Truly love this dishwasher. It is so quiet that I can not hear it running. Cleans very well and has lots of room for all my dishes and pans. The only thing that I wish it had was a rinse cycle. I did not notice this before I purchased it. Also, when the cycle is done, there is not light to state the the wash is done. Not a big deal just wishe it had one. Would purchase it again.

We have LG washer/dryer combo and have been very satisfied. So when we needed a dishwasher we looked at LG.We looked at all brands and came back to LG.It is quieter then we expected even tho we read ratings. stating how quiet it is. We watch TV in den next to kitchen and with prior dishwasher we would start it after we were done watching TV. With the LG you don't even know its running. The inside size is astounding. The easy to adjust racks make life so much easier. Being energy efficient is an added bonus.

I love my new dishwasher! I've had it for a month now and it's just wonderful. It is so quiet that the first time I run it I had to put my hand against it to feel it was working. It makes a light, almost negligible noise. I have run it at night without it disrupting our sleep. Everything I have put in has come out perfectly clean. I am still trying to figure out the rack tines system - you can move them or even push them down completely to customize the space, but I fail to see how you would be able to fit as many plate sets as advertised and I struggle a bit when loading pots. For those that complain about the length of the cycle - yes, it takes about 2 h 30 m for the normal cycle, but it is worth it.

This is my third dishwasher from BestBuy (these guys have been great to deal with by-the-way) after my old dishwasher died. The first dishwasher was a Samsung in the $500 price range (on sale). It did ok but loading the dishwasher was awkward and my wife just really didn't like it so back to BestBuy we went. The second dishwasher was a GE (an even exchange so still in the $500 range, on sale). This dishwasher had the silverware caddy on the front of the upper and lower dish racks which my wife liked because she didn't have to pull the bottom rack out to put in the occasional spoon or fork. At first it seemed that it was going to work out ok but then I began to notice that unless the dishes were pretty clean going in, you would often have to re-run them again. We also noticed that quite often the silverware would block the soap dispenser from opening up properly and dishes were NEVER dry. Most unsatisfying and for $500 I figured I should not be this frustrated. So back to BestBuy we go. The LG is now our third dishwasher. We decided to go up in price (now we are in the $700 range, on sale) when we couldn't find anything else we liked. OMG what a difference! The controls are simple, straight forward and easy to use. While the dishwasher has a delayed start feature available, unless you are using it for energy savings it is so quiet I doubt you would even know it was running. Dishes come out sparkling clean and DRY!! We have NOT had any dishes come out with food particles still on them - which is what you would expect. I do give the dishes a quick rinse to get any large food particles off but I don't have to do a pre-wash scrub like I did for the GE. The upper and lower racks have some adjustable tines which you can either lay down completely or on the upper rack you can adjust their angle as needed. As with any new dishwasher it takes a little while to figure out the best way to fit your dishes in the racks but the good news is my dishes have always come out clean. All in all we are very happy with this dishwasher - Great job LG!

Does a very good job with cleaning dishes that haven't been rinsed. It is nearly impossible to hear this thing run! My fridge is louder. Very easy to control. The cycle times are longer than I expected but that's OK. It's performance more than makes up for it. Excellent build quality. The lower rack makes this diswasher. Very easy to load large or odd shapped items.

This LG dishwasher is nice and quiet so you often don't even know it is running. As with other reviews, sometimes it is difficult to make your dishes and glasses stand up. They often fall over when there are just a few items in the dishwasher. Otherwise, it's OK. Cleans well although the cycles are a little on the long side.

Overall, very happy with this new dishwasher. It is very quiet and holds a lot of dishes. The silverware basket is large. Easy to install (my son-in-law installed it). I do miss a feature my old dishwasher (Maytag) had which showed which stage of the cycle it was in (wash, rinse, dry). The first few weeks it had a sour almost fishy smell but that has gone away now. The normal cycle takes about 2 hours which seems really long to me. Cleans dishes without rinsing them, although occasionally it does not get an item clean.

Pros: I read many reviews about this dishwasher and was worried. I love it so far! I've only had it a couple of weeks. It is so much bigger inside so I wash less often, saving money! It shows the time and a normal load is 2 hours 12 minutes, saving money over the 4 hours from my Bosch. It's SO SILENT! There are many cycles which is a plus. I put in EVERYTHING now. No trap to clean, no standing water. Overall, I love the dishwasher and haven't found problems. Cons: turning on the dishwasher is awkward as you must have it open to push the buttons. Admittedly I need to read through the manual to see if there is an easier way. I took out the wine glass holders on the upper rack as they waste space. I'd recommend this as I haven't had single problem.

