Great 2 in 1; Right Shift Key Annoying

Fast, flexible and fabulous. Only issue is the placement of the right Shift key. Need to reach past the Up key; seems like a small issue, but after years of touch typing this will drive most users crazy. Have to change keyboard layout with an app in order to swap the two keys.

The Yoga 910 2 in 1 16 GB 1 TB SSD is impeccable. I've used MacBook Air n Pros exclusively the past 10 years and wanted to try another laptop. The efficiency, speed , convenience and fun with the Yoga 910 is awesome. We've added a cooling pad that has increased battery time usage and performance successfully. It's a winner!

Pros: -I love the 14 inch screen -The screen resolution is fantastic -I love having a 1TB solid state drive -So far processing power is good, although I haven't done a lot with it yet -Light weight & thin Cons -Stupid placement of the righthand shift key. It takes some getting used to. You realize just how many times you type a ? -REALLY stupid placement of the camera. It is on the bottom of the screen giving you a really bad angle when using the video. I guess you are supposed to put the computer in a tent-style set-up, but then how do you type? -It is not silent, the fan runs and you can hear it, but it is not over-loud. I really wanted a quiet computer though. -Fingerprints show up easily on the finish on the interior & exterior. -You have to buy an adapter to have VGA, HDMI, SD card, extra usb, but I found one online that is really lightweight and has all the extra ports in one (and it was cheaper than what best buy offers). -Runs hot. The computer gets hot, but so far that hasn't been a problem. I don't know what will happen when I am using it in a hot environment though. -So far the battery has not lived up to its supposed extra long battery life, but I may have to play with the settings. There are a lot of cons, that sent me back searching on-line over and over again for something else, but there is nothing comparable in the price range that offers the light weight, with large screen, high processing power, and storage amount in a solid state drive. I am hoping that the battery life, running hot, and fan noise will not prove to be long term problems that get worse over time.

The placement of the camera at the bottom of the screen is to allow the near borderless edges on the three outside edges of the screen. This allows for a larger diagonal viewing area but still keeping the overall size of the device as small as possible. You can adjust the web cam position by tilting the screen and moving away from your face. The normal operating temperature of the Intel Core I-7 processor in this device is 150 and 154-degrees Fahrenheit. Both processors operate between 97 and 100-degrees Fahrenheit at idle and 132 and 136-degrees Fahrenheit working at full load. The fan on this device will run to keep this device within optimum operating temperatures. The battery life of this model with the 4K screen is up to 10 hours, depending on the work that the device is performing. You can extend battery life by changing your power management setting to a more conservative one. You can do this in the control panel, in the power management category on your system. Select a more conservative power management setting to extend battery life. lenovo

A funny thing happens when you finally get that new piece of hardware home, unbox it and then turn it on. Oh...this is different. Yup! This is different. I was coming from a Lenovo W530 Laptop which has performed like a beast, but was...well..., a beast. It was heavy and the power supply was a necessary tag along because the battery life was about 1.5 hours on a full charge. Fast forward and the Yoga is 1.5 lbs and has a usable battery life of 8-10 hours so I can bring it everywhere and use it all day long without worrying about power. So, for me there are a lot of major differences in how I'm able to use the device compared to my old laptop. Let's talk about the major differences. 1. Battery Life is greatly extended and this is a huge plus. 2. Weight is 1.5 lbs vs. 10 lbs all in with the power brick so this is a huge plus. 3. Display: The display is true 4K and is stunning but with that comes the small type which in many cases actually causes problems especially when connecting to external monitors. The good thing is you can configure the display to magnify the screen and it actually works very well. 4. External Display ports are limited. I had to buy and additional piece of equipment to support the external display on my desk and then I went Wireless for my 2nd external display. It works but it is kind of sketchy so if you are planning on using external displays you may want to consider something else. It will work but takes an effort. Lenovo would be wise to solve dual external monitors natively to the device. 5. It's quite. 6. Build quality looks nice and so far I haven't had any issues. I will say it is kind of awkward opening the display. Haven't really figured out the best way to do that. 7. Price/Performance: What can I say, Lenovo packs a 7th Gen I7 Processor, 16GB of RAM and 1 TB SSD into a sophisticated modern skin. I was considering a Microsoft Surface Book and this same configuration would have cost me nearly double to price of my Lenovo. I wanted the Surface Book but couldn't justify the cost. Bottom line, is I really have grown to love my new laptop, just took a little effort and time learning the new capabilities and getting used to the new tech.

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo Yoga 910-14. With regard to external displays, the Yoga 910-14 has a USB-c port that carries HD audio and video. With an adapter, you can connect to an HDMI external monitor which gives you two displays, the laptop display and the external monitor. For dual external monitors, you would need to use a USB-c universal port replicator. lenovo

Good machine - but keyboard layout a stinker!

