    Love My Laptop

Went to bestbuy to look at Laptops and left with this one when I seen it I had to have it. Works good to capture games with ElGato hd60, and edit with windows live movie. 500gb of hard drive is enough to do all the work I want. Comes with Windows 10 and works excellent oh did I also mention its a touch screen, you can flip the screen and have a Windows tablet in your hands.

    Great Bang For The Buck

I won't list any of the features because many reviewers have done it already. I purchased this laptop during the Best Buy deal of the day. You can't beat the price for what you get. It looks and feels like a laptop twice the price. So Lenovo did a good job here packing in a ton of features for a low out the door price. In the past many have accused Lenovo of bloatware and I can tell you it's not too bad and whatever you don't need you can uninstall. They even provided a users manual for both Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 in case you want to do some reading and familiarize yourself with the product. Some of the software bundled is actually useless while McAfee's AV is a 1 month trial. Performance wise, this thing flies with Windows 10 even with 80+ processes running in the background as you would expect with 8GB of Ram. The keyboard feels good as the keys have a nice springy feel to them and they are quiet while typing. The FHD screen looks good and the touchscreen is responsive. One thing to pass along. There have been many comments about WiFi dropping, or not coming back on after sleep mode or the laptop shutting down for no apparent reason. So i'll pass on the following tip because this is all software and device driver related: Go into device manager and look at each device and in the profile look for the "Power Management Tab" and UNCHECK any box that says this device can turn off the computer to save power. There were several and i'm happy to report that sleep mode works great, WiFi no longer drops and is running when I wake up the laptop and the laptop no longer shuts down on it's own.

    Good productivity laptop

    |

This laptop is not for the gamer. The i3 and on-board graphics just aren't enough to push. However, if you are looking for a good productive laptop, this fits the bill. For Word, Excel or any office related items, even with complicated computations in Excel, the computer works without a hitch. Fast starting (even without SSD), and fast loading of apps/programs makes this a pretty good desk-top addition, though maybe not as a total replacement. The loss of one star is due to the trackpad being the weak point of this laptop, as with most laptops. You wind up with phantom clicks, unresponsive taps, and just overall unacceptable performance. A good mouse will fix this, however one of the reasons for a laptop is the portability. Once you start having to add extras, you really lose much of that function. Graphics are good, though I really couldn't comment on them for use in photo editing, since that isn't my forte. Overall, fast, dependable, and if you can overcome the trackpad problems, you have a fairly decent machine at a good price.

    Best laptop for the price

Been looking at laptops for the past couple months waiting for a good one at a good price. This laptop has the best specs in this price range...5th gen i3 at 2.2 gigahertz, 1080p, touchscreen, wireless-ac, bluetooth, 4 cell battery and 8gb of ram. Only negatives would be its only an i3, I wouldve prefered an i5 or i7 but at least its a higher end i3 model, the keyboard feels a little cheap specially compared to the heavy duty aluminum case which does leave alot of finger prints, also would prefer a bigger keyboard. The touch screen is very responsive, i haven't had any issues. Also haven't had any noticeable issues with losing my wifi connection but went ahead and shut off the windows power saving control of the wifi in device manager, I also installed a 480gb ssd, which best buy had the sandisk ultra ll on sale for $133.99, now the laptop runs like a high end laptop, except for the geaphics of course, great picture and slightly better than average sound. Overall great laptop, not disappointed at all with my choice.

It is fast, boots up quick. First set up takes time but it runs great after the first boot up. I would recommend this machine to anyone for the price for sure. Even better when you catch it on deal of the day.

I tend to stay away from Lenovo because of the bloatware that's added by the manufacturer (surprise, no different this time), but i must say, after having briefly used this laptop and performing the initial setup, I was quite impressed with the features this laptop possesses. For starters, the tablet feature was pretty neat, with me especially liking how sturdy the computer was when folding backwards to go into tablet mode. The touchscreen was also a nice feature as well. Moreover, I found the laptop to be pretty fast, and powerful, no doubt the results from having the 5th generation of Intel's i3 Core processor, and the 8GB of RAM (over the usual 4GB of RAM most laptops with a tablet/touchscreen feature have at this price range) Overall, a well equipped computer for the everyday person.