    Quiet and Effective

There are two primary functions I look for in a dishwasher: that it is effective at cleaning and that I'm not bothered by it when it's running. This LG tackles both of these functions very well. Cleaning: Arguably the most important feature in any dishwasher; if it can't clean the dishes well then it's wasting time and resources. The LG dishwasher rarely leaves a dirty dish and the few times it does I can generally tack it up to the fact that my wife likes to use the eco-friendly detergent which has always been less effective. Overall I'm very satisfied with how effectively this dishwasher cleans. As an added bonus, both of the dish racks are pretty customizable making it easy to have lots of dishes that fit well together, or a good number of larger, awkward dishes. Aside from being clean the dishes are always dry whenever water doesn't pool on them (like every dishwasher)/ Noise: Wait.. what noise? This LG washer is easily the most quite washer I've had; once I leave the kitchen I don't even know it's running and even in the kitchen I easily forget. I noticed while installing that the washer tub (directly on the other side of the door) has a thick flexible rubber ring around it to help fill in the space between the surrounding cabinet and the washer itself. Clean Time: an issue that a few reviewers have brought up. The standard Normal run is about 2.5hrs since the drying time takes longer as there is no heating element. Add extra dry time and it goes to over 3 hours; alternatively an extra rinse cycle (which effectively helps the dishes have fewer streaks) brings the total clean time to around 2hrs 50min. It's not a speed demon but I'm not exactly sitting around waiting for ti to finish so the speed doesn't bother me. Install: Install is about as easy as any other dishwasher; if you're comfortable working in small tight spaces and you have the right tools the install is easy; otherwise I suggest getting a professional to install. Other Thoughts: Other reviewers have mentioned that they did not like the fact that there was no "done" light on the to tell you when the cycle is complete. There is, however, a rather unintrusive little song that plays to let you know which has been perfectly effective for us.

Cleans great-- must use a rinse aid!

To make a long story short, it gets the dishes clean (as long as you use a rinse aid) and is very quiet. If you want the long version... At my old house I had a Maytag with a hard food disposer and never had to do more than scrape the leftovers off, I never rinsed the dishes and they always came out clean. When I moved I immediately noticed that the existing Kenmore dishwasher did not get the dishes clean, even with pre-scrubbing, and over time it seemed that it was just moving the dirt around. I did a lot of research, read a ton of reviews and finally settled on the LG LDS5540ST. I've had the dishwasher for a month now and I'm highly satisfied. About a week ago I had several dishes in one load with food particles stuck on, but then noticed that the rinse aid notification light was on and hoped that was the reason- otherwise I was going to be really annoyed. Thankfully filling the rinse aid dispenser corrected the problem. My new dishwasher stood up to the Thanksgiving dishes with no problem! I don't love the way the silverware basket hangs, it doesn't seem very secure. I also don't love the spacing on the bottom rack tines--- although you can fold down rows in many different configurations, they just don't seem to fit my cereal bowls. But I will deal with these annoyances for the luxury of getting clean dishes.

I bought this dishwasher Memorial day, 2013. It was very quiet, and worked really well. The cycle times were a bit longer than my old washer - about 2 to 2.5 hours, but it cleaned and dried the dishes very well. As others have stated, the cutlery basket is somewhat flimsy and can easily get knocked off, but it never happened to me during an actual cycle - only when putting things in or taking them out. There ends the good part of the LG experience. A few weeks ago, it starting making what I can best describe as a groaning noise. It got louder and louder, and about two weeks ago, it stopped mid cycle and displayed error code "FE". I called LG for warranty service, and they told me there is no warranty. The paperwork clearly indicated a 1 year warranty on labor, and 2 years on parts. After winning my argument, I asked for a authorized service provider, and they only offered 2 choices - in a city of 1.3 million people - 2! Naturally, when I called them, they had a one week wait. They came out, charged $87 for the visit, and told me they needed to order a ($38) part, and they will charge another $87 to replace the part when it arrives. They estimate a 5-day lead on the part, and another week to schedule installation, so I'm probably going to be without working dishwasher for a full month. This has got to be the worst appliance experience I've ever had. I paid $600 for this, and in less than 2 years, I'm already out of pocket almost $200 for repairs. My old $250 Whirlpool was loud as a locomotive, but worked without a hitch for 15 years. Not only do I not recommend this specific product, I would not recommend LG as a brand due to their horrible warranty terms and duration.

I have bought many open box items from Best Buy, however, I have never had so many parts missing! It was missing mounting brackets, a very improtant hose, instruction manual and the back legs. Luckily all the products off of my broken Samsung fit nicely (both Korean made products, a coincidence?) and the manual was an easy download. The actual look and performance of this machine is amazing. It runs really quietly. The child lock you have to hold for up to 5 seconds but no biggie. The inside is cavernous and I love the ability to easily adjust the racks. The handleless look gives it a very clean amd sleak look in my kitchen.

Great features and design. Noise level and plenty of room for large loads. Door needs more spring for closure. It is very low to the floor. Upon delivery there was a hole punctured in the water delivery hose. Better protection for the components under in the mechanical compartment might be a good thing. Best Buy was very prompt in arranging for a replacement unit by Self-Pickup from the local warehouse. It was my decision to pick it up.

This LG dishwasher is impressively quiet and cleans better than my previous dishwasher. The racks inside can be rearranged in a number of ways for odd items. The only negatives are that the controls are on the outside and always visible (as opposed to some with the controls on the top of the door), and the contents are still quite wet when the cycle finishes, sometimes with water puddling.

When my old dishwasher became so noisy you couldn't stand to be in the same room with it I started searching the web for one that was really quiet but didn't need a second mortgage to pay for it. My new LG Dishwasher fit the bill perfectly. It only generates 48 decibels when operating and was so quiet i had to place my ear against the door to check to see if it was running or not after my husband installed it. The dishes also came out sparkling clean and I like the tine angle adjustment levers and movable silverware baskets, too.

The LG dishwasher with direct drive motor is amazingly quiet. The rack system holds an unbelievable amount of dishes and it seems impossible to block the spray arms. I can now wash all my pans in the dishwasher again - they fit & the LG gets them clean! Despite what other reviews have said… 1. I find the air dry cycle to work better than my old heater style machine, and now I don't have to worry about melting things. 2. The LG does indeed heat the water when required, but you'll only see the heating element when installing the machine. The LG is half the price of equally featured machines, and easy to install! A great buy!
