    Fantastic Computer

    Posted .

I was expecting this computer to be extremely slow because of its small size, thinness, and touch screen, but then again I didn't need it for much except the standard report-writing and internet browsing. However, I have been completely blown away because of its speed and reliability in high graphic games such as League of Legends and COD. Not only that, but it lets me quickly browse any internet site that I choose without issues. Plus, the touch screen adds a great benefit because I can use it to easily write equations in my Calculus class, and the graphics allow me to clearly read my notes that I take in school. There have been rare occasions where the laptop lags, but I give it leeway because of its size. Furthermore, I wish this had more USB ports because I use this laptop for school, and I often have to transfer data from several USB's, and I like to use a wireless mouse at the same time. However from an overall perspective, this is an incredibly amazing product and I receive compliments on its appearance and functionality on a daily! I am extremely happy with this product.

    Perfect laptop, IBM product

I work for Toyota as an Automotive Technician. I purchased this laptop to use it on cars to diagnose problems such as check engine light. Very lightweight, durable, fast and support many programs. The foldable feature helps save space in crammed areas and obviously the touchscreen is a lot faster than using the mouse pad. Start up is quick, no noisy fan, no annoying hard drive making noise, speakers are fair. If you have a smart TV, you can connect it wirelessly or via HDMI cable (sold separately). If you have a soundbar for the TV, you can connect it either through aux cable or Bluetooth. With Dolby Digital, movies sound crisp. I highly recommend this laptop to anyone. Whether it's for personal use or professional use, this product is ideal for you. Lenovo is an IBM product so don't be discourage thinking it's a cheap, unknown product.

I recently bought this laptop and have been very pleased with it. My last laptop was large and heavy, so I was looking for something small and light. I chose this one ultimately because of the i5 processor; it was the fastest of the smaller laptops they had at the store. It's running Windows 10, which I like so far. I was impressed by the edgeless touchscreen display, and my favorite part is that it can be flipped around into a tablet. I enjoy using tablet mode because the 11.6in screen makes for a huge tablet! The only downside I've noticed is that the surface gets scratched/scuffed easily. Overall, I'm happy with it.

Perfect little portable laptop. The i5 processor and 8GB RAM makes this little bugger a fast acting laptop. The SSD is so quiet and fast start-up. Great offer for the price! A lot of complaints about the right shift key location, but I am left handed so I have no complaints on that one. ;-) The 2 in 1 and 360° flip and fold is an awesome feature too. The only thing I would change is i would have added at least 1 more USB port. Hubs are always an option though. Very happy with the Lenovo - Yoga 710 2-in-1 11.6" Touch-Screen Laptop!

I purchased this laptop for my daughter's first year of college. She wasn't too sure about it at first, mainly because of the size, but she loves it! She loves the fact that it can be used as tablet. I want one for myself! Was gonna purchase a Dell laptop but it ended up not working. Thank God I purchased the Geek Squad insurance. I was able to return it and was sold on buying this awesome Lenovo laptop!!!

I love my Lenovo Yoga 710 2 - in - 1. It is my favorite. If it ever breaks, I will purchase another one like it but an upgrade version. It is not bulky and easy to carry. I'm a small person so that helps a lot. I haven't had any technical issues with it since I bought it. It is a great laptop for online school and has enough storage for all my documents. I highly recommend it.

    Sound Issues

    Posted .

Just bought this laptop and right off the bat there was an "x" next to the sound icon. I search for the correct driver and found it on the Lenovo site, Its the Realtek one. There is sound now. But the sound that comes out is horrible, my old iphone 4 sounds better than this. When I open Chrome and go to Youtube there is a 4 second delay when a video starts, and here is the best part, when I press the volume + button, the sound actually goes down significantly instead of going higher/louder. You cannot do anything about the sound unless you close the browser and re-open it. I also open Youtube on the Edge browser and it does not glitch, but at the same 50% volume level, it sounds louder on Chrome than on Edge. To add the cherry on top, in Chrome the whole web page will glitch, jumping up and down and if you move the cursor around the volume button it also glitches. I exchange the laptop and I still have the same issue? I don't know what to do, should I just return it and get my money back?

