!!

Posted .This sounds like an issue with a Windows 10 update. You might try restoring to factory default settings. This system is equipped with OneKey Recovery System. There is a very small pin hole on the left side of the device, right near the headphone port on the device. You will need a pin to push this reset button. Plug the device in. Let the battery charge for about 15 minutes. Push the reset button. The system should boot to a choice screen where you can choose "Restore To Factory Default". Select this. It will delete everything from the hard drive except the original factory install of the operating system. You will need to reinstall all programs and files after the reset. If you don't have copies of the files, try to make one before you restore by selecting "Boot to desktop" and trying to back up your files.

But the display started to freak out on me almost instantly, and nothing would fix it, including updating the drivers. Also, it has the strangest keyboard layout - the right shift key is in the wrong location. I wish it would have worked.

Two potential concerns: 1) shift key is not standard, takes some getting use too, 2) power block plugs awkwardly and directly into the power outlet.

With regard to the right shift key issue you mention, there is a free software APP called KeyTweak that may help you. You can switch the key functions of specific keys on your keyboard with this software, so you could change the right shift key with the key you hit in its place. Just Google search "KeyTweak" and you will find articles about what the software does and you will find the download location for this free APP.

Geek Squad was helpful when it turned out Office had been installed But not activated. A first laptop takes a little getting used to, but I'm very happy with it.

Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This is the most expensive and least reliable laptop I've ever had. Within a few months of purchase, I had to have the screen replaced because it separated from the frame. The laptop was not dropped or handled roughly. I also get an error message regarding my webcam and am, therefore, unable to use it which has been an inconvenience at work. Sometimes, I can't get the screen to turn on even when the power light is on. Other times, the screen will randomly go black if I move it even slightly. I've also had issues with USB connections. Everyday, I regret buying this laptop even more.

This Laptop is configured with traditional USB ports, so if you're in need of USB-C you will need to purchase a converter. All-in-All, the price on this Laptop made it a good choice given the 4K, 15.6" Display. If you store a ton of information, the 256GB SSD could be limiting, so be prepared to manage this.