    Best All Around Value!

To begin this review I want to state that ever laptop manufacturer rather HP, Dell, Toshiba, Lenovo, Asus, and even Apple will always have a few lemons and at times it can be frustrating when things do not work out. I have tried several laptops over the years tablets and they all have their pros and cons. Around the holiday season I decided to get a new laptop but I wanted a hybrid. So I decided to try the Surface 3 (Atom based CPU, 4 gig ram, 128 gig hardrive) and it was nice, premium, great build, solid battery life, great 1080p screen, ports, etc, and better than the Macbook. I do a lot of video editing, and between the the under powered processor, and smaller screen, it did not meet my needs. I paid around 640 for the Surface 3 with keyboard and overall it was a good experience. It just that it wasn't meant for heavy usage programs, and it stuttered at times editing 1080p video. I took the Surface 3 back and got a Dell Inspirion 15 5000 series with the newest Skylake core I5 6200U, 6 gig ram, 1 terabyte hardrive, touchscreen, and back lit keyboard. The Dell was made out of plastic, had an un-smooth feeling touchscreen, buggy and slow. I thought it be fast with the new Skylake I5 but my older HP core I3 5010U was much faster. Unfortunately when a new chipset comes out it takes a while to work out the bugs and their are currently issues with Skylake chips being worked out. The screen on the Dell was 768P and not that great as well. So I went back to Surface 3 because of the size and at least the screen was 1080p. Then I came swapped it out again because of the same reasons why I went to the Dell. The Lenovo is great! I read some comments below about the issues with the bubble on the screen, and wifi. Mine did the same thing but I allowed the laptop to install nearly 2 hours of updates and all of the issues were gone including touch screen, wifi, and the bubble on the screen issues were gone. You wont be able to find a 1080p screen, core I3, 8 gig ram, Back lit keyboard, 300 degree rotating screen, all Aluminum, touchsreen laptop anywhere for 399! Speakers sound very nice although a little more base would be nice. The battery life is a little above average at around 6 hours of light use, 4:30 moderate use, and 3:21 with heavy use. Keyboard and mouse pad are very solid. Touch screen is nice, smooth, and the screen has a nice smooth feel to it. So if you want a a low quality 760p screen, 4 gig ram, Celeron processor to save money and have less complaints go ahead. But I am having no issues with this laptop at all. Speed wise the 500 gig hardrive performs as fast as the EMC drive on the Atom Surface 3. EMC is technically faster than a spinning hard drive. The 8 gig of ram is great for multitasking and the core I3 5020U performs great. You wont be able to tell the difference between a core I3 or I5 in performance so don't let the Best Buy guys fool you. Stay away from Atoms, Celerons, or Pentiums if you can. Go Core I3 or Up...Shop around, and read reviews before you buy anything and above all remember you get the quality you pay for, and every laptop no matter the brand might have a lemon here and there....even Apple has some from time to time. This Laptop is the best deal on Bestbuy!!!

all around snappy pc for the price

If you are looking for a low budget pc that comes with a backlit keyboard than it won't get better than this for the price. I was looking for a new laptop that had two things lots of ram and a backlit keyboard, and it had to be under 400 dollars. I did lots of research and comparisons and luckily I found this awesome laptop at bestbuy just in time. It really outperforms all other laptops in the price range and good luck finding another one that has all of the features this has at this price range. Only downer is the smaller hard drive and no dvd drive but I did not need either of those things and 500gb for me is plenty for my needs. The 1080 screen is truly HD and you can really zoom around w lots of apps running at same time. The touch screen comes in handy when needed at times and the laptop feels well put together and not heavy at all, very slim and easy to carry around. If you want a brand new pc that comes with a backlit keyboard and is packed with all the featured that a 1000 plus laptop would carry for under 400 than this is the one..