This is a great machine. It fulfilled all of my requirements for processor, storage, memory, quality build, and weight for the price. The only drawback is the lousy keyboard layout. I had read reviews complaining about the decreased size and poor positioning of the right shift key on the keypad. All those reviews were correct. As a touch-typist it is a stinker to try to reach that right shift key; most of the time I hit the up arrow. Then I have to go back and correct errors that I would not normally make. I hate it. I adapt on the road by typing slower; at home, I use a wireless, traditional keyboard/mouse to compensate. In my opinion, Lenovo missed the boat on the keyboard design on this model.

I've read many reviews and videos online and have gone to the store to check out the Lenovo Yoga 910. I was split between the Yoga 910 and the HP Spectre x360 13". At first I was leaning towards the Spectre but after seeing that the 1TB SSD version was offered I decided to go with the Yoga 910. Pros: This computer feels premium even with the grey finish. Many times computers will sacrifice the feel for the looks and material but this doesn't not feel cheap at all. This computer is fast! Even with multiple tabs open in Edge the computer runs well. The keyboard feels great! I will say the shift key on the right is a little small but after a day of use I've already gotten used to it. The layout is great. The keys feel great, not too stiff but not too loose either. The trackpad is very nice and responsive and feels very smooth. If you don't like that one side on the bottom is dedicated to the left click and the other is dedicated to the right click you can change it to where its not dedicated to everything. The fingerprint reader works very fast. every now and then I have to change my finger placement but doesn't take more than a second for it to read the fingerprint. The screen is beautiful! The 4K screen makes everything come to life! I really enjoy watching movies and videos due to the amazing picture quality. The touch response on the screen is great! Very smooth. Feels like you're on an iPad screen in my opinion which is good. The sound could use a littler work (more in the bass section) but overall it gets loud and sounds pretty good. Even though the speakers are on the bottom of the computer towards the user it sounds like they are coming from under the screen facing upwards. The battery is tough to determine yet cuz I've only had this for about a day but so far I've been able to get good usage out of it. I work at a university and I have a desktop but prefer to use a personal computer due to being able to grab it and go when needed when talking to students and so far it's lasted the better part of a day. Online it claims about 16 hours of battery but I think realistically its probably closer to 10ish but still great battery life. Cons: I wish that this computer had a thunderbolt 3 port or something but it isn't really a make or break thing for me as I have never really connected my computer to any screens or anything and the rare occasion when I do I can use an adapter. Another con would be the placement of the webcam. Its in a bit of an awkward position under the screen at the bottom center. It could make for some weird views when conference calling but if you angle your head down or just put the computer in "tent" mode than its not an issue though you won't have access to the keyboard. The last con would have to be the finish of the computer. The grey looks great, however, it does attract fingerprints. I wish that maybe the inside wasn't the same coating or something. If they had made a silver one of this version through Best Buy I probably would have gotten that one instead but It's not like a major thing. Overall: This is a great computer! I am a huge Apple fan but decided to stray away a little and try a Windows computer as my portable computer and keep my MacBook Pro as my stationary computer. It took me a little getting used to the Windows system but on this computer it wasn't tough. I would definitely recommend this to someone looking for a good 2-in-1 computer that isn't too small but isn't large either. I will definitely be looking at Lenovo for another 2-in-1 whenever it comes time to replacing this one. Great product!

A really good price for beefed up 2 in 1 system

I did a lot of research on 2 in 1s. I had moved from an Apple MacBook Pro to a Microsoft Surface Book choosing not to buy into Apple's pitch of trying to make you buy 2 products (a newer MacBook Pro plus an iPad Pro) to do the same thing as Microsoft Surface Book. I love Apple products but that is not a cost-effective solution even for Apple lovers. I also had purchased a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 with 8 GB memory 256 GB storage. However, it was not beefed up enough for a heavy business workload. Surface Pro 4 is a great product but I needed 16 GB memory and 1 TB storage. Microsoft Surface Book was beyond my budget to replace the Surface Pro 4 at this point. I researched for weeks online going back and forth on all the top 10 ranked products. It came down to HP and Lenovo. They had the same configuration as the Surface Book but were significantly less expensive than the Microsoft Surface Book. I made 2 trips to Best Buy to give them a look over. **Best Buy tip** - Find a Blue Shirt Sales Person on the floor for more advanced technology discussions. I started out with a non-Blue Shirt and realized I knew more than him on the HP and Lenovo products I was evaluating. Best Buy "Blue Shirt" seem to be more experienced and product knowledgeable sales people in Best Buy. They have taken a lot of training in Intel-based products provided by Intel so they can really guide you the best in making a final decision on which product is best for you. In defense of the non-Blue Shirt sales person, he did a good job and quickly pulled in a Blue Shirt to help me out instead of stalling out our conversation or making it up. I ultimately chose the Lenovo Yoga 910. It's maxed out, light, easy to get up and running. I was able to migrate all my data and setup my programs from my Surface Pro 4 within about a day. I had to get used to some features but it is a sweet product. I have had it for about 1 month and it is humming along with a very demanding workload. In summary, I think the Lenovo Yoga 910 (and probably the equivalent HP) is the best value for a maxed out 2 in 1. I may have been just as happy with the comparable HP 2 in 1. It also has great reviews online. Both are about $1,000 less than the comparable Microsoft Surface Book which the "Blue Shirt" also recommended. The Surface Book is a sweet 2 in 1 product but you are paying more for the Microsoft name in my opinion. If I had another $1,000, I may had gotten the Microsoft Surface Book again. Best Buy also sells the Microsoft Surface Book, Apple and most other major brand products. It's probably the best place to go to shop for a wide range of laptops and 2 in 1s. They are also constantly running good deals and promotions.

