I purchased an open-box item and inquired before visiting the store about its contents. I was informed that the box would contain the main soundbar unit, a wireless subwoofer, a remote control, and necessary cables and mounting hardware and the reason it was fair condition was because of damaged not missing parts. However, upon arriving at the store to collect my purchase, I was only given one speaker. I contacted Best Buy, but they have been unhelpful and unwilling to assist me with this issue. I am very disappointed with their lack of response and support.

Impressive LG Soundbar for the price

I recently purchased the LG 5.1.2 Channel Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofers, Dolby Atmos, and DTS:X in Black from Best Buy for $247.16. I initially opted for an open box product to save some money, but unfortunately, the first unit had Bluetooth connectivity issues. Thanks to Best Buy's customer service, though, as they promptly exchanged it for a brand new one without any additional cost. The back speakers didn't deliver the same quality of sound as the soundbar and subwoofer. Despite this setback, the overall audio experience is still impressive. The soundbar's Dolby Atmos and DTS:X technologies truly elevate the audio, creating an immersive environment for movies and music. The wireless subwoofer adds deep bass that enhances the overall audio quality, making action scenes more thrilling and music more vibrant. The build quality of the system is excellent, and the sleek black design complements any home entertainment setup. In conclusion the audio quality from the main components combined with the reasonable price makes it a worthwhile addition to your home entertainment setup.

    Surprising Sound

I previously had a 4.1 Surround LG speaker system and it punched way above it's weight, it was also 5 years old, didn't include Dolby Atmos, hdmi arc, or Dolby Digital Plus. In other words, I didn't know what I was missing until I bought this hush puppy. Pros - 1) a very loud speaker setup, in terms of sheer volume, the sound output will completely engulf a living room or bedroom with no effort. 2) I love bass in all forms of content, however bass levels come in many different forms. You got the super low end where you can feel your soul vibrate and the lower middle end where you hear (not necessarily feel) the depth of sound. Safe to say, this has all forms of bass. You will definitely feel your soul shake from the bass this produces and hear the depth of sounds. Even with all the bass though, trembles and mids are exceptionally clear and not muddled. 3) How's Dolby Atmos? I don't watch or listen to much content that fully takes advantage of this feature, however, I did many Dolby Atmos sound test and the sound was incredible. Basically, Dolby Atmos adds another layer of depth to your audio, not only do you have front, center, middle, rear left, and rear right sound you now have channels to account for height. You can hear audio above you or below you etc. This system comes with two drivers on the sound bar that face upward, and when Dolby Atmos is in action I can definitely hear the height of certain positions, such as birds chirping high up on a tree. Keep in mind, this system introduces a lower end version of Dolby Atmos, so it won't compare to a $800-1200 surround system, but this system being on sale for $300 makes it punch well above its weight in the Dolby Atmos collection. 4) LG' soundbar app is amazing, I've been using their app for the last 5 years and never have any issues with it. You can control and customize your sound preferences and each speaker. Bass too much at night? There's a night time mode that reduces the bass frequency. Rear speakers needs a little adjustment? You can tune them with ease on the app. 5) How does it compare to the competition? I also purchased a 5.1 Vizio Surround system with Dolby Digital Plus (does not include Dolby Atmos) for my living room as this LG system is in my master bedroom. Although it does seem like an unfair comparison, as this LG system is a 5.1.2 and the Vizio is only 5.1, both were purchased at the same price point (I purchased my LG open box for $250). Let me tell you, the Vizio sound system is great but this LG blows it out of the water. When I was watching Solo Leveling, the 11th episode with the Igris fight, the Vizio system was very loud but I couldn't feel the impact of any punches, walls being obliterated by sheer physical force, impact frames etc. I was disappointed. I decided to go to my master bedroom and re-watch the fight scene and was instantly blown away at the difference. Every punch, every slam, every impact scene sent shockwaves of vibrations throughout my body and the whole room. I felt as if I was in the actual scene. It was magnicifent. Where am I'm going with this? If you want immersion and an insanely great value surround system, it's going to be hard to beat this LG, especially if you catch it on sale. The cons - 1) Very few cons, however, one thing to note as this is not an especially expensive speaker system, the rear speakers are wired. They are not fully wireless. Most speaker sub $1200 will be wired, that being said, the wire setup is ugly and feels cheap. To setup the real speakers, you have a wireless receiver that you must connect to via positive and negative translucent cables. Easy to plug in the wires, however, it's a bunch of jumbled mess. Easy to hide in a bedroom, but annoying to hide in a living room. The Vizio sound system that I bought, the rear speakers do not need a wireless receiver, instead the plug into the subwoover directly, each speaker only needing a single, easy to hide black wire, it looks substantially cleaner and nicer. But if you're willing to put in the effort on hiding the cords on the LG system, you won't be disappointed. All in all, couldn't be happier that I bought this LG system, especially when it was on sale. You won't find a better deal or a better surround at this price range. They're some cleaner looking options out there, but their sound won't compare.