    Excellent laptop for the money

Really solid laptop, the whole casing is aluminum and not cheap plastic so it's very durable. The thing I really like about this one is the bottom panel comes off and you have easy access to everything including hard drive, memory, wireless card, cmos battery and others, very easy to upgrade stuff. I through a solid state drive in it right off the bat and it starts up in around 10 seconds, I can't go without a solid state anymore. Backlit keyboard is really nice, can't go without that anymore. Can't beat the price, it's a really solid laptop for the price. Has a touchscreen, it folds into stand mode which would be nice for like watching movies, videos, or playing games. Has no DVD drive but you can get a cheap usb dvd drive for like $20. Full HD screen which really surprised me at this price. Only thing that bugs me because i'm an IT guy is lack of indicators, no hard drive light, no light letting you know it's fully charged, only lights up when it's on and when it's plugged in, not very intuitive there, but that's nitpicking. Runs extremely cool thanks to the 5th generation Intel processor, as well as me switching out for a solid state. Average battery life for me is between 4-5 hours depending on the load. Touchpad is okay, functional, but it's one solid button instead of having separate buttons for the left and right clicking. Another thing that amazes me at this price point is the fact that it has dual band AC wireless in it. Speakers get very loud and are better than others that I've seen. Overall really great laptop for the price, $449 still a good deal, if you can get it on sale for less than it's a steal.

Overall I am very satisfied with this product. Despite all the negative reviews, I bought it to replace my old laptop that drove me nuts with noise and heat coming from the vent. This one is what I need – cool and quiet. The performance is good – I don’t feel any difference compared to my old laptop with an i5 CPU. I like its full HD IPS screen – it’s very sharp and bright; it also provides more workspace, although it requires a shorter distance to the eyes than a regular 1366x768. It’s touch-screen enabled, but this feature is rarely used. It has some software and hardware issues, but they can be addressed. First of all, the HDD can and must be replaced with an SSD to fully enjoy the potential of this (and any) laptop. Its keyboard is not good for serious work – too soft; this results in many typing errors. The arrow keys blend with the rest of the keys – you can’t locate them by touch and every time need to look at the keyboard to find them (all Lenovo keyboards I’ve seen are like this), so I’m replacing it with an external keyboard – a really nice setup when the laptop is used in the stand mode. The Lenovo settings software is glitchy – it stopped working properly at some point (there are many negative feedbacks on that), but I’ve been able to make it work through changing background app settings. The wifi issues can also be addressed by turning off the power saving for the wifi adapter. Anyway, for the price (less than $400), it’s a unique combination of specs that deserves the top rating even with the described issues.

I am using this laptop to run a lighting show in a restaurant. The touchscreen was a requirement for fast changes between scenes. There is a slight delay from the touchscreen, but only noticeable when compared against the speed of a keyboard or mouse. The physical layout of the laptop is pleasant in appearance, and decently functional. My left hand would occasionally rub on the mouse trackpad, but would not interrupt any typing actions. The trackpad is a solid piece, and mouse button 1 and 2 bend somewhat awkwardly and click in a different manor than engineered. This was the only flaw I have seen with the design of the whole laptop.

Better than I expected, Wifi might be fixable

    Posted .

When I bought this, there were no reviews available, and I bought it sight unseen. Taking it out of the box, I was very impressed with the quality of the product. Yes, it's heavy, but it uses mostly metal for the shell. The screen is significantly better than I expected too. The display is great, with above average resolution and good viewing angles and color range. The other specs are good, from CPU to RAM and the like. Battery life is also very good for the price, perhaps 5-6 hours to a charge. The keyboard and trackpad could be a little better, but really, I felt I came away with a big bargain (got it for $349). As for users having the WiFi cut out, this appears to be a problem many Windows 10 users have. I went into device manager and pulled up the settings for the wireless adapter, and then disabled the setting that allows Windows to turn off the device to save power. After that, our wifi problems were gone. Maybe MS will fix this in their eternally updating Windows 10 strategy. This is a great machine, and I hope it lasts for the long haul.

Great features, quality lacking a bit

    Posted .

