Only works once in a while
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've heard that this sound bar can do amazing things and it would be great if mine turned on so I could see those things happen. I paired this with the LG tv that I bought (connected through an optical cable) and when I turn the system on the sound works about 25% of the time. It's been very disappointing and frustrating and I'm asking the BestBuy folks to come out and try to fix it. Would definitely never purchase anything sound related from LG again.

Not what I expected
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I get better sound from a much less expensive sound bar and sub woofer. For what ever reason the sound mutes for a brief moment periodically. Very annoying.

HOT Garbage
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This sound bar is hot garbage. Does it really matter how it sounds if the audio lags. It was an emotional experience switching channels, inputs and settings for hours to deremine if I was crazy or experiencing a bad Milli Vanilli concert. Bottom line save yourself the stress. The sound bar lags and is much worse playing anything in Dolby Atmos. I will be returning ASAP.

Disappointing Quality
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased this unit as an open box unit and didn't have a remote. We upgraded our TV to a 55" LV 9000 series TV and our old Sony soundbar was having trouble connecting. Since we love the LG TV so much we thought we would give their high end soundbar a shot. The bluetooth subwoofer kept disconnecting and it was almost like the system didn't have any base.

Poor sound/returned
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was expecting a decent sounding system at least, however it was nowhere near good sound. I experienced difficulty connecting to my LG TV and not to mention, the Atmos/Dolby sound feature was not working. Everytime I tried using it from Netflix for example, the speakers would go haywire, start popping and cracking, and the display would glitch.

Poor Bass and for the price NOT Worth IT!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.there is clarity on sound but poor on bass. ITS 500 watts and expensive but not enough power NOT worth IT ! I Returned it. Better buy receiver 7.2 with Dolby Atmos and 6 separate speakers with 2 bass and 1 center. you will spent almost same price but you will experience best DOLBY SURROUND and DOLBY ATMOS sound!

VERY DIFFICULT SOUNDBAR
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.THIS SOUNDBAR HAS AN HDMI CORD TO CONNECT IT WITH. THIS CORD IS IN ADDITION TO THE HDMI CONNECTION TO MY TV! RESULT IS THAT THE SOUNDBAR DOES NOT WORK AT ALL WITH MY SYSTEM WHICH CANNOT SUPPORT 2 (TWO!!!) HDMI CONNECTIONS. DO NOT BUY THIS SOUNDBAR!!!

Not worth price!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a Bose sound bar that only cost me $500, it is far better than this $900 sound bar. This product has weak bass, easily creates static, and has alot of distortion. It may have fancy stuff like arc and LG synch, but it just sounds awful.

It's ok
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The good: The soundbar was easy to set up. I plugged it in, attached the optical cable to my tv, and changed the tv's sound out to optical, and it worked. I plugged in the sub woofer next, and it connected automatically. I also purchased the LG wireless rear speakers, and they too were detected automatically and connected when turned on. Changing the volume and the equalizer mode was intuitive. I played Dr Strange and The Guardians of the Galaxy II, and the sound was clear. The not so good: This sound bar has its moments in action scenes, but more often than not, I find the sound to be less than enveloping, even with the additional rear speakers. My point of reference is a $350 Pioneer sound bar that I bought in 2013. It stopped playing earlier this week, and this LG just doesn't consistently fill the room the same way the Pioneer did. With the LG, the sound is definitely coming from in front of me in normal scenes, and only in action scenes does it surround me. I've changed the settings, adjusted the levels of the sub, rears, upward facing speakers, and nothing fixes it. It's not bad, it's just not the Pioneer. As some others have mentioned, I did notice a couple instances of the sub cutting in and out. You're supposed to keep your router a meter away from the soundbar and sub, but that's not possible for me. I'm presently watching Jumanji, however, and it hasn't cut out for the whole movie. While others here have praised the app, I've found it to be spotty. I eventually got the soundbar to manually connect to my wifi and the android app, only to have it not be detectable again after I took the dog for a walk. Now, I can't access the speaker again (with the app). Frustrating. I also don't know why I had to give the app the ability to detect my location for it to find the speaker. This is a privacy issue, along with the logs being sent back to google and lg which are set to be sent by default, but you can turn them off. Knit-picking: The front LED display is always on, and I wish it would turn off when I'm not changing the volume or adjusting a setting. It does dim, but the dim should be the bright setting; the bright is very bright in a dark room. It would be nice if there were more adjustments and customization options. However, I also think that could make the soundbar more confusing. I wish my LG tv remote would control all of the LG soundbar options.

Long-Term Review: LG 5.1.2-Channel Hi-Res Audio So
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After four years with the LG 5.1.2-Channel Hi-Res Audio Sound Bar, I feel more than qualified to give an in-depth review of this powerhouse of a home audio system. From its sleek black design that has seamlessly integrated into my living space to its groundbreaking Dolby Atmos technology, this soundbar has been a pivotal part of my home entertainment setup. Durability and Longevity: Four years on, and the sound bar looks almost as good as the day I unboxed it. The build quality is exceptional, with no physical wear or tear. The wireless subwoofer has also stood the test of time, proving that LG prioritizes durability in their designs. Performance Over Time: The sound quality has remained impeccable. The Dolby Atmos technology really brings movies and music to life, creating an immersive sound experience that fills the room. Whether it's the subtle whisper in a tense movie scene or the deep bass in a dynamic music track, the soundbar captures it all with clarity and depth. Software Updates and Customer Service: LG has been proactive with software updates, improving functionality and adding new features that have kept the soundbar up to date. On the rare occasions I've needed support, LG's customer service was helpful and efficient, making the process stress-free. Sound Quality: The high-resolution audio support ensures that music playback is of the highest quality. The wireless subwoofer complements the soundbar perfectly, providing rich, deep bass that you can feel. The 5.1.2 channels create a surround sound experience that is hard to beat, especially in this price range. Overall Satisfaction: My experience with the LG soundbar has been overwhelmingly positive. It has been a reliable and high-performing addition to my home entertainment system. The soundbar has not just met but exceeded my expectations in terms of audio quality, durability, and the immersive sound experience it provides. In conclusion, if you're in the market for a soundbar that offers exceptional sound quality, durability, and an immersive listening experience, the LG 5.1.2-Channel Hi-Res Audio Sound Bar with Wireless Subwoofer and Dolby Atmos Technology is an excellent choice. After four years, it remains a central piece of my home entertainment setup, and I look forward to many more years of exceptional audio experiences.

