Loses wi-fi signal. Loses HDMI signal. Gets frozen. Oh, this is my 35th year in information technology. I returned it after weeks and weeks of fighting with Lenovo.

Does what it is supposed to. Fast boot up. Decent speed considering what it is. Use for streaming and browsing.
Things to know or wish were different...
1. Have to hold power button for a couple sec to boot.
2. Wish USB cord was longer.
3. Wish had 64bit windows and or 4gb ram.
Personally think this thing is awesome for what it is designed to do. Way more than any smart TV.

This item came with the following:
Computer Stick
Wall-wart p/s with micro-USB cable
Short HDMI M-F extension cable
Small sticky-tape mounting bracket
The computer stick came with 2GB RAM, 32GB storage, an HDMI output port, USB output port, and micro-SD slot, as well as a power button and power light. The operating system is Windows 10, and it had just under 19 GB of unused disk space.
I was able to install Ubuntu Linux on the computer using the instructions that can be found on the web for installing Ubuntu on the Asus X205TA laptop, which uses the same processor. Other than sound and the built-in wifi/bluetooth it seemed to work fine with just brief testing under Ubuntu Linux. The absence of a sound driver was critical for me, and so I removed the Linux and reverted back to using Windows10.

Great PC for your Multimedia Room

I love the little Windows PC. Replacing an aged and obsolete NeoTV Android OS box. Best PC yet for my entertainment / movie room. The only thing I had to buy. I see a lot of reviews saying buy a USB hub. If you’re connecting to a TV? The best keyboard and the one working for me. The Logitech K400 $25.99 at Bestbuy this week small lap keyboard with touch pad. I plugged the USB dongle in to the Lenovo IdeaCenter. Connected the IdeaCenter to a free HDMI port on my Yamaha receiver, gave it power, and pressed the power button.
Up and running in minutes but took hours to run updates to the latest Windows 10 home. Great PC quick browsing once you download anything other than MS Edge. Single app PC don’t attempt to multitask! Doesn’t have great Video Performance, RAM or CPU power for local apps. Don’t attempt to sync your cloud data, doesn’t have the local storage either. SMALL AND FUNCTIONAL! Will work great this fall for streaming local HS Football games on the big screen.

This handy window 10 desktop stick also known as Lenovo IdeaStick, was so handy and easy to install. I hooked it up with a LED 720 TV and it worked really well with Firefox and MS words program from my school. There was a small fan built inside this little device when it was overheat which would turned on the fan. My hint: Don't forget to turn off both your TV and the IdeaStick at the same time so that it will last much longer than the warranty.

Great for light weight HTPC

I think this is an excellent product for the minimum amount of hardware built in. I purchased 2 of these, both of which are used for HTPC on 2 different TVs.
- Audio / Video - On both units, I run Kodi media software, streaming content from both the internet and a NAS. The Intel HD graphics do very well in full 1080p. I have yet to try playing 4k but I wouldn't think it would struggle with this. I use a program called Sound Wire to broadcast the audio from one of these sticks located in our bedroom so that my WiFi an I could tune in using the app on our phone. and listen without the TV volume being up. This initially had some kinks to it.. the audio would get a little choppy but you can fine-tune / optimize the stick if your careful and it will run Sound Wire in conjunction with Kodi.
- WiFi - I have a unit that sits within close proximity from the router and does jut fine with the built in adapter. My second stick is in a bedroom across our 1300ft2 house with a signal that is a bit weaker. These units use the same radio for both WiFi an Bluetooth but Bluetooth can be disabled to mitigate this. These do not use the full 5GHz AC band out of the box but for the stick across the house, I purchased a USB WiFi adapter that goes full 5GHz and this made a big difference in signal strength at longer distances. Btw, you'll want to grab a USB hub (with its own power supply) if you plan on using more than one USB peripheral i.e. Mouse/ Keyboard.
- Performance - Not that this would be necessary in most practical use cases but I played around with the virtual memory function in Windows to see if I could add on another 2GB to the 2GB built it. Well, I was a little disappointed to find that the processor will only support up to 2GB.
- Conclusion - Based on my usage / observations, this is not a super duper power house but when you run it on light weight settings for basic usage its great.

This tiny computer is pretty cool! It provides all the functions of a basic pc. Worked great for streaming videos and word processing. Not a lot of onboard memory but is expandable. Don't expect it to handle too many open programs at once or handle any kind of video game which has good graphics. Spend the extra 60 bucks on a Bluetooth keyboard mouse combo. It only had one usb and if you use it on the dongle for your keyboard you will have to resort to playing games with a micro sd card to transfer files.