I need to be honest, I'm a Mac girl. My last several laptops have been Apple MacBooks and I swore I would never go back to an IBM compatible computer. Well, given my profession and the fact that much of the software I need does not always have a Mac OS version I had to bite the bullet and look for an IBM compatible laptop. I searched and searched, narrowed it down to either a Lenovo or a Dell and then after looking even more between a traditional laptop and a 2-in-1 decided to take the leap and go with a 2-in-1 realizing that they were very much capable of being used for business purposes. After comparing the Lenovo Yoga 700's and 900's and several Dell 2-in-1's I kept coming back to the Yoga 910 because of the amount of storage, the processor speed, the sleek look, the quiet sound of the laptop, the touch screen, the feel of the keyboard when using it in tablet mode, and screen resolution. One of the big issues that I do need to get used to is the location and size of the right "shift" key. Lenovo placed it oddly and it's just a bit small. It has taken a bit of time to get used to but it's not a deal breaker for the laptop. I surprise myself with how much I really enjoy this 2-in-1. It's my first one and I would likely get another one to replace this one. Now I do still have my Apple MacBook but I definitely love my Lenovo Yoga 910.

Overall I am very happy with my purchase of a Lenovo 910 Yoga laptop. It's been I few weeks since my purchase and I know I made the correct choice for me. This is a good ultralight laptop/tablet for any user. I opted to go for the ultra display, larger hard drive and 16GB memory since nothing is upgradeable. The laptop display is very crisp and the battery life is great. My only complaints are sometimes when the fan kicks on it is very loud, and the usb-c ports. One port is just for charging and the other one is only for peripherals. Lenovo should have made both ports capable of doing both. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this laptop despite the two issues above.

I did a lot of research before purchasing this laptop. In fact, I have two friends who purchased this laptop before me and recommended it. I was a little disappointed. The shift key placement is monumentally bad design, and it should have been a warning sign. The shift key placement can be fixed by remapping the keys, however the sub par touchpad cannot be fixed. You can adjust the sensitivity, but I have found with the sensitivity all the way down, CAD programs become unwieldy. With the sensitivity all the way up, CAD programs are navigable, but you cannot hope to type. The keyboard layout and touchpad are overall just poorly designed and made. Lastly, the screen is beautiful, but I really don't need (no one needs) a 4K screen. You have to use the built-in settings to lower the resolution just so you can see and use Windows programs. Further, it drains battery life, which on this laptop is middling at best. I really wish they had offered this laptop with a 1080p HD screen and 1TB HD option. To get 16GB RAM and 1TB HD, I had to get the 4K screen. The fan noise is loud and always runs, but that hasn't bothered me as much as some. It is not a bad laptop. It has just been a disappointment. I feel at this point there are no great laptops on the market that have it all. Apple used to make the best, but now, they are distracted by gimmicks and profit. There are smaller manufacturers who allegedly make great laptops (on spec), but when you dig into the reviews, they are horribly unreliable with high failure rates. I feel this laptop will probably perform adequately for a few years to come, so it is good enough but not great.

The battery life of this device is approximately 10 hours with the 4K screen, depending on the work the system is performing. If the touchpad will not give you the detail you need, you can use an external mouse with this device. There are some software programs that are not compatible with 4K resolution, this will change in the future, which gives the Yoga 910-14 4K model "future protection". Finally, with regard to the right shift key issue you mention, there is a free software APP called KeyTweak that may help you. You can switch the key functions of specific keys on your keyboard with this software, so you could change the right shift key with the key you hit in its place. It really does come with amazing specs which is what attracted me to it, however, it is certainly limited on ports and connectivity. If you've read other reviews I'm sure you read about the location of the shift key, its a pain but you do get used to it. Fan noise also went away with the bios update. Having said that, I probably wouldnt buy it again. The performance reliability isnt quite there even with the monster specs.