Great Soundbar for the money!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this soundbar, and the wireless rear speakers, for my LG OLED C7 TV. It really made a huge difference when watching movies in my modest basement home theater! Setup was a little bit confusing in terms of how to route audio to the sound bar. I ended up using HDMI ARC (HDMI 2 on the TV hooked up to the ARC port on the soundbar) and it works pretty well. Had to set the AV Sync setting on the TV to -3 to workaround some lip sync issues that I thought I noticed (although my wife said she didn’t notice a problem). The only lingering issue I now have is that the TV and soundbar come on again about 30 seconds after I’ve put my Apple TV 4K to sleep, but I haven’t really spent much time trying to figure that one out. The Dolby Atmos speakers in the soundbar do have a noticeable effect. We watched Mission Impossible Fallout, and could definitely perceive the upward-directed Atmos audio channels when there was an overhead train or helicopter in the movie. Some of the other reviews here cast some doubt on the Atmos feature of the soundbar, but I think it’s pretty good for the money. By far, the best feature is simply the rich, immersive audio experience that has been added to the excellent C7 OLED screen. All the movies I have are new again! If you’re thinking about getting this soundbar, then I don’t think you’ll be disappointed (unless you’re the type who’s never happy with anything). Be sure to get the rear speaker kit too.

Home movie buffs' delight!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been so skeptical of sound bars because I came from separate speaker set ups-- however, this one blows me away. Although I have been already using a quality soundbar recently, this one still changed the game for me. The way the 5.1 sounds on this is seems like it really throws the sound where it is supposed to be. It results in a dome of sound around me, like it creates a bubble. I was so immersed in the movies I watched that it feels like I am in a theatre. I used to think, having a huge 4K HDR TV and a decent sound system was good enough for me to experience real theatre at home--- not until I used this soundbar. It kept me really engaged in the movie, it was almost tiring to watch an action movie because I felt like I was really in it! At low volume, the dialogue is still so clear and crisp. Dolby Atmos is quite good too-- I tried those Netflix Atmos-enabled titles and it does throw height into the sound. My only two concerns are: 1) Atmos is still very limited on devices, so I had to tweak my set up a bit to experience real Dolby Atmos. 2) 4K passthrough does not cover all settings. There are some 4K settings that it does not accept, so I really need to keep switching my connection set up depending on what media I will use (e.g. movie or gaming). Other than those, straight up 5.1 is so on point. You will love this soundbar. Oh and it's almost plug and play out of the box! I can't wait to go home to watch more movies!

Good sound bar,
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound on this bar is really good. When connected to TV, the some TV's have the ability to take over by powering it on and off with the set and responding to volume control. If I were to rate this on set up, I would give it one or two stars. I had to call tech support to connect to wifi. That is my only complaint but it is a big one. Ithas the ability to add wireless rear speakers but no info is provided in documentation. The documentation issue almost made me give it 3 stars but the overall quality of this product is 5 stars so I was kind and gave it a four star rating. Customer service is there if you need it.

Blows my mind!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Can't believe the sound this speaker creates. From the moment I plugged this in it has been great. (Instruction manual is useless) It feels like you're in a theater when just listening to regular tv. Bass is deep and sound is clear. And that's on a low volume level. With most sound bars you have to turn the volume up high to get the sound you want. Of course the different sound modes are great. The only downfall of this system is the size. The sound bar is huge and may cause problems with placement. It does comes with brackets if you want to mount it though. I'm not sure it gets any better than this so would I recommend? Indeed yes! It would definitely impress your friends if they're over to watch a game.

Easy Set up. Sound inconsisitent. Clear voice a +
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the soundbar at $500 as part of a bundle of purchasing a TV. I was interested in the up-firing speakers for Dobly Atmos. The fact that I also did not need to buy a wall-mount for it was a plus. While in store I was not impressed with the sound but thought that it would sound better at home, boy was I wrong. First the soundbar needs the subwoofer otherwise it sounds like a crappy TV speaker. I got the LG 55 C8 tv and can tell a marginal difference with the soundbar and tv speaker when the subwoofer is unplugged. When the subwoofer works sound is pretty good but it is not worth $500. I heard better sound from a Yamaha speaker at $180 with the sub built into the bar. The hassle of going back to the store and reboxing it led to me keeping the soundbar. You can hear audio pretty clearly, but if I am not blasting the speakers you will not be impressed by the sound. Average product with good features.

Atmos is awesome!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For me this is an upgrade to to a Samsung sound bar I’ve had for a while. This system took about the amount of time I was expecting to set up. Simple to take out of the box and the sound bar itself was easy to get hooked up. But the sub was a little tricky to connect. I tested it out with a Planted Earth documentary and man is this thing realistic. Also tried a cd for Dave Matthews band and the quality of the sound was very satisfying. So clear and crisp with the sub kicking in to give it that extra boom. On regular tv sometimes the sub is a little much but I’m sure there’s some adjustment for that that I haven’t come across yet