We recommend you try getting the sound set to your preference before you install Chrome Browser. See if the sound settings continue to work when you use the Edge browser. Then install Chrome see if the sound remains the same. If it doesn't, there is some compatibility issue with Chrome and Windows 10. To do this reinstall, you may want to restore to factory default settings. This system is equipped with OneKey Recovery System. There is a very small pin hole on the right side of the device, right near the power button on the device. You will need a pin to push this reset button. Plug the device in. Let the battery charge for about 15 minutes. Push the reset button. The system should boot to a choice screen where you can choose "Restore To Factory Default". Select this. It will delete everything from the hard drive except the original factory install of the operating system. You will need to reinstall all programs and files after the reset. If you don't have copies of the files, try to make one before you restore by selecting "Boot to desktop" and trying to back up your files. lenovo

    Great portability and balanced power

    Posted .

OK straightforward three things, Portability, MS Office, Asphalt 8 airborne and Webroot Antivirus all running smooth!, this 2 in1 has a SSD which will help the yoga to perform way better than expected, now take in consideration that this 2 in 1 laptop is not design to perform for heavy duty applications, neither run heavy graphics!, this laptop is ideal for an everyday regular friendly non-demanding performance use!, as well as an office environment, ideal for students, not ideal for 3d graphics design, is ideal for family apps like Hulu, Netflix, YouTube, etc. My final advise is, if you are looking for a portable MS Office capable gear and casual Internet surfing, this is your choice no doubt, but if you are planning to install steam, mine craft, skyrim, etc, look somewhere else.

Works great if you know how to fix a major issue

    |

    Posted .

This is actually a surprisingly capable and thin laptop. However, a poorly written preloaded software provided by Lenovo can cause high CPU usage, short battery life, and poor performance, especially with multiple users logged in. I would recommend this product if and only if you know how to fix the issue with the preloaded software (see below). Pros: -Has 1 (and only 1) USB 3.0 port despite its thinness -Wireless AC support -Under 2.5 lbs, it's weightless when traveling - this convertible actually works as a tablet because it's so light -1080p screen -SSD -Fanless Cons: -Silly placement of the right Shift key - get used to hitting the up arrow if you are a touch typist -Power brick takes up valuable vertical outlet real estate - troublesome if you're using a standard power strip -Turned itself on a few times during sleep while in my backpack, got pretty warm - my workaround? Use hibernate instead -Screen carries a yellow tint - perform color-sensitive work elsewhere -Auto brightness is not calibrated correctly - the screen is too dim at all times. Luckily this can be disabled in settings. -Occasional thermal throttling - it's a tradeoff for fanless but I'm fine with it Potential Dealbreaker: -A preloaded software called "Yoga Mode Control" pegs at least one core at 100%. The culprit is ymc.exe, under rundll32.exe. This leads to abysmal performance and unacceptable temperatures. The situation is further exacerbated if multiple users are logged in - additional users peg additional CPUs. ***Solution*** -Stop the Yoga Mode Control service in task manager and disable in the Services management console, and confirm the removal from startup using msconfig.

    Lovely Little Powerhouse

About a month ago, I got the itch to purchase a small, lightweight laptop for taking my work on the go. I already had a 15-inch computer, but protested that it was way to heavy to be lugging around on the fly. I went to Best Buy and picked up every computer in the store and at first, settled on a Chromebook. I thought, I'm only using Google Docs and the internet on this anyways, so why not? I took home the Chromebook and was so underwhelmed, I returned it within a few days of hemming and hawing. I wanted to love this little laptop that I was planning to buy, and the Chromebook was just not doing the trick. So, again I went back and picked up every computer until I grabbed this one. My first thought was, "Ooo this is pretty light, I almost threw it over my shoulder." Then I saw it was touchscreen. Then I saw it had an i5 processor and a solid state hard drive that had plenty of space. Then I saw it was Lenovo and initially, I cringed. My work computer is a Lenovo and I hate it, but I was told that all the work programs would undoubtedly make the computer run slow. And it was just so light and the price was right, so I took the plunge. After a month, I still am in love with this mini powerhouse and couldn't recommend it enough for the worker/writer on the go.