I was on the fence about returning this, and then the 30 days ran out, and it was, "oh well, it's good enough." The display is nice, the big "chin" (area underneath the visible display) is a bit odd, I had to dial down the max CPU to 99% and that seems to have stopped the fan from running so much, and the small right-side shift key makes me nuts. The keyboard stroke depth is a bit short if you're used to a deeper touch, so to speak. But, the 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD are nice. The charger plug does wobble a bit (not a tight fit), and then there is the hassle of getting new connectors for ethernet and HDMI. I hope I get to like it more than I do now (replacing an older MacBook Air I've had for quite a while, just tired of the whole Apple thing and most of my business work is on Windows anyway). I was looking at Dell XPS 13 and a ThinkPad model (I've had two other ThinkPads back in the day, I just like their touch and feel overall). No problems with the fingerprint scanner that other people have complained about on other sites. But that shift key, that just kind of grates on me. Think long and hard about if you can live with that.

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo Yoga 910-14. With regard to the right shift key issue you mention, there is a free software APP called KeyTweak that may help you. You can switch the key functions of specific keys on your keyboard with this software, so you could change the right shift key with the key you hit in its place. Just Google search "KeyTweak" and you will find articles about what the software does and you will find the download location for this free APP. lenovo

I spent many hours researching "ultrabook" options. I have purchases several Yoga laptops for family members and we have had good luck with them. So, I was biased to like the Yoga 910, but I was dismayed by the concerns written in other reviews. So, rather than rehash all the details found in many reviews, let me address my views on several concerns I had read about in my research. 1) The Right Shift Key. There is no denying the odd keyboard layout choice the designers made. The bottom-right 6 keys are: ? / UP / R-SHIFT LEFT / DOWN / RIGHT This layout puts the UP/DOWN keys right above/below each other, which makes sense from an arrow pad standpoint, but that removes the typical double-wide R-SHIFT key (like the L-SHIFT) and moves R-SHIFT to the far side of the up arrow. For touch typists, you will not get used to this! However, there is an "easy" fix. The app "KeyTweak" is available which allows you to remap/swap the UP and R-SHIFT keys so that despite the labels on the keys, the R-SHIFT is moved to where your finger expects it. For touch typing, all is right again. The downside is that when I DO want to navigate with the arrow keys, I'm not in touch-type mode and hitting the "shift" key to go up is not quite natural yet. I discovered another consequence. For the remapping I've done, the remapped up-arrow doesn't "repeat" when I hold it down. This may be another KeyTweak setting to look for. I'm also considering remapping the RIGHT and DOWN keys so that up and down are over each other again. Lots to experiment with, but I haven't taken the time because it doesn't bug me that much. Bottom line on keyboard layout, the annoying shifted-RSHIFT can be fixed easily. So, I didn't ding my rating for it. Nothing's perfect. 2) The Fan Many reviewers indicated a march louder fan noise than expected and described it as loud and distracting. When I began using my Yoga 910, I too experienced a nearly-constant running fan. The fan wasn't loud in the "grinding gears" sense, but it was ever-present and very audible in a quiet room but not noticeable in a loud classroom. Most reviewers complaining of fan noise received feedback to "update drivers", and some indicated it didn't help, so I didn't hold out much hope. And with the fan running, I was only getting about 3-4 hours of battery life. When I had a chance, I decided to open the Lenovo system maintenance app have it check the system. There were indeed a few things it recommended updating, though they seemed innocuous and unrelated, so I updated everything the tool presented as available. Sadly, from a scientific point of view (because I now don't know which thing helped), I then also took a second action. I opened the power settings and switched from a hybrid profile to a power-savings profile and adjusted every setting I thought could help. I didn't need high performance while editing documents and web surfing on battery. I tweaked some "while plugged in" setting for better performance, but mostly turned stuff down. To my delight, as I rebooted and powered up, the fan came on for a few seconds and then it completely shut off. I then used the laptop continuously while plugged in and later while on battery, and it ran silent with no (audible) fan for hours with no heat problems. Since then I've used the laptop for a couple weeks and the fan almost never runs (at a level I can hear, anyway). I couldn't be more pleased. This is the "fanless" experience I've always wanted from a laptop and I'm finally getting it. Everything else is great! The screen is stunning. The icons are set with some scaling to automatically give me high resolution, but scale up the icons for usability (probably a Win10 thing). Touch is responsive. TouchPad is OK, though I turn it off when I'm typing because my palms brush against it and move the cursor. I also like the charge cord that comes in two pieces: an extension cord segment (plugs from wall to brick), and the brick (which has a standard wall plug directly mounted on it). This way I can haul just the brick to school and leave the extender at home plugged in. Anyway, great laptop.
