Bought this as part of the special offer when you get a laptop. I like the fact this is a very slim drive. However, I was a little disappointed when I discovered it only comes with CD burning software and not a basic DVD player. I would assume they would either include a free player or give you an offer to buy one at a discounted price. I hunted the internet and ended up getting VLC. So much happier using the drive now.

this is good external optic drive. with the newer laptops, mine being a new HP 2-in-1, they are smaller and lighter. Its the new trend to not have internal optics, but when needing to use one every once in a while its nice to have an external that is compact enough to through in my back pack.....

It's small, lightweight and portable. Had it up and running and connected to my computer in no time.

At first I was a little skeptical of the very lightweight LG portable DVD drive, but after it quickly installed on my iMac, I changed my mind. It's fast and easy to get working and reads discs like a book, but more like Kevin Trudeau speeding reading a book. Ok, so perhaps reading like a book is a bad analogy. What I mean to say is that it works really well. I'm sure it writes like a book, too, I just haven't tried that out yet.

This unit has provided good solid performance when copying or burning compact discs or DVDs. It isn't the fastest drive out there but having something portable comes in handy for when you want to be able to take it with you. Haven't had any problems thus far with the drive although there were one or two DVDs that it couldn't read properly because of the copy protection on the disc.

Bought to go with a new Lenovo X1 Carbon that lacks an internal CD drive. Got this as it was the smallest and least expensive one they had in the store. I wish it played BluRay, but that wasn't critical. Plugged it in and Windows 8.1 recognized it right away. Small, powered by USB. What more can you ask for.

Overall, an excellent product. A bit on the loud side, but for the price, it's certainly a drawback that is easily overlooked. I've used it quite a bit in the short time I've had it, and it has been extremely user-friendly and given me zero headaches. I'm not a big techie, so I can't offer any in-depth insights into its performance, but as a casual user, I'm quite satisfied.

Im very happy with this cd drive . It was easy to install , easy to operate . More than anything else , it does th job its supposed to very well & thats what i look for most when i went out to find this product My only caveat : why dont they put a disk drive in a laptop anymore ? Its just about th manufacturers deleting this option on a laptop so we have to go out & spend more $$$ on accessories .

Needed something cheap and reliable. I didn't want to overspend buying the apple superdrive so i ended up looking for cheaper ones and this one was something in my price range. Very slim and slick. Very light and portable. Goodjob LG

Looking for external drive since notebooks do not come with them. Wanted one that was compact, easy to use, low priced and reliable. So far this product has met all requirements.

I got this when I bought my HP 2 in 1 as it does not come with a DVD/CD player at all. I was very surprised when I took it out of the box and realized how small and light it was. It works great, very quiet, and no problems. I have yet to use the DVD or CD burning on it yet, though I would like to soon. Overall, it is a nice portable writer for the price!
