    Laptop = good. Windows 10 = bad.

    Posted .

Purchased for my mother who was using an older Satellite. She accidentally updated to Windows 10 a few years back. After playing with this new Lenovo, I really hope 7 will always be around. I have been spending the last week trying to remove any & all bloat-ware, be it Lenovo or Microsoft. Also every time I turn it on, there is a new pop-up requiring an answer be it, “update or accept”, etc. I don’t really want her calling me every day asking if it’s okay to click “ok”. It just seems there are so many background programs running and it takes 7-8 minutes from start-up until it calms down enough to begin surfing/working efficiently. The system will go into “power saving mode” when using only the battery. This really appears to dull the already somewhat slow performance even more. Battery seems okay for a 2 cell battery but since she never takes it away from the house, plugged-in will be the normal operating mode. I read one post stating the CPU is only 2.70 w/o any boost. This may be the case when unplugged but if the task manager is correct, it apparently goes even beyond 3.60 GHz (see screenshot). The stranger thing is, why is the CPU maxing out in basically idle mode? The CPU is constantly working – must be all the background aps which are dragging out the performance. Three cores running pretty hard for some reason... oh well, good thing it's a Quad-core. Hopefully my mother will not have any issues once I hand it over. I give Windows 10 a generous (3), the hardware a (4) and the price a (5) bringing this to a 4 star review.

    rudimentary system

For the price there's a decently bright screen capable of 720p most the time refreshing isn't noticeable. The hinging won't accommodate 2 in 1. For the price there's a 2.0 speaker arrangement mounted toward the front lower edge of the base. Sound fidelity is better about 1m distant. For the price there's a large keyboard not backlighted. For the price there's a large AC power wall wart that can recharge internal batteries while in-use @ 2+ hour. The DC link cord is about 1.5m long. On batteries, the processor locked @ 100%, battery performance is about 3 hours. For the price there's a jack for head phone/microphone. This accommodates better audio pick-up the internal mic is a bit hollow sounding. Maybe I used "For the price" too much but this unit is 1/3 price of a gaming system. Rigid plastic is used through-out with a minimal of flex on either half. Be prepared with Microsoft knowledge when operating Windows 10 with Edge browser and Cortana voice assistant. Wi-Fi is multiple channel 802.11n works good. Bluetooth duplicated screen and sound to a Roku TV with video fidelity slightly lower. AMD A12 7th generation processor can be overwhelmed with high level activity. The hard drive is mechanical but fair to quieter while operating. The fan vent is on the bottom of lower half and varies speed with processor demands, restrict the grill on a lap and it will roar. With power set to complete shut-down, start-up is about 3 minutes.

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaPad 320-15 laptop. This is a standard laptop configuration, it is not a 2 in 1 device. The screen is anti-glare with a resolution of 1366 X 768 (HD) and a brightness level of 200 nits. This system has a battery life of up to 4 hours, depending on the work that the device is performing. To maximize battery life, try changing your power management setting to a more conservative one. You can do this in the control panel, in the power management category on your system. Select a more conservative power management setting to extend battery life. This system ships with 802.11AC WiFi connectivity, which is backward compatible to b/g/n. This system ships with the Quad-Core AMD A12-9720P processor, with 8GB of DDR4-1866MHz RAM. The processor has a base speed of 2.7GHz and a boost speed of up to 3.6GHz. lenovo

    Laptop able to play games

    |
    Posted .

I bought this from best buy when it was on sale for 300 dollars. It's a good option for people who can't afford a real gaming laptop who want to still play games. Be advised though it won't be at ultra settings at 4k resolution. I'm currently playing prey on low settings and have no problems. The only 2 things I don't like is the fan running and the touch pad. The fan runs whenever it wants for whatever reason. It doesn't seem to affect performance and it was only a 300 dollar laptop. Also I keep brushing the touchpad when I play games. My advice is reset windows 10 and get rid of the extra programs that are on the hard drive if you can't afford anything else. I put in a ssd and extra ram and it runs really well now

Good, cheap laptop. Has issues with the wife connection completely disappearing once every six months. I system restore and lose a day of use. Good thing I’m on the clock when it happens. I’m still a huge fan of physical disc drives. That’s what sold me on this.

