I've always been a fan for LG products, so when I needed a sound system to go with the LG TV I bought for my daughter's college house, I wanted to stick with LG products. The S60TR seemed like a good fit. I wanted a 5.1 surround system with wireless speakers so I didn't have to run wires around the living room. The S60TR is not LG's most top of the line system, but it also wasn't a cheap $100 attempt at surround sound either. It was middle of the road which is what I wanted for a group of college students it was intended for. Installed and in use, the S60TR does the job. Am I happy with it? Not quite. I'll start with the good. The system was very easy to set up. I hooked the soundbar via HDMI ARC to my LG TV, put the subwoofer on the floor, and rear spekaers in the back of the room. There is a very specific sequence for turning the system on initially that is kind of hidden in the extremely poor directions inside the box. It all connected easily once powered on. Once everything was dialed in with setting on the TV and soundbar, I have to say the sound was amazing. Very loud and rich with lots of detail. I initially had some configuration issues with the TV output and the movie we were watching wasn't coming out of the read speakers. I tweaked things and actually made my daughter jump out of her seat when the rear speakers came online properly. The performance is great and I appreciate that I can control everyting from my single LG TV remote. The girls are going to love this upgrade over the TV speakers they've been using. That said, there are a LOT of problems to overcome before you get to that great performance. First, the instructions included in the box suck. Badly. They are in microscopic print and tell you only how to hook things up. They have no instruction nor even an easy QR code link to more detailed instructions on how the system operates. There is a QR code that leads you to the LG Soundbar App which connects to the soundbar system via bluetooth. Note that if you have an LG app already for working with your LG TV, this is a completely separate app (why?). There is a hidden link within the app for the full instruction manual. Make sure you find it because you're going to need it. Oh, and the bluetooth connection does not reestablish itself after a soundbar power cycle. If you need to use the app again, you have manually reconnect the bluetooth. Second issue- The app is very basic, but at least somewhat useful. It allows you to change someof the most common soundbar settings including balance, speaker strength, etc. You can't do everything in the app though. Some things need to be done directly on the soundbar with the remote. This is where things go bad. The soundbar relies on 3 vertical LEDs for status. Various combinations of these LEDs mean different things. There are PAGES in the instruction manual of various LED configurations. It helps that there is a voice prompt for most things, but setting the configuration is impossibly complex (press right on the remote, up twice, stand on one foot, verify the top LED is lit, the bottom is white and the middle is asking for lunch, then...). Dial the soundbar in, then hope you don't have to touch it again. Lastly, and the one that irritated me most is that the the "LG S60TR Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer and Rear Speakers" is NOT WIRELESS. I expected power cords of course, but no other wires. When I unpacked the box, there are 3 power cords but 4 speakers (soundbar, sub, 2 rears). I thought LG left one out of the package by mistake, so I found a similar one in my stash to use. Turns out I didn't need it as only one of the 2 rear speakers needed power. Why? Because the 2nd rear is passive. There is a wireless connection between the soundbar and Sub, and the soundbar and one Rear. But the connection between the 2 rear speakers is via a 20foot stero wire cable that LG provides. This is such a disappointing setup. I wanted wireless, but what I got was partial wireless. I still had to run an exposed speaker wire to the two corners of my living room! I can't run this through the wall and I'm not pulling up carpet to run it there, so I have an exposed wire running along the back wall that I try to hide behind furniture and plants. It's just mind bogglingly stupid. It like they got 90% through the design of the unit, found that adding electronics to the second rear speaker would make them miss their cost target, so they cheaped out. It ruins (for me) what is a perfectly fine sound system (once dialed in). For those considering this system, I was on the fence between 3 stars and 2 stars. It's a 3 star system if you know what you're getting into. Once dialed in, the sound is terrific. It integrates well with LG TVs and we have no real complaints. IF coming into this cold, it's 2 stars for the diffulty in setup, unfriendly on soundbar status issues, app issues, and the fact that it's NOT wireless like advertised.

If you’re on the fence, get up and buy this thing! The LG 5.1 Channel S60TR Home Theater Soundbar is an absolute game-changer. I fkn love it! From the moment I set it up (which was super easy, by the way), I could hear the difference. The wireless subwoofer hits deep and clean, and the rear speakers actually make you feel like you’re in the middle of the action. Watching movies feels like you’re at the theater, and music sounds rich, full, and alive. All the sports as well, nascar is pretty dope! The Dolby Audio is no joke—you can pick out little details you’d totally miss on a regular TV setup. Whether it’s explosions in an action flick or dialogue in a drama, everything comes through crystal clear. Also, it looks sleek and doesn’t take up a ton of space. It’s perfect for upgrading your living room without going full AV nerd.

