BEST TV I'VE EVER OWNED! WILL NOT DISAPPOINT!

Purchased this TV as an open-box actually; not sure whom would have returned such a perfect tv, but I benefited big time on the sales price! Anyhow, I'm continually surprised on the picture quality and depth of color this tv has to offer. The navigation menu switching between inputs and streaming services is almost seamless. The remote is ergonomic and easy to use; I enjoy the computer "mouse-like" remote cursor functionality on-screen. The up-scaling is sublime! Hands down, the best tv for the money; only bested by the OLEDs in picture quality...but not on practicality and price.

Moved all our TVs up a level and this one is in the newly finished basement. Our fourth LED tv purchase and this one sits at the top. Great picture but I'm not a home theater nut so I don't know the difference. We don't use the sound but it sounded good before I setup the full stereo. Everybody in the family is loving Amazon Prime. The boy and me are digging Dual Play on Call of Duty. We each see the full screen and no screen peeking really helps me keep up with my son. Best thing is you can take two sets of old glasses and make your own for free. I wish my 55" LG tv from a few years back did everything this one does. The magic remote is better than the last version we had and the setup screens are really neat.

Terrible Light Bleed. Unacceptable for a $2.5k TV.

I read every review under the sun for multiple TV's across all big brands. I'd ruled out Samsung as I didn't like their design and narrowed the selection down to the Sony XBR65850C, this TV and the LG UF8500 (one slight step down from this without Color Prime features). I'd read some bad reports about light bleed on new LG's and especially on the UF8500 so it then came down to the Sony and this - I figured those extra features may overcome any light bleed issues and as this was a newer TV perhaps they'd sort it out. Truthfully I also chose this TV because the design was nicer than the Sony and I already have a 1yr old LG 55" which we do love and serves us well. My hope was that with all the extra technology in this TV (Color Prime, Local Dimming) I'd get away with acceptable light bleed or be able to compensate with the flexible screen calibration options. GeekSquad delivered the TV yesterday (and were great) and I spent some time checking out the 4K content available on Netflix etc. which all looked mind-blowing. The screen is super-crisp in detail and the 1080p upscaling to almost UHD is FANTASTIC. Colours were nice and rich too and the screen setting options were pretty good out of the box. The UI of WebOS is spot on also... Fast, intuitive and a real pleasure to navigate. If I stopped there you probably think this is a great TV... However, it came to the evening and I sat down to watch some Netflix with my wife. The moment it came on, now with a darker room, I sadly saw the dreaded light bleed in all its' 'glory', at the top left corner (where all previous reports had noted it) was a bright triangle of light ruining (what should be) the pitch black bands top and bottom on House of Cards. It became so distracting through darker scenes (anyone who watches HOC knows this is almost every scene!) I could barely watch the program, as much as that sounds like an exaggeration. Anyway, in the false hope that I may be able to calibrate the TV out of this debacle, I started to work on trying every setting I could to dim the light bleed. I tried the backlight, brightness, auto-dimming, colour mix... Anything and everything. It just would not go away. In fact, unless you dim the backlight to almost 0 (which makes absolutely no sense as you start to lose detail and contrast around 50% backlight on screen!) it is always there to some degree. The big problem is that I don't want to have to sacrifice the quality of my brightness, colour or sharpness simply to avoid a completely unacceptable quality control issue. Not only that, but as I watched I then noticed two more subtle semi-circular areas of light bleed right along the bottom edge of the screen, each about 1ft in length (and about 5 inches tall). You can see these in the attached images (Though the bottom area looks almost like a nice gradient in the image, it is patchy and distracting on anything darker than a mid-grey), but let me confirm for you that it RUINS the viewing experience entirely. Now, if I had paid $750 on this TV I might have said "I can live with this"... However, at $2500+ this is totally unacceptable for a mid-to-high end 4K TV in 2015. I don't care if LED's have this issue across the board. Other, older TV's overcame it and other brands minimise it in one way or another so it does not distract from the overall picture quality these TV's can exhibit. I tried again this morning to calibrate away the light bleed in one last attempt, but it's there always and while unnoticeable on bright scenes, even semi-dark scenes make it visible and noticeable and therefore distracting. Long story short, late this morning after an hour or more of working with the TV, I phoned Geek Squad and have arranged a swap for the Sony XBR65850C, which I am told has much better black consistency. The Geek Squad member I spoke with even said LG has this problem consistently (as per any complaints in reviews I have seen online) and the Sony should work better from that respect. If in any doubt, go to rtings.com and look up the reviews for the UF8500 (the model just below this UF8600) and you'll see a horrifying 0.1% score in their black consistency. The Sony scored a 96%. Aside from the science, I could SEE the level of inconsistency across the whole screen in various scenes, a muddy patchy look to the screen in more uniform scenes especially... something I'm just not willing to put up with after a $3k outlay (including sounder etc). My 1yr old 1080 LG doesn't suffer from this (that I have ever noticed) so my question is how big companies like LG can allow this to happen. Fix your technology before selling it. I'm hoping the Sony will prove better but we shall see; it arrives in 48 hrs. If, like me, you are reading multiple reviews and hoping these problems won't affect you; trust me, it's not worth the risk or hassle - even this latest release to the LG range (an upper-mid 4K TV with all the bells and whistles) suffers badly from this - in that light, the only LG's worth buying these days are the OLED's (which are stunning in image quality and black levels). In store the LG blew me away (I viewed the UF8500) and while the LG seemed to have a nicer picture in-store that the Sony, these problems plague the brand (just look at those ratings on rtings.com and you'll see no LG TV (except the top-end OLED) reaches more than a low 7's in rating. I am surprised that no one else has complained about this; perhaps people are less fussy with a $3k outlay on a TV than I, but I want something that has a quality feel as well as nice design. Sadly, the LG is style over substance in this instance. I cannot, unfortunately, recommend.

