    It’s good but not great!

The reason why I got this is because Best Buy was having a great deal on this. I got for 165 after tax but the price for it now it’s not worth it. Another thing is that my subwoofer keeps disconnecting from the sound bar. So don’t waste your time on it.

Looking for easier set up and found it!

I had a 5.1 set up for music and movies and that worked very well but also was entertainment for the cats as they would constantly destroy the wire connections. Being older with bad knees I no longer was able to keep up with that so I started looking at sound bars in hopes of finding an easier solution. I had just went with a LG 65" TV so I wanted to keep it with the same brand / series. This unit was definitely straight forward and I mounted a shelf on the wall as a stand and no wires dangling for our fury friends to play with. Initially I was not sold on this unit / set as it just sounded flat. After reading some reviews I saw that others felt the same about the sound and suggested getting the rear wireless add on speakers. So I purchased those and they definitely made a difference as far as filling the room with sound. It wasn't until I streamed a series on Netflix that supported Dolby Atmos that I found this unit shined, was very impressed. Although it isn't the same as the 5.1 system previously used, and knew it would not be the same going in, after adding the rear speaker kit and doing some tweaking with the software App that was downloaded to our android phone we have found this to be a much better set up for our situation. Took a star off as I feel you need the rear channel kit to make this perform.

I’m pleased overall with this soundbar. Great sound once you get it setup and tweak the settings for bass. I currently have it connected via HDMI ARC and in movie mode in my setup. Pros: Dolby Atmos, HDMI ARC, optical, HDMI in, HDMI out, ease of setup, clarity of sound, good lows without drowning out the mids and highs, Wi-Fi setup and use Cons: Initial bass settings too low and need adjusted, no 4K pass through (minor feature for most), Atmos only works with HDMI ARC Great soundbar for the price and I personally couldn’t justify going with a higher model due to my personal use at home. I mainly use this for cable watching or my Apple 4K TV.

I had a Panasonic sound bar, that was not Dolby Atmos, so I bought this so I could listen to my 4K blu-ray's with Dolby Atmos in Dolby Atmos. And, I could immediately tell the difference when I first turned on the television just watching cable. The sound was much fuller and much clearer than the previous sound bar that I owned. I'm sure if you buy the more expensive sound bars you will get better sound, but really I think all you need to do is buy this one, as it sounds great with my 4K television. I'm pretty happy with my purchase so far!

Got it open-box and am very happy with the sound and ease of setup. Plugged into hdmi-arc and never need to use the tiny dedicated remote again. Sub works very well - zero issues with connectivity. Only quirk is mounting holes are on the bottom, not the back. Standard sound bar mounting brackets won't work, but I just used an L bracket made for hanging a shelf and mounted to the wall right under the TV. Sound is good for movies and TV for ~$300, but I wouldn't pay retail.

For regular everyday use, it sounds nice. If I had bought a higher version in this LG series, likely would give it a 5 stars. You can turn up or push the sound just so far beyond its size and intended purpose. Easy to connect, and easy to set up. Definitely do ARC rather optical hook up - sound quality is better thorough ARC.

the one I have was an open box item with everything still intact. The system sounds very nice compared to my older sound bar. The bass isn’t as deep as I thought it would be but it gets the job done for movies. If you’re expecting this to bust out windows with sound then look somewhere else but for casual gaming, action movies, and music at reasonable levels it gets a solid thumbs up!

This was a great upgrade to my previous sound bar. Much better sound quality and seems to be truer to the sound. Also, when paired to my LG tv and Apple tv everything gets turned on when I turn on the Apple tv so convenience is amazing! The bluetooth connectivity is much improved as well. My previous LG bar used to cut out but this one hasn't missed a beat. And with Dolby Atmos I'll be getting the best sound quality I can for the price!

Overall, I'm generally satisfied. I can only give it two dings: 1) There is a noticeable delay between power-on and when the wireless subwoofer kicks in. The 10+ year old Samsung unit this replaced (also wireless sub) did not exhibit this behavior. 2) The soundbar does not have mounting holes on the back. Instead, it has mounting holes on the bottom with a pair of L-shaped brackets intended for wall mount. So, some adaptation is required if you want to mount it to a TV using any of the many "universal" sound bar brackets available... including those from Best Buy.

This is a very good soundbar overall although the volume control is very restricted for the subwoofer. It is very easy to set up and the wireless woofer connects without any effort. It did take some effort to sync the audio and video but sync was finally acheived.

This is a nice sound bar. Easy to set up and sounds good. I bought this on open box so I got a good deal but a normal price I feel there are some other products out there that are little bit better which is why I gave it four stars instead of five

We purchased this unit to go with our new LG 65" 4K and I was really excited to get something that would pair well with the TV and allow us to use one remote for the TV and the sound. Sadly, we had to return it after trying to watch a Concert Blu Ray because the volume ceiling was just not high enough for us. For movies and TV shows, it's really great though. Currently we're using a Bose Cinemate with no smart features, so we always have to use the Bose remote for volume. I'm looking into the LG SK10Y which is 550 Watts and should give us just enough volume for watching Iron Maiden.

I couldn't ask for any more out of a 2.1 soundbar. I was looking at going 7.1 with separate surrounds then I watched my 10 month old pull lamps off of the side tables by the chord every chance he got and imagined him tackling the front towers daily. The sound is good, it is absolutely not going to make you think the room is filled with speakers but it has a wide front stage and moves the sound around well. I have yet to watch anything with Atmos so I can not comment on that. I was deciding between the SK6Y and theSK8Y, DTS:X would probably be utilized more but I felt like Atmos was the way things are headed. I look forward to adding the rear surrounds at some point and hope to be wowed a second time.

Now that you can expand this unit with rear speakers, this the SK8 shines over the SJ8. Still wish it included a center channel at this price, but the addition of Dolby Atmos is a nice addition. It doesn't actually include top firing speakers, but virtualizes the Atmos effect and it sounds pretty awesome. Tested it out with Blade Runner 2049 running in tvOS 12 beta on the Apple TV 4K and its definitely more room filling. Also, I love the new design as it is very uniformly rounded in all the corners and matches aesthetically with the new rear speakers and subwoofer designs. Love this sound bar!

I purchased this product under the notion that I wanted a good upgrade for my current LG smart tv (which I recently purchased). I brought it home and had it installed in less that 30 mins, including tucking away wires. It syncs instantly without programming with your LG tv and includes programming guide if you’re using a different smart tv. As far as sound quality, crisp, solid and deep. A dramatic improvement from my previous and money well spent. If it’s any consolation, I’m constantly told by my fiancé to turn it down. I would say it’s a great product by that alone!
