Terrific Laptop

Keyboard can be backlit when needed. This Lenovo worth every cent. Previously had ASUS, Sony and a much older Lenovo and this model with AMD instead of Intel beats the others hands down.

I had to order a help book. My biggest disappointment is the fact that there are no word programs comparable to Microsoft Word 2007, the program I did use. Microsoft offers advanced programs such as Word, Excel, power point for over $100. Why do I have to pay so much more after paying $599 + for the computer? I had a very difficult time signing up for a Microsoft account because it did not want me using firefox for my browser. Its not easy using this computer. It was recommended by a friend that had one who works with computers.

Posted .We are sorry to hear that you are having issues using your new Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15 Laptop, model number 81YQ0008US. There is a 30-day trial of Microsoft Office 365 included as part of the Windows 10 operating system. In order to keep the program active after the trial period, you will need to purchase a product key. You will not need to download any additional software. Microsoft doesn't recommend Office 2007 because they no longer support it (support ended October 10, 2017). There are no more bug fixes or crucially security fixes for Office 2007. The AMD Ryzen processor is elite as-is, but for my excel workbooks and online researching, it's a significant upgrade from the i3 and i5 processors. The screen brightness & contrast needed to be manually adjusted, but the Full HD res and wide-screen view allows me to see so much more than a standard money-saver laptop. Im 100% satisfied with this laptop and Absolutely recommend it to others looking for computers in this price range!

Double Quotes key and number 7 not working.

However, the double quotes key and the number 7 seem to not work, its not all the time but it usually take about 8-10 presses on each key to get it working normally each time. I checked the keys for physical problems like breaks nothing is wrong. The current solution online seems to be switching the keyboard to English, this does not work. Lenovo please make a update of some type of patch if it is a software problem. The laptop has never been dropped or anything of that nature.

As you point out, this issue may be due to the keyboard configuration settings you are using. See if this video shows a solution that will work for you: https://www.instructables.com/How-to-Fix-Double-Press-Apostrophe-and-Quotes-in-W/. If this does not fix your problem, now check to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10 on the computer. Then update all BIOS files and drivers to this latest version of Windows 10. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software available on this computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. If the issue still continues after these updates, we recommend you call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686 for additional help.

Posted .The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15 Laptop model number 81YQ0008US ships with both audio as well as on screen step by step instructions for the initial setup and activation of Windows 10. To learn your way around Windows 10 further, you may want to try YouTube.com (just type that address in your browser address window). There are hundreds for free instructional videos there about Windows 10. Just type Windows 10 Introduction in to the YouTube search window. You can watch free videos there that will show you the basics all the way up to tips and tricks videos and they're all free.

No Backlit keyboard!

I was really excited to get a laptop with a backlit keyboard for the first time and now I'm disappointed. If having this feature is important to you, stay away from this model!