The LG 5.1.2 Channel Soundbar with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X delivers a truly cinematic audio experience right at home. Setup is quick and easy, with the wireless subwoofer pairing seamlessly for deep, room-filling bass. Sound quality is excellent across the board—clear dialogue, detailed highs, and powerful low-end performance. The Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support really shine, creating a spacious, immersive surround effect that makes movies, music, and gaming more engaging. Even without rear speakers, the upward-firing drivers do a great job of simulating overhead effects. Connectivity is another strong point, with HDMI eARC, Bluetooth, and optical inputs making it simple to connect to TVs, consoles, and streaming devices. It also supports 4K passthrough, so there’s no compromise on video quality. The sleek design looks great under any TV, and at this price point, the performance and features are impressive.

I was all set to get the new LG S80QY with rear speakers but when I discovered this new release from LG, I changed my mind and went for this instead. Simply put, for $200-$300 below the S80QY + SPQ8-S, I found this system to be a much better value for me. I live in a small apartment so the less powerful sound bar and the smaller and less bass-y subwoofer suited my use much better. I haven't experienced any connectivity issues with the rear speakers or subwoofer and both sound very good. That said in the past, I have had the subwoofer stop connecting on two LG sound bars so only time will tell if LG has finally improved quality control this year. And I'm not sure what the other review was talking about not getting 5.1 sound from Netflix through this system. I get proper 5.1 and 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos sound just fine from streaming services like Netflix and Apple TV+ on my Apple TV. And all my purchased iTunes Movies and TV shows content also sound great with full Dolby Atmos support. A couple of final things to note: yes, the marketing photos are incorrect when it comes to the rear speaker kit. But this is good as the model in fact comes included with the newer SPQ8-S speaker kit which has a different looking receiver and cloth grills instead of metal. Also, LG advertises in their spec sheet that the Wowcast wireless receiver is compatible with the S75QR, but I can confirm that it doesn't work. And how could it? The Wowcast uses Wi-Fi to connect to the sound bar yet the S75QR does not have any Wi-Fi capabilities built in. I spoke with LG tech support and no one could answer my questions about it. Horrible false advertising by LG. Other than that, it's a great complete budget 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos surround sound system that's perfect for smaller spaces.

Overall a very great product. I recommend this as a great entry level soundbar set up. This is more perfect for those that don't want anything extremely loud or with tons of bass. The sub woofer and speakers sound great. You'll still need to be aware of your surrounding if in an apartment or town home. Your rear speakers aren't truly wireless and have speaker wires that run directly to the wireless receiver so be aware of this when planning where to put it. The rear speakers however don't require their own power cables at least. We ended up just adding it as further side speakers due to not having a way to set them behind us as intended. These speakers and receiver are technically optional but you will need to use them if you plan to make use of Dolby Atmos / DTX features they offer.