Couldn't get into windows

I can not give a true review of this device since I could not get into windows but here is my experience with this device.
Stick#1 - Plugged in, pushed power button and light kept going off almost immediately. After about 4-5 tries it finally started to boot but would only show the Lenovo logo and the windows spinning string of balls. After about 2-3 times of this I got an error saying windows failed to boot and there appeared to be a problem. I reset the computer to factory. I was finally able to complete set-up but when I got into windows the stick would immediately shut down. I tried to restore again but the same thing.
I was in contact with the GM for my closest Best Buy who didn't have the product but he offered to have it sent over or to pick it up so I could come in and do an exchange and not have to drive to the further store.
Stick#2 - Booted right up and went into set-up. Got into windows and shut down just like Stick#1. I restarted the computer and it told me there was and error. I reset windows again went through set-up and it died right after windows.
I find it hard to have 2 sticks do the same thing to me, but this is exactly what happened. Personally I CANNOT recommend this product to anyone, just off the basis of not even being able to get into windows. Entirely possible this is good for those who can get it working., but I spend 3+hours with each stick with no luck.

I bought this thing last night with a little bit of skepticism.... I was worried that the lack of internal components would cause it to be a piece of junk with a $100 price tag. Thankfully, I was wrong - this little device is fantastic for what we needed it to do.... I have it hooked up in my living room and can turn my big-screen into a computer unto itself. We streamed Netflix and YouTube videos without any issues, surfed the web, checked email, and wrote a test email and it was just as good as my extremely powerful desktop for these things.
I highly recommend this product for casual use. It's not intended for heavy spreadsheeting or a lot of multi-tasking.

Plug this in to your TV HDMI and boom turn that box into a Home Theatre PC. Don't bother having wireless keyboard or mouse, just use your smartphone as the controller with Intel Remote Keyboard app. Have plenty of fun!

Practically DOA

I opted for the "open box" variety, it was about a 12% savings. However, when it came, I was woefully disappointed:
1) The wi-fi would absolutely not work whatsoever. I had it within a few feet of my router. It kept timing out, dropping out, losing the connection, then pretending like there wasn't a wireless radio in there at all.
2) The sound wouldn't work at all. It just showed an "X" next to the speaker. I would click it, it would "troubleshoot" and tell me to restart. It kept doing this, it never worked.
3) I inserted a known good MicroSD card and it didn't do anything. It didn't even recognize that a card was there.
I am guessing I got a serious lemon and it will be going back tonight. Unfortunately I'm going to have to pay full price, but I'll give a new one another chance. But so far, this is looking like a complete flop with horrible build quality. Completely useless as is.

I bought this to have a simple PC for email, web, and editing documents. For $99, it does a fantastic job. Sure, some installs and other compute intensive processes will be slowed down, but for most interactions, it's not an issue at all. I'm willing to sacrifice a few microseconds here and there for the bargain.

Windows 10 _OS, plugged it in ran through the quick setup, updated it self, and was surfing the web , & playing games , pretty quick, surprising how robust and stable it runs, , the display resolution to TV formating needed to be tweaked to my preference, and the power button is in a really awkward position ,under the micro USB connector and involved to get to to turn on and off, and not been able to make the Bluetooth work right with android, ,even after pairing and connecting, but that seems to be a Windows echo system thing. All in all great tool for the money.

Slow Wi-Fi
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
PC is capable of playing video at 1080P without problems, but WiFi speed is good only for slow web browsing. WiFi speed was at 1.2Mbps at best and that's no good for streaming.Good for reading news or checking weather but NOT for streaming, if you use a Bluetooth device like a mice or keyboard the WiFi slows even more.
I tried a USB WifFi and the connection was slow as well, used a USB to Ethernet adapter and streaming played well, no idea why the USB WIFi was as bad as the built in device, my Fire tv stick uses the same WiFi router and plays 1080P no problem and without buffering.
Returning this bad boy to the store and going to try a different unit.

I didn't expect much and was presently surprised, it handles basic web surfing and video playback without issue. It has pretty decent speed when navigating windows. Will it replace a $500 desktop? No, but if you just need basic web browsing, play a media stream, or a remote desktop client it fits the bill nicely.