This TV produces a beautiful picture. The 3D is excellent and the light weight passive glasses makes the movies come alive. This TV has a very wide viewing angle and the speakers are adequate. One very slight issue that I can see is some vertical banding during near white screen scenes, but luckily not distracting at all. No edge light issues with tthis TV. Recommended.

If like me, you are on a budget, and can't afford LG's 65" OLED Curved TV (Model: 65EG9600) which is currently on sale for $5,999.98, then this is the next best thing. I have mine with the picture set up on APS (Auto Power Saving mode) with the "medium" power saving option and it's perfect. You won't be disappointed.

I upgraded From a 1080i rear projection from Sony, and when i first turn this TV on in my living room i was astounded by the difference in picture and color quality. The fluorescent lights in the store do not do this TV justice. Not to mention the motion capture makes movement seem so fluid. And for the price, it was unbeatable. I compared to the Sony of the same size, and the picture looked just as awesome but the price-tag was way more than I wanted spend. All in all i think it is a great 4K set for the money.

Nice tv.....image quality is good. Screen is a bit too reflective. WebOS works well. TV is very fast to change inputs, load up smart apps, and pretty much do anything. Slight light bleed from upper left corner, but only noticeable in certain scenes.

This TV was recommended by a sales associate for a best bang for my buck. TV has been great and we are very impressed. Other brands equivalents are crazy expensive. No better bang for your buck in this price category. Check what the pros say about it! You cannot go wrong with this TV without paying $6,000+ (then go for OLED).

This tv is great. It was easy to set up and get started. Some have mentioned the light bleed in dark rooms at the edge of the screen. I have noticed this on mine, but it is only when there is something light on that side of the screen. If it is dark, the bleed fades away. Best way to demonstrate this is by using the screen saver on the directv box. There is a floating directv logo that moves from left to right and up and down. You can see the screen bleed increase when the logo reaches that side, then when it moves away, it goes away.

We are really enjoying this tv. It has an awesome picture and slim design. Only negative is the sound is a little hard to hear and needs to be turned up. A sound bar or sound system is best for this tv.

Great TV with soft tones, not the amazing bright tones of a Samsung or Sony. You can turn it up if it is necessary, but the low levels are much more realistic. The sound is great. Setup was resonably simple. i was able to incorporate into my home theater system from a few years ago. The remote is exceptional. Folding into Xfinity X1 was reasonably easy. I believe this was the correct TV to by.

This television met all of our expectations. The crispness of the picture is stunning. Multiple picture modes allows for choosing the best viewing options. The sound system is really good, even though we normally run the sound through our home theater system. This television has easy to use functions and the Smart remote is much easier to use than earlier versions of the Smart remote. Occasionally the connection to our home router for wireless connection is a pain. I'm not sure if it is the provider or the television. A quick reset of the router normally solves the problem. With that being said, it would be nice if that did not happen. On those rare occasions when this problem arises, we can connect with all of our other devices (ie. phones, iPads, and computers) without having to reset the router, leaving me to conclude that it is an issue with the television. Nonetheless, I love this tv and highly recommend it to others.