    Impressive Soundbar For The Price

This is a very good Soundbar system, better than I expected from a company not known for its speaker products. Setup was a little awkward due to the inadequate quickstart manual, but I was able to get everything out of the box, placed and functional in about 20 minutes. For smaller speaker cabinets, the sound and impact of this system is impressive. There are a lot of reviews/comments about inability to pair the subwoofer and/or rear speakers, but if you follow the instructions absolutely step-by-step as written, it worked perfectly for me. As to the actual performance of the Dolby Atmos and the rear surround speakers, I can testify that they do work. The Atmos effect is subtle, but with a really good Atmos soundtrack, I could discern sounds which seemed to be at a higher location, which was pretty impressive. The rear speakers work well, however trying to achieve a truly immersive rear surround effect is practically impossible. This is not due to the speakers not being able to channel rear sound, but because to attain a true rear surround soundscape, rear channel speakers must be positioned, or mounted above and equally behind the listener's seating. In a typical living room situation, such as mine, there is no suitable setup for this. The included cables are not nearly long enough, and the surround receiver would also need to be ceiling mounted which might be accomplished by hiring a professional home theater installation technician, but would add several hundred dollars to the cost of this system. So, in hindsight, I wish I had gone for a larger 2.1 system, but I purchased this set at a very good sale price and having a limited budget to work with, this system offered the best value. The subwoofer is small, but surprisingly effective. The LG Soundbar app worked perfectly and allows for some effective speaker calibration, though it isn't perfect. For example, choosing the Cinema option, and changing individual speaker settings (though left and right speakers can only be adjusted as pairs, not individually, for both front and rear), and THEN changing to the Music option, the speaker calibration remains set on whatever I set under Cinema mode. Overall, however, I am quite satisfied with this system for both music and movies. I wish it had a WiFi connection option, but Bluetooth is the only way to connect. For streaming music, I use my Kodi music player through my TV which is connected via WiFi and plays beautifully through these speakers. Also one more benefit is I now have a complete LG setup: TV, Blu-ray player and Soundbar, so everything can be controlled with a minimum of remotes.

Loveee this surround sound system! Feels like I’m at the movie theater when I really crank it up!! Sound is quality and crisp. Base isn’t over powering at all. Also you can very easily change the modes and sound settings on the app! It also sounds great playing music in the living room, full rich sound. It’s even nicer that I have a LG TV very easy to pair and get started! Looks sleek and I love how the rear speakers are wireless via the receiver! I wish it was easier to mount on my tv but it looks great on the TV stand!

The sound bar is great and the sub woofer adds to the after shock noise you would hear from a theater. The 2 sound are great to give you the feeling of hearing noises from diffre t directions. My son absolutely loves watching his disney movies from the tv as the loud singing noises sound crystal clear. When i play xbox the dolby atmos adds to the quality of the sound like no other. I highly recommend them 10/10. It was also pretty easy to set up as long as you follow the instructions.

Upgraded to this unit from an older LG SL4Y soundbar, and this is a night and day different. Having the two rear speakers really gives a full 360 degree sound, especially since we use this for our living room setup with a projector. The sound is crisp, the app works well to configure EQ profiles (minor tweaking was needed but out of the box the sound was great). And the volume is LOUD. Coming from the SL4Y, it went to 40. This one goes up to 100 on the sound, and it really gets loud. Normal watching we keep at 20-25, with some movies up to 50, so definitely much louder than the previous unit and makes our home theater setup boom. Setting up bluetooth to our projector was a breeze, and we have 0 input lag, so no delays or issues with syncing. Overall, 10/10. Price to performance can't be beat, especially since the volume is loud, setup is easy, and the surround sound and rear speakers make this a great immersive system.

Hard to beat for the price. The sound quality is excellent. I purchased an OLED LG tv at the same time. They pair great together! I can now not only see godzilla like he is standing in my living room, but I can also feel it in my cheeks when he roars. My neighbors also get to feel it. Whether they like it or not. Fantastic sub that causes my floor to vibrate like my house just got a text. Occasionally there is a bug where the audio stops randomly and only comes back with a hard reset (power cycling). Its a minor issue and i would still recommend this setup.
