    Great Refrigerator Overall

Our fridge was installed by two men, which is recommended. The doors were removed making it easier to move into the house, which helps when you have tight spaces. Once the doors were attached and we plugged it in we were able to preset the temperatures for the fridge and freezer. The manual says it takes about 24 hours to fully reach the preset temperatures. Things we loved: the stainless model we got has a nice clean look, the wheels make it easy to push and pull into place especially having the water line attached for ice and water, the French door design really makes sense so everything is pretty much at eye level, the bottom freezer has plenty of space both in the top drawer and even little compartments for smaller items, the lighting inside makes everything visible with no shadows, the door compartments easily fit gallon sized items and all your condiments including cans, the slim ice maker giving you door storage without sacrificing space, the pullout crispers and deli drawer are super smooth and convenient with the glass above making the contents visible without having to pull them out to tell, adjustable shelves give you 3 levels of storage, the doors are light enough to open with one finger, the ice maker works frequently so you don’t run out, the water dispenser has a big button and gives you space to fill a big pitcher on the pull out shelf, the door alarm is nice if you forget to close the doors all the way, the filter for the water is tucked away in the top so no storage is compromised, and it runs quietly and infrequently. Some minor complaints: to allow the doors to open properly you should always open the right door before the left due to the middle attachment, when closing you should close the left door before the right, as anyone with stainless appliances knows it can be very hard to keep clean with fingerprints and smudges, the water dispenser has a pretty weak flow for filling even small cups, the ice can get jammed from time to time forcing you to break it up manually when it freezes up, the replacement water filters are $45, but can last up to year even if recommended for 6 months, and unless you can try different configurations with the shelves you have to lay 2 liters and wine bottles flat. Overall we are very satisfied with this appliance and would recommend to anyone looking for a French door style refrigerator. Everything is easy to get to, lighting is very bright, plenty of storage, great pull out drawers, the convenience of ice and water with separate buttons, and it runs very quiet.

    The best refrigerator ever!

I have had several refrigerators in my life and this is my favorite. It looks beautiful in my kitchen, it makes plenty of ice in the door, the water is cold, the french doors give exceptional room for storage in the refrigerator and the freezer. It is easy to clean. I love having a crisper for fruit and one for vegetables. The freezer is deep and has a pull out shelf that holds a fair amount of goods. My ice maker stopped making ice so I called the LG company and they had it up and running in about 5 minutes and they are there 24-7.

We have been using this Refrigerator for quite a long time now and it has been really quite and durable. The Refrigerator is big on space due to its ice making unit inside the door and cooling is plenty.

We've had the unit for 6 months and in fact we just replaced the water filter. The unit with very minor modification fit the spot perfectly...in fact, almost too perfectly that it's not going anywhere. I love the looks of this appliance. This is an attractive addition to our kitchen so much so that it almost looks like we just remodeled. We had a black refrigerator. The french-door is quite appealing and stylish. I was hesitating to get another ice/water dispensing unit because of the issues we had of water freezing and clogging. So far, this feature has worked flawlessly. The only issue is the ice sometimes doesn't come out because they're stuck together. It maybe just a matter of lowering the freezer temp. The design of the ice maker is imbedded in the left door which is a space saver since this used to take up space in the freezer compartment itself. Also the ice maker plus feature which makes ice faster is also a nice feature to have. The freezer being at the bottom took some time to get use to I supposed. This is our first refrigerator with the freezer at the bottom. It has plenty of room for our needs specially since we also have another refrigerator in the basement.

I love this fridge. I've been wanting a french door fridge for a long time. Finally hubby gave the ok to order one. The fridge is so spacious and very easy to clean. The only down fall would have to be the constant cleaning of the stainless steel. But other then that it's an amazing fridge.

    Amazing Fridge!!!

The fridge is super quite and has so much space to put groceries! I was affraid the freezer would be small but I was wrong, once I started packing food into the freezer I realized its pretty big! The stainless steel is quit nice and classy and always germ free!. The indoor icemaker is great and in a very compact place in the left door of the fridge. I wish it made bigger ice cubes at a faster rate but it does a pretty good job of keeping up with the family! I love this feature that isn't stated in the information for this fridge. if something goes wrong you call up LG put your phone at the top of the fridge and it beems a self diagnostics check to LG over your cell phone, thats pretty cool! I hope I will never have to use it lol ;) When I got my fridge delivered we had to take off the doors to the fridge the delivery guy's were the best!!! I live in an apartment in Brooklyn so its a norm here!

