Hard drive crashed after buying in brand new only a few months after purchase. Product was returned to Owings Mills store to try to retrieve data. Geek squad rep told me the next day that they’d have to send computer to “corporate l” in Kentucky in order to retrieve date . He told me that there would be no charge because the computer is still under Best Buy warranty . After nearly 6 weeks of waiting for the computer to be returned I get an e-mail form Kentucky saying they Received the laptop but will charge me for data retrieval . I refused service because I was told I wouldn’t be charged . They mailed it back to Owings Mills store . I went to pick it up and it was damaged !! The power button was broken and it would not turn on . I wasted 6 weeks and lost all my data due to Best Buy INCOMPENTENCE . None of the Best Buy staff members even attempted to apologize to me or admit any fault or even sympathize ! Terrible customer service overal

Owned just over 3 mths. Thank god bought extended warrenty. The pc overheats when plugged in usb C drive, not regular usbs and fan is failing making loud noises. Crashes happened during work. So upset. Took 9 hours multiple hang ups with Lenovo support staff and this was the upgraded staff. Finally got a supervisor escalated. Lenovo contracted repair coming 9/22020 to replace the motherboard. Ill let you know how that goes and what else is failing.

We are sorry to hear that you had issues with your Lenovo Yoga C740-15. Be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. Lenovo

The hard drive failed after only 5.5 months. I had bought the total geek squad protection plan. However, the customer service at the geek squad in White Marsh, Maryland is horrible. They are unprofessional and not knowledgeable about anything. This is the second computer I have bought in 6 months from this location with a “hard drive failure.”

I’ve only had this computer for 4 months, the touch screen suddenly stopped working and then the fan started making a loud noise. I contacted support and they wanted me to send it in; that sucks but ok I’ll make do for a short time. Turns out the part they need isn’t available and the service won’t be completed for another MONTH. They’ve had my computer for 3 weeks already! Don’t bother with this piece of junk, everything you need to do will be put on hold for 2 months. My work is on hold and I have to use my 8 year olds school computer to get my school work done.

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Lenovo Yoga C740-15. It is possible that resetting the computer back to original factory settings may correct the issues you describe. Here is a link to instructions for restoring a Windows 10 computer back to original factory settings:  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026528/windows-10-reset-or-reinstall. Once you have restored the computer, test the touchscreen. If it is still not working, be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10 installed on the computer, then update all of the BIOS files and drivers up to that latest version of Windows 10. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software installed on the computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. As you reinstall your programs on the computer, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. I just bought this laptop and it has problems from the moment I turned it on. When I turned it on it was lightening fast I have had it only for one month not even and it keeps freezing, blacking out the top row on the screen and just not even working right. I am only working on sharepoint and save everything to a hard drive and now the computer is slow and stops me from doing work.

    Returned because of flickering screen

We had this laptop a total of 3 days. The first day, everything was great. The second day, we started to notice an occasional flickering. By the end of the third day, it was every few seconds intermittently. While rebooting, the bios screen was flickering too. Tried the updates that Lenovo suggests and nothing seemed to fix it. After researching, we found that this is a common problem for the older c730. We just returned it.

Loved this laptop until on the 3rd day of owning it, it wouldn’t turn on. We tried everything but it had totally shut down. What a waste! We have always had HPs but wanted to try Lenovo... needless to say I returned this immediately and am going to order another HP instead. I would say bad apple but I have seen the same scenario in some of these reviews which leads me to believe there could be a bigger issue.

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Lenovo Yoga C740-15. It is possible that resetting your computer back to original factory settings will correct the issue you are having. Since you can not boot the computer, this system is equipped with OneKey Recovery System. There is a very small pin hole on the bottom, right side of the device, right near the top right corner of the cooling vent on the bottom of the device. You will need a pin to push this reset button. Plug the device in. Let the battery charge for about 15 minutes. Push the reset button. The system should boot to a choice screen where you can choose "Restore To Factory Default". Select this. It will delete everything from the hard drive except the original factory install of the operating system. You will need to reinstall all programs and files after the reset. If you don't have copies of the files, try to make one before you restore by selecting "Boot to desktop" and trying to back up your files. Once you have the computer reset, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. This laptop has over 500G of storage space. Too bad 475G is on the local D drive. The C drive has 53G which is mostly taken up by the system. Once you add office a couple apps you are in low storage purgatory. I has a consultation with a Geek Squad agent and that led nowhere. Thank goodness I was able to return it before the 15 day expiration and got another one.

The Lenovo Yoga C740-15 ships with a 30-day trial of Microsoft Office 365 already installed on the computer as part of the Windows 10 Operating System. If you have installed an additional copy of the software you are causing a conflict with two copies of the same software running at the same time. Additionally, be sure any other software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. As stated, there is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. I purchased this Laptop on 7/24/2020 (in Store) with an estimate delivery day = 8/4/2020. Until 7 follow ups via email and 3 visits to the store the computer arrived on 8/21/2020 a total waste of time in these critical times of COVID. The Sales Person never indicated at the point of sale that the Laptop will take too long to arrive, thus creating incorrect expectation to the customer. This Laptop is critical for College first day where classes started without the Laptop.