This Lenovo Yoga 710 2-in-1 11.6-Inch Touchscreen Laptop is an excellent mobile computer, which features an elegant silver design, thin and light aluminum unibody construction, and a bright, crisp, and vibrant 1920x1080p Full-HD IPS display. As is the case with all Lenovo computers, its keyboard and trackpad are superb, and they provide a smooth typing experience, as well as fast and fluid scrolling and Internet navigation. It is equipped with a generous 8GB of system memory, along with a 128GB solid state drive. This Lenovo Yoga 710 2-in-1 11.6-Inch Touchscreen Laptop is powered by the Intel 1.2GHz Core i5-7Y54 processor, with Turbo Boost up to 3.2GHz, with an impressive Octane benchmark score of 20,000, and with the Intel HD Graphics 615 chipset. This seventh-generation Intel Kaby Lake Core i5-7Y54 processor is an ultra-low-voltage mobile processor, featuring superb energy efficiency, low power consumption, long battery life and run time, low heat generation, and the capability for a fanless and silent system. This Intel Core i5-7Y54 processor is decidedly powerful, delivering almost instantaneous rendering of webpages, fast and fluid scrolling and Internet navigation, and the capability of maintaining smooth performance during periods of rigorous multitasking, with multiple open tabs. In addition to being very powerful and capable, this Lenovo Yoga 710/11 model is extremely versatile, because of its 360-degree hinge, which facilitates multi-mode functionality, consisting of standard laptop mode, stand mode, tent mode, and tablet mode. It would be the ideal mobile computer for anyone who regularly commutes or travels, and it would also be very useful for students, because of its smooth portability, and its multi-mode functionality. In conclusion, this outstanding Lenovo Yoga 710 2-in-1 11.6-Inch Touchscreen Laptop is an exceedingly thin, light, sleek, powerful, capable, and versatile mobile computer, and I enthusiastically give it a five-star rating, along with my highest recommendation.

    Pretty Decent laptop

    Posted .

I purchased this laptop originally for schoolwork and basic stuff like browsing and streaming. It's not a heavy based system, so don't expect your higher end programs like photoshop to run as smoothly if you're in it for art stuff, editing or even gaming. This laptop did run quite smoothly otherwise. My basic schoolwork got done as intended. One problem to note is that this does not have an internal fan due to it having a built in SSD and lower powered processor. This laptop runs a Intel Dual core i5 processor (not the best) ..so this won't be doing any casual or even any hardcore gaming. Due to it not having an Internal cooling unit (fan) and running dual core processor, it will heat up considerably bad in my case. Otherwise if it's used for more simple stuff you shouldn't run into any problems. unfortunately, for me I needed some video and photo editing work and this was not powerful enough to keep up with the programs I use. plus I may have gotten a defective unit that wore within the 2 months I've had it as for some strange reason my unit seem to excessively overheat at an alarming rate just doing basic things like watching a movie or sometimes even browsing. Hopefully my warranty would allow me to exchange it for a more powerful machine capable for my specific needs. Don't let that turn you away as manufacturer defects do happen at times. A few upsides to note about this laptop. One, is the screen. It looks very nice and has a very good IPS display at 1920x1080 (Personally, I don't really use the touchscreen though it's nice to have anyway and the brightness could be just a tad bit brighter since I like using full brightness). Second, is the speakers. They are decently loud enough (they're located at the bottom of the system) and aren't really that bad as it runs a Dolby digital sound system with good Highs, mids and lows. Perfect enough for your media use. And last, is the battery. The battery is not bad, as it runs me about 5 hours on energy saving and balanced settings ..A little less when watching videos, plus it charges fairly fast. I Would let it get to about 10% at times and then charge it, i'd come back withing two hours sometimes finding it fully charged at 100%.