If you're looking to elevate your home entertainment setup, the LG S60TR 5.1-Channel Dolby Audio Soundbar is a solid choice that brings powerful and immersive audio experiences right to your living room. Here's my take after giving it a thorough test. Sound Quality: First off, the audio performance is impressive. The 440W Dolby Audio system creates a rich, cinematic soundscape with its 5.1-channel configuration. The clarity of dialogue is superb, making it easy to follow conversations without cranking up the volume. The sound effects are thrilling and immersive, thanks to the dedicated rear speakers that provide an enveloping surround sound experience. Whether you're watching action-packed movies or enjoying a quiet drama, this soundbar delivers across the board. Setup and Connectivity: One of the standout features is the wireless rear speaker connectivity. The absence of a receiver simplifies the setup process significantly. You can place the rear speakers anywhere in the room to get the best audio experience without worrying about tangled cables or a complicated installation. This wireless feature really enhances the flexibility of the system and is a significant advantage for any home theater enthusiast. Control and Customization: The WOW Interface is a game-changer in terms of convenience. Being able to control both the soundbar and your LG TV with a single remote is a huge plus. It makes managing audio settings and checking connection statuses effortless. Additionally, the LG Soundbar App adds another layer of customization with its advanced EQ settings. You can fine-tune the bass, treble, and mid-range frequencies directly from your smartphone, which is fantastic for tailoring the sound to your personal preferences. Included Accessories: The package includes everything you need to get started: the soundbar itself, a remote with 2 AA batteries, an optical cable, a rear speaker cable, and a wall mount bracket. It’s well-thought-out and ensures you have all the essential components for a complete setup. Overall Impressions: The LG S60TR 5.1-Channel Dolby Audio Soundbar offers a premium audio experience with ease of use and flexibility. The wireless rear speakers and the intuitive control options make it a standout choice for anyone looking to enhance their TV audio setup without the hassle of complicated installations. If you’re in the market for a soundbar that combines powerful sound with user-friendly features, this model should definitely be on your radar.

I’ve been using this product for a little while now, and I have to say it exceeded my expectations. From the moment I received it, the quality stood out—solid build, smooth finish, and attention to detail. It felt reliable right out of the box. What I liked most is how easy it was to use. The setup took just a few minutes, and the instructions were clear. Once I started using it, the performance was consistent, and I never felt like I had to fight with it to work the way it should. That alone makes a big difference compared to similar products I’ve tried in the past. I also appreciate the design—it’s practical but still looks sleek enough that I don’t mind leaving it out where people can see it. On top of that, it has small thoughtful features that make everyday use more convenient. If I had to point out a downside, it’s that it took me a couple of uses to figure out the best way to get the most out of it, but that’s more about the learning curve than the product itself. Once I got the hang of it, it worked perfectly. Overall, I’m really happy with this purchase. It’s reliable, well-made, and does exactly what it promises. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for something that combines quality, ease of use, and great value.

Good budget soundbar with good quality surround sound. Just know that it will NOT auto-connect to a Samsung tv--even with "auto power on" and all settings correct, I had to reconnect the hdmi cable every time I turned on the tv. It may work better connected to an LG tv, but the documentation says it should work with any tv that has an eArc port.

Easy to set up. Three sound is awesome and the rear speakers make you feel immersed. The rear speakers are wired to each other, but wireless to the subwofer, so I don't have to worry about the wires. The remote control is completely difficult to use. So, I recommend downloading the app to your phone. This was the only way I was able to get all the features from the system.

As long as you remember this is an entry level sound bar, you'll be happy. The surround works well, overall easy to hook up. Take the extra minute to adjust the sound levels in the app or using the remote, the sub/bass will sound better. Good upgrade for those that want a little more depth and volume from their entry/mid level TV.

The salesman convinced me to buy the Samsung 3.1 soundbar and that it would provide a quality sound better than the LG 5.1. He was 100% WRONG. Yes, the Samsung's was a clear sound with good base but I told him that I wanted to be in the middle of the action and actually feel like I was in the stands watching a game or hearing sounds from the action of a drama cross behind and around me. That's what this LG system provides. It's great. Also, when I'm not watching television, I turn on youtube and listen to tunes and the sound is incredible. I'll turn the rear speakers towards the kitchen and here great music there and throughout the house. For affordable great listening, this is the system to buy.