After a year I have found that the Lenovo laptop has done a good job for my personal use. I am not a power user on this laptop so I don't use it for work, but mainly for surfing the internet, watching Youtube videos, and some basic MS Office spreadsheets, word, and powerpoint. Its ok performance wise, but probably could use some addl memory more than the 8 GB that I have. I have found over the past year that the battery life has continued to decrease whereas I was getting 2-3 hrs initially, I am only getting up to an hour now.

    Good Computer

    Posted .

Well to start off we purchased this computer for $349.00 on 3/10/18 brought it home setting up was a breeze and updates were fast put then the problems began ! Slow processor compared to my 10 year old HP i7 processor , th battery lasted maybe 50 minutes . Took it back on 3/12/18 cause the price was reduced to $319.00 and wanted a replacement for the same model . Also had $10 in point to put toward the computer so it brought it down to $309. Had the Geek squad put stuff from my wife s 8 year old desktop on it . Got it home and its a little better in speed . The battery last a hour and a half ! a little better but nothing to brag about.Finding my At&T router was a breeze along with my wireless printer.r Overall for the price we paid we cant complain about this computer considering it has a A12 AMD newest processor, 8 gigs of ram and 1T hardrive and more. Keeping our fingers cross. My only complaint is the battey on laptops today don't come off so you can just play in plugged in without it, and play while charging case they say it wont charge right if you do that !

Much too slow for the Specs

    |
    Posted .

Purchased this because it had solid reviews and was said to be able to handle some light gaming along with general productivity. Some reviews stated that the memory and CPU were always at 100% usage or close to it, and that the computer runs slow; This was true for me, as the computer seemed to always be very, very busy and running extremely slow even with basic web browsing and word processing. Computer literally locked up when I attempted to play a game on it. I would definitely pass on this one. Not sure if I got a dud, or if there is some excessive bloat ware on this model, but this was my first experience with a Lenovo and I do not intend to try the brand in the future based on this experience, unless the product has absolutely stellar reviews. In spite of the issues mentioned above, I did find the keyboard design to feel much more responsive and punchy that one's on previous laptops I've owned, and I generally liked the set-up/ placement of all ports and indicators. I'm giving this a two based on physical design, but considering the unfortunate issues with memory, processing, and overall operation of the unit. I would definitely NOT recommend this unit. I ended up returning this and purchasing a more expensive Dell (a lower-end gaming laptop that was on sale) to completely avoid the frustrating issues I had with this Lenovo. This laptop operates on Windows 10, so to be fair, that could also have been the source of some of these problems, as certain updates have impacted my Win10 PCs. in the past, but whatever the cause, this product did not work as expected.

You are correct, this is a fast system configuration. Be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programing errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. lenovo

I wanted a laptop for running AutoCad 2018 on. Any other applications are superlative since acad 2018 is a greedy ap 4sure. The product handles it. All other aps are not my concern but are nothing compared to stated ap. It's a little noisy ( cooling fan for cpu) which is to be expected.

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaPad 320-15 laptop. This is a high performance system with its AMD A12-9720P processor and 8GB of RAM. It will generate heat whenever it is turned on, even at idle, this is normal. The onboard fan will maintain the proper operating temperature for the device. You will hear the fan whenever it runs, this too is normal. lenovo

Great laptop, with a few caveats

    |
    Posted .

I'd say overall, this was a great purchase. For web browsing, e-mail, etc, it works great out of the box. I found it to be just a bit sluggish at points, but upgrading to a solid state hard drive (which is an absolute must) fixed almost all of that. The only real down side to this is the fan noise. When you first start using the computer, it's fine... but as it heats up, suddenly the turbines start spinning, and suddenly you have a jet engine in your lap. (perhaps a slight exaggeration, but it's super loud). As I said, despite this one flaw, I really like the laptop, I would purchase it again.

    Pretty Good Laptop

    Posted .

The Lenovo - 320-15ABR 15.6" Laptop - AMD A12-Series - 8GB Memory - AMD Radeon R7 - 1TB Hard Drive - Platinum Gray - is a pretty good computer. I use it for my home based businesses, and online classes and have downloaded some stuff to it. It has a 1TB harddrive but I still don't like downloading stuff to the computer because I don't want to slow it down. That's just me... I tend to keep it plugged in all the time because to me the battery tends to wear down on it quick, that is probably my biggest take away. but other than that I have really enjoyed this. Hope this helps.
