Don't Buy Refurbished

Ordered this computer for our daughter and it arrived about a week before she returned to college. It died on the second day of classes. The Geek Squad charged us $130 to do a complete system restore. It died again the same day she picked it up from Geek Squad. They finally admitted that the computer was bad and exchanged it for a new one, but we had to pay the difference between the price of refurbished computer and one new in box. That was OK, but I thought we should have been refunded the $130 for a repair that didn't work.

This is a great laptop for school. It's not heavy so it's easy to transport from home to school. Easy to use. You can not two finger scroll and I have had the computer stop and shut down its self and say driver power state failure.

Worked perfectly for 2 months and then suddenly crashed. I lost all my data. It is now with Lenovo repair agent and I was told the broken component is out of stock. They wouldn't exchange because it is more than a month since purchase. Mind you though, I purchased the geek certified refurbished one so maybe that's why....

This refurbished laptop fulfilled my expectatives.
The touch screen is bright and responsive,
The processor speed is good too, so you can work with Office files at the same time.
Additionally Lenovo brings apps for the webcam and the touch screen.

REFURBISHED BUT JUST LIKE NEW

I normally don't right reviews but just to help someone that is looking for a LENOVO product I will help give you the breakdown. Everyone does refurbished Apple, Sony, Bose and it makes things much cheaper. Refurbished is all dependent on what was wrong with the machine. I am giving the machine a 4 and the Best Buy packaging a 2. The machine itself would have received a 5 if I did not have to call Lenovo everytime to get everything to work correctly. I love the veriface which detects your face to log in and the motion control is now working well. A lot of things that people don't know, is to call the manufacturer not Best Buy for product support. The resolution is wonderful. This is a keeper. I took back 2 before this one. I would definitely recommend this product to a friend. For people that are new to Windows 8.1 give it a chance once you get the hang of it you will love your machine. I first had a Microsoft Surface Pro and felt the same when I first started using it. That was also a good machine but the product support sucks. I am happy with my purchase so far but it has not been that long but as I said when you want product support call Lenovo not Geek Squad

"Supposedly Certified"

So this unit was probably a return, and supposedly, Best Buy's highly trained "Geek Squad" fully inspected and certified it. Well the unit I received came in a fast-pack white reusable shipping box, included just the bare laptop (no sleeve) and power supply. No other paperwork or documentation. And the flaws that "snuck past" the Geek squad: A) screen brightness can not be controlled and B) TOUCHSCREEN DOES NOT WORK - AT ALL. I can see how that would be hard to miss under a full inspection.
Updated all drivers in hopes it was something simple.... but no luck. Guess it's back to the returns counter.....hopefully the next unit is better than this one. If I can find a working unit, this is a pretty good price.... an M.2 SSD can be added as a future upgrade.

Geek Squad Fail

Bought this for my wife a a certified refurb by geek squad. Arrived in the mail. Mechanically the computer works fine and we are happy with it. However the "certified" computer was sent to us with an aggressive virus. Videos pop up out of no where, pop ups etc. There is no way they re-installed windows or looked for any malware while "re-furbishing". Very disappointed. The free scans an software i've used have not removed either. Hopefully they make this right when we bring into the store today.