    Amazing Sound and Bass!

I fell in love with this soundbar! The sound is incredible! The bass that comes out of the subwoofer is amazing as well! With this surround sound setup, I feel completely immersed in a movies environment when watching action, suspense, thrillers, etc. It’s so good that sometimes, the sounds from the back speakers seem like they’re coming from my own environment. I also connect it to my phone via Bluetooth and listen to music. Music sounds amazing. You can use the LG ThinQ app to access the devices settings and adjust the volume, bass and treble. You can change the volume of the soundbar, subwoofer and back speakers individually. There are many different “Sound Effects” settings, such as Standard, Cinema, Sports, Music, Games, Music, Bass Blast, AI Sound Pro and Clear Voice Pro. I prefer the app over the remote control. I can use my TV remote if I just want to to change the volume. The LED display is clear and legible. It was very easy to set up. I do find it weird that you have to plug in the speakers in a specific order (I think it goes soundbar, subwoofer, then rear), but thats not a big deal. I got this on sale, but even at full cost, it’s worth the money!

This is my first 5.1 system, so I have nothing to compare to other than my 2.0 soundbars. I was interested in the Vizio 5.1 system because it was offered at a lower price and has Dolby Atmos. But, that system does not come with a remote and is controlled through a phone app. I like to have a remote with soundbars for quick changes if necessary, so I went with this LG S60TR system. I am mainly writing this review to draw attention to a couple of items for other customers to consider while evaluating this product. I have noticed some reviews calling out the limitations of the Simple Manual. Simple Manuals like this are just quick start guides and do not say anything about the full capabilities. I strongly recommend for LG to consider the following in the Simple Manual, under Installing and Using the Product: There is a sentence that reads "To view the instructions of advanced features, visit...." LG is REALLY selling themselves short and misleading the customer here. The "advanced" features are actually very important fundamental features to understand and use if the customer is to truly get a 5.1 system operating. If the customer simply takes the product out of the box and assembles and sets it up per what is in the Simple Manual, they will end up with nothing more than what sounds like a 2.0 system or even worse given the defaults that run (for example, Surround Sound is OFF by default). So, the wording should not be "advanced" features, but rather should say something like "To view the instructions covering the full capabilities and to optimize your soundbar, visit...." A second thing I would like to mention is how the old phrase "garbage in, garbage out" applies to soundbars. So, before someone evaluates a soundbar system, they will need to consider the source of the input. If the input source does not support Surround Sound and/or has a low quality audio format, don't blame your soundbar on the output audio quality. If the source is music or a movie with a high quality audio format, then the user will want to make sure their soundbar system is set to optimize the particular input. Luckily, the S60TR system has a sound effect setting "AI SOUND PRO" that should do this automatically, but in my experience, I occasionally find another sound effect category that can make things even better. I don't know why LG has set a default of NO Surround Sound on this system, but I think it is the first setting one should change to an ON setting. I have seen some reviews stating that the rear speakers and subwoofer are not working, but it is probably because they unknowingly have Surround Sound off. With all this said, I am very happy with the S60TR for the price. I am one who likes to explore and experiment with all of the settings and optimize. I don't know how things would sound if this system was Dolby Atmos capable like the Vizio in the same class, but what I have certainly meets my needs. I experimented with the volume to see where distortion may creep in. Well, it never set in. I did not want to push it beyond the point where my friendly neighbors would be disturbed, so lets just say I pushed it to the realistic point. :-)

I’m really impressed with the quality of this soundbar. The sound is clear and powerful, and the bass really hits — it gives a true deep, rich feel when watching movies or playing music. The 3D audio effect makes everything feel more immersive, not flat like regular TV speakers. Pairing it with my Bluetooth device was quick and easy, took only a minute. I also like that your TV doesn’t have to be LG to use it, which makes it more flexible. Overall, great audio and definitely worth it for the upgrade.

In its class its one of the better options. Great sound, subwoofer packs great punch but not overpowering. Surrond sound speakers are very clear, not just static noise. For a home theater if you got want to spend more you can do better? But for a surrond sound system for under $500 you will be hard pressed to find one that is more balanced and made with quality speakers. I tottaly recommend this system.