    Outstanding Fridge for the Price

I recenlty ordered a fridge from Best Buy that I wound up sending back (great customer service by Best Buy in that regard), and I decided to go with this LG after doing a lot of research. I have had it for 2 days and so far, absolutely no complaints! It has lots of room inside even though the door shelf bins are a bit small, it lights up as soon as you open the door and the visibility is excellent, the spill proof shelves are just that, you can open either door first as well as close it from either side, the freezer has a sliding upper drawer to help separate the food, and it features two crispers. The stainless steel look on the outside is very sharp and it has gray metal on the sides. The filtered water comes out strong and cool and my only knock so far is that the ice bin is on the small side. For about $50 to $100 more, you can get the same fridge with a second ice-maker in the freezer section. I chose to get this one so as to not sacrifice freezer space. Overall, it runs quietly and has been a great addition to the home.

    Good mid range fridge

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased this unit after returning a Samsung that made too much noise. This unit is very quiet and has extra room in the fridge due to the in door ice maker. My only complaints are the location of the water filter is a bit awkward and the in door water dispenser location is a bit weird and klunky. The spout sits only about 1/2 inch from the edge making it difficult to fill a larger container and there is no place to rest your glass or container while it fills.

We were a little scared about having a water & ice dispenser because we never had one before. Sometimes you hear the horror stories about the ice machine & water dispensers not working but so far everything is working fantastic.

    Product Warranty

This LG fridge is less than 6 years old and the compressor failed. We contacted LG to start the replacement process for a new compressor as it was still under warranty. Was told we must provide certified LG repair tech who had confirmed it was the compressor, they would send an authorization to the tech and then ship the compressor to repairman. I followed up with the repairman 3 days after talking to LG and he had not received the authorization. I called LG to inquire why it hadn't been shipped, and was told they were missing my home address. That was on a Friday. They could not explain why no one bother to call to ask for an address even though they had my phone number. They assure the compressor would be shipped on Friday. Well, a follow-up call on Monday and guess what?! Compressor still hasn't been shipped! These people are non-responsive and worse customer service EVER! Would not provide next-day shipping because according to customer service supervisor, "They typically don't pay for that if it is something they are not billing for." Too many choice to even consider buying LG! Don't even consider! They will never get another penny from me!

Love it but be aware that the ice dispensing capacity is limited. You will get some out and then have to wait for another batch to be made. Don't expect to get 'gobs' of ice out before running out. Also the water comes out at little more than a trickle. This is my first water dispensing unit so matybe my expectations are not in line with what's 'out there''. These are not my major reasons for buying so it's not a big deal for me. Other than that, it's great. Lots of space. Easy to move if needed. Quiet. Good 'bells and whistles'.

Replaced an older side by side. Heard reports of it being loud but have not experienced anything noticeably different than every other fridge we've owned. Only drawback is the water dispenser...every guest that comes over inevitably gets sprayed by water when they push the water button while holding the glass under the ice dispenser. Once you figure it out it is nice though.

This is a great refrigerator I have been using it now for over 4 years. I really enjoy the compact ice depressor in the door leaves ample shelf space and I make cakes on the side so this is a huge bonus for me. The shelves come out easily when you need to store large tall items.

Buyer beware! LG only warranties labor for 1 year. That's 4 years less than Whirlpool. LG will warranty parts for 7-10 years but you have to pay the hefty fee to replace those parts. We have had this fridge for 5 years. The first one had to be replaced within a week due to the compressor getting so hot that the side of the fridge was too hot to touch. This compressor in the second one just went out on Labor Day and it will cost us $400-500 for labor alone to replace it. Wish I had paid attention to the warranty differences when we were shopping because Whirlpool would have covered this.

    Compressor broke after 2 years

The compressor is broken after only 2 years. Warranty covers parts but labor is gong to cost between 4-5 hundred just to fix this thing. I would not buy it. One would expect a $2000 refrigerator to last longer than 2 years.

Love the french doors! Nice big interior, well lit with LEDs - money savers on bulbs. Neat temp control on the door. Wish the freezer had movable dividers to keep stuff separated and standing up. Mostly great - fridge depth nice - stuff doesn't get shoved back and die in the depths. So far, so good.

We bought this refrigerator less than 5 years ago. We just found out that the compressor has been leaking Freon and will cost about $600 (that's the cheapest estimate) for the labor alone! LG customer service is located in South Korea and they are extremely hard to reach. I could only use the live chat option to actually "talk" to someone. They said they would send a new compressor, but we had to cover the labor costs and had to choose between a number of LG approved companies to hire for the labor. Then, they would mail the compressor to the repair company. I will never again buy another LG product. When I asked why we had to pay for the labor, which is the most expensive portion, they said that per the warranty, the compressor is covered for 10 years but we are obligated to pay for the labor. He then hung up on me before I could reply. Before you buy this refrigerator, look up the class action lawsuits brought against LG for the cheap, unreliable parts that they use in their appliances and electronics. Also, try to call their customer service, so that you get an idea of what you'll be going through in a few years. These refrigerators look nice and are great for a little while, but plan on buying another in about 4 years.