Is a decent laptop, but omg that shift key. I read some reviews and the only thing I found negative was the shift key. I didn't think it was a big deal and decided to get it anyways. Oh boy was I wrong!!! Everything was fine for the first week, casual use reading school books online, then I had to write a paper. Nope, returned the next day. If you do any sort of writing on your laptop, I'd suggest something different. Otherwise was a decent laptop, underestimated though how small the screen would be. I don't think I can buy under a 13" now.

Discontinued Lenovo Yoga 710 (10") still rocks

This is one of those little 2in1 yogas with the tablet size screen and built in keyboard that does not de-attach but it doesn't matter because when you flip it around, the keys face out, but recede and turn off, so you sort of have a tablet. What is really nice is the i5 + 8GB with windows for excel. i'm not doing a lot of calculations, but I do have to edit spreadsheets created elsewhere, so this works well. My wife likes to do powerpoint and word so all this msft office stuff is a snap on windows 10 even with a small screen. She's mostly on the couch. surfing etc. Internal memory is 128 GB so we have a 200 GB usb flash drive plugged into the one usb slot and if we need more connectivity, we use a small hub instead. You can buy 128 GB flash for $40, so having a few is perhaps a pain for some, but it works for us.We also have a bluetooth mouse that really helps. So it's $500 with a year protection vs. a surface or something in between for 2x more This fits in my wife's purse. One final dealbreaker for some, the right shift is too small and too far over. Next to it is a page up. so when you hit shift you mostly hit page up. Oh well. We're adjusting, others may not want to. MicroHDMI out is unusual, but we don't really need it anyway. Battery life is OK, but it charges up fast. You can put in sleep mode and it'll fire up immediately where you left off and reboot is great with SSD.

Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed.

I used this for my masters where I did a lot of design and coding work. It was really fast and powerful. Never had an issue with lag. Battery life is amazing if you set it to the lowest. It’ll last like 10 hours, so I almost never had to carry around my charger at school. I still use it for traveling when I need to work remotely because it’s so small and light. The touchscreen is very nice because you can use it as a tablet too. It’s not like the iPad Pro where you would want to hand write though. I bought a pen but it was very difficult to write clearly on OneNote. One star deduction just for Lenovo’s keyboard layout that is a common issue. I think they changed it in newer models but it was a struggle. You get used to it, but it took a while and a lot of frustrations.

Bought this as a gift for my wife who had grown tired of the limitations of her iPad. Got it for a great price on sale (under$500.00) . It is as nice as any laptop I own, including my Mac Air Book 11.6. Fast with 8gb RAM, nice 1080 screen and good keyboard, although backlit would be nice, but that requires moving up to the 13". The 11" screen is nice as it makes the unit more "portable" and easy to "toss around" one handed like an iPad. My wife loves it and she is not a person who gets excited over tech stuff.

Still getting used to it. This laptop-tablet is lightweight and great for travel and light use. There are some subjective things that I'm still getting used to, such as using a touchpad (even though I had used one on a prior laptop). So far, perhaps the thing I dislike the most is the small right side shift key. I would have much preferred smaller arrow keys and a double-sized shift key, such as on my older laptop. I also wish it had more than one USB slots; I ended up buying a 4-port hub. But functionally, this seems to be quite useful for limited uses, especially when on the road and don't want to be loaded down with a larger laptop.

Best ultra portable for my needs

    Posted .

I needed a sub 12" laptop that I can take on my trips. Compared to the discontinued Surface 3, this Lenovo is more "unassuming" (which is a good thing for me). And was surprised that it also packs a core i5 with 8gb of ram, which is performing the same than more expensive models out there. It handles web development (full stack) pretty well. The only annoying thing I've found so far is the right shift key. I keep hitting the arrow up by mistake, which breaks my flow. I'll get use to it eventually. As for gaming, I don't do much, but when asked, I always point them to the intel website. Here is the one for this laptop's processor+gpu: https://gameplay.intel.com/HardwareGames/95452/Intel%C2%AE%20Core%E2%84%A2%20i5-7Y54%20Processor%20(4M%20Cache,%20up%20to%203.20%20GHz)