The features on this laptop are really fantastic. As everyone mentioned, the screen is amazing. It's fast and quiet.I won't go into the pros much because it looks like others reviewers already listed them all here. I want to mention a few negatives about it though. First, I had to return it for an exchange the day after purchase. It seems the display backlight died, so you couldn't see anything on it (you could barely make out the outlines of stuff if you tilted the screen a certain way.) The exchange process at BestBuy was great, I just gave them the old one, picked up the new one, they gave me a new receipt, and the whole thing took only like 5 or 10 min. I've had the second one for a day now, so another thing I've noticed that both, the first one I had and this one, is (I think this happens after sleep) the wifi dies after you first use it for anything (like going to a site.) It comes back after about 30 seconds to a minute, and then it seems to work fine the rest of the time until you put it to sleep and later wake it again. I'll have to do more testing on this, but this seems to be a consistent pattern for now. Maybe the drivers need to be updated. And thirdly, while the sound is fine, it's nothing to write home about. It's loud enough when the room isn't noisy, and it doesn't sound bad or anything. And really, the sound on most laptops isn't that great. So hopefully the screen doesn't die again and the wifi issues are resolved. Other than that I'm very happy with this laptop.

Negative: I have been an HP purchaser for many years so this shift to Lenovo is taking some adjusting. The laptop is heavy, even without a DVD/CD player. The touch pad is off center to the left because of the numbers pad to the right, so I have to off-center the computer on my lap and even at that am skimming it with my left palm and keep using the right click by accident. Battery is nothing like they state, I am getting 3 hours. Positive: Love the dual action of being able to fold it and have the keyboard create the backstand, very stable in a number of positions. Great screen, touch element perfect for my use playing simple games, word processing, photos, movie streaming, and email. Would recommend in this lower price range for people who don't need lighting speed.

I have to admit, i've had better laptops. However, for the price i paid i can't really spend too much time complaining ($225 open-box), The touch-screen is glitchy. I have to completely restart the laptop at least once a day to reset everything. The touchpad isn't as sensitive, and responsive as previous ones i've had. It can be an issue when playing games, or navigating websites. Most of my issues with this unit involved my adapting to Windows 10, which isn't Lenovo's problem. A huge plus is that i used the laptop outside for over six hours, today. Screen on 100% brightness, while browsing online, and listening to music via Windows Media Player. And i still had 13% remaining when i headed indoors. Not too shabby.

I did my research. I usually purchase the least expensive and best for my buck but this time I decided to not let price be the issue. Okay, I did cap it at 500. I found this for right around $450. My checkoff list was: I have to be able to have many windows open at the same time No lagging Intel Windows 10 Bluetooth Touch screen Tada! I got it! I have had no issues whatsoever with this laptop. What's great is that you can use it as a tablet(ish). It folds back and you can just swipe and use the onscreen keyboard. I personally don't do any of that. FYI: It does not come with a CD drive which I thought was going to be an issue since I wanted to put windows that I already owned on it. Fortunately you can do everything online no so was able to download it. --- Also, The clarify on the screen is GREAT. I almost got an HP which is what I went to the store to purchase, but once you see the two side by side, you'll end up getting this one. --- GREAT thing about buying at Best Buy, The item was not in stock when I went in so they had to order it and I could pick it up at the store about 5 days later. When I got there, the new ad was out and my item was $50 less. Soooo, they adjusted the price and I got it for the lesser price. I really am happy with my 2-in-1.

I love the aluminum case, better than my sons plastic case on his laptop. I like the computer, but not fond of the super glossy screen. I wish there were more than just one usb 3.0,but you can just get hub.It is a finger print magnet, the brightness is not a problem for me,almost half way on the brightness. If you get this laptop,do yourself a favor and get a solid state drive. It never gets hot, have it on my lap for hours.

Bought this for one of my boys. He had never had a brand new computer before. Only other peoples' hand-me-downs. After having purchased a Lenovo Yoga 900 for myself earlier, I knew this would be a good choice for him. I love having the choice to use it as touch screen or as a regular laptop. And I'll never buy a computer without a backlit keyboard again. This computer has one, which he was really jazzed to have.
