8 Months of Customer Service and still not fixed

We have had the worst customer service experiance with LG that we have ever had with any company. They refuse to acknowledge that there is an issue and they never call us back when they say they will. We bought this fridge 8 months ago and the ice tasted awuful. we waited and cycled amny batches of ice and it never imporved. LG after much arguing finally sent repair people out. They tested water and replaced many things but this issue remains. It is not our water. There is somthing in the fridge that puts off a metal taste to the ice. Now after 8 months we are being sent to the regional service maager. After three repair compamies and months of calling we still have no solution. How does LG stay in business? This is the worst Customer Service group ever. They are rude, never return the call when they say they will and outright lie to us on the phone when it comes to "reviewing our case". My wife has spent untold numbers of hours on the phone with them. NEVER BUY AN LG ITEM will be our new policy.

This fridge will break in 3 years!!!!

This fridge was great.... for the 1st 3 years we owned it. We bought this thinking if we bought a higher end model it would last. WRONG! We bought it in July of 2015 and just a week ago we discovered that our ice was not staying frozen. I unplugged and plugged the fridge back in hoping it might reset something. We also ran the ice maker resets. No ice being made and everything in the freezer was melting/thawing. Then we noticed the fridge portion was no longer cold. Everything else seemed to be working... lights, water dispenser, etc. I had a repair specialist out recommended by LG. They let me know it would be $1500 to repair!!! and even if they did the repair they can't guaranteed it won't happen again. He said they see this all the time with LG fridges. At that cost and risk, its not worth fixing. What a huge waste of money. If you do buy this fridge you better get the extended service plan. You will need it!!!! Totally disappointed and frustrated. Out $3k plus the food that went bad in it. Never buying an LG appliance again! Also the water filter and air filters are expensive and require frequent changing so keep that in mind as well.

Just before 3 yr old items in the freezer began getting thawed out, and would not cool down, contacted LG support, and they recamended to canotact LG cert repair. At my cost of $65 they diagnosed as compressor failure and possible system leak. LG will cover compressor, but not labor! Cost about $600 for labor only!! No help from LG on the fact I paid over $2000 and it failed so soon, cert repair company stated if we get it fixed the LG compressor could fail again (per his experience) he recamended getting anything but the larger LG units ! Do not wast money on LG units.

I've had two 30+ cubic ft LG french door refrigerators in the last 1.5 years. Both completely failed within 6 months. The first had 5 to 6 weekend repairs before it was replaced. No food reimbursement for loss of over 500 in food. The second had 3 sealed component fail in the first year as well. I finally went with Whirlpool. 6 of 7 LG Customer service representatives were rude and and completely lacked empathy. I wrote corporate a 3 page letter and they never responded. Life is NOT good with LG! I will never buy any LG product going forward because I got such a bad taste of their customer service. I wouldn’t even consider a Kenmore Elite, which I really wanted, because the ELITE series is also made by LG!

Don't buy LG. It's one of the worst Refrigerators I bought. Within five months compressor went bad. Tech came and said the compressor is in back order and it will take 5-10 days for them to come out and replace the bad compressor. I emailed the corporate (CC LG CEO on the email) Magically the compressor and tech showed up the next day and replaced it. It's been 2 and half years since the changed the compressor and 3 years old refrigerator compressor went out again. the so-called Linear compressor is nothing but a problem. what a waste of $... I used Love LG..Done with this brand..

Do not purchase an LG refrigerator! Indiana has actually formed a class action suit against LG. Check it out online. LG warranties the compressor for 10 years, however what they don't tell you, is that you pay for the labor - a mininum of a $65 service call plus a tune of $650 plus for the labor to replace the defective compressor! If the compressor is defective, they ought to cover the labor to replace it! This $700+ is not covering the food loss! It took over a week for a technician to order the part and then actually come replace it after he made the service call. By that time all food in the refridgerator is ruined. I liked this refrigerator until this problem. If they warranty the compressor for 10 years they must know it has a problem and they should cover the labor. I had my last refrigerator 16 years and did not have any problems until the freon could nolonger be replaced. 99% of the time I leave positive reviews, and I typically LOVE Best Buy, I'm so very disappointed. The refrigerator was expensive to begin with! Shame on you LG!

not a good choice after all

My LG Door-in-door that I purchased early 2015 decided to stop working after 2.5 years . This is a replacement of my not so energy efficient GE profile that served me 15+ years. This ref looks pretty and eye catching on display but will present its flaws once you brings it home. For example , water dispenser is oddly placed and very confusing to new user resulting in embarrassing spills on the floor, ice gets stuck often as it exits the ice tray maker and will stop making ice unless you thaw and take out that stuck ice which is a lot of hassle, hard to keep clean as stainless surface is dirt and print attractant, surface prone to dents and makes a rumbling noise like a motor pumping. Pluses are the convenience of door-inn door, large capacity, 2 ice makers, and looks. I will give 2star because BB or LG agreed to replace it with comparable refrigerator even for a different brand. It must have been the extended warranty that I purchased.

Compressor died in less than 2 years

I bought my LG in May 2018. I needed to get something bigger than the 22 cu ft Whirlpool Gold I had since 2002. I researched online and narrowed it down to two models. After seeing both at the store, I decided on the LG. Everything was fine until two weeks ago when the compressor went out. So glad I got the 3Y protection plan! It took the LG repairman about 90 mins in all to fix my fridge. The fridge looks great and has a ton of cool features. I am very concerned that such a vital component failed so early in the lifespan of the LG fridge. I fear that, despite my initial research, I made the wrong choice in buying this LG fridge.

Purchased this fridge from Best Buy July 26, 2015. It died Sept 12, 2018. It's hotter inside than room temperature. The LG diagnostic app can't tell me what's wrong but based on the hundreds of reviews across the net it's the compressor. It's a beautiful fridge with 2 icemakers but I don't need a nice looking hotbox. LG customer service seems to be a typical offshore phone farm and I could barely understand a word being said.

Passing on some wisdom for the day. Don’t EVER EVER buy an LG refrigerator. The compressors go ALL the time and they are the most expensive to fix. Although LG covers the part for 10 years and it only takes an hour to fix, we are paying over $750 for labor. Average life span of LG compressor is two years per technician!! We have owned this frig for less than two years!

NEVER EVER BUY AN LG REFRIGERATOR. We have had 2 expensive French Door Refrigerators in 2 years, both scrapped because they could not be repaired. We thought the first was just a lemon and bought another; another lemon, doubtful. LG does not stand behind their products. One was still under warrantee, but they continued to throw up road blocks even though it was determined by the repair service to be unfixable. After 1 1/2 months without a refrigerator we gave up and bought a GE. LG wins, we lose.

I will NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! Buy LG products again 6 months after buying the refrigerator that is not cheep we had to have a repair.. 6 months after that it went out again same issue they repaired it, now it's 9 months later and it went out again same problem but now they won't fix it because of the warranty!! If you want to take your chances make sure you get the extended warranty but I would put money into a different brand It is only 2 years old and the way things are going I will be calling for a repair every 6 to 9 months might just take it to the dump and buy another brand!!!!!!!!!!!

Do yourself a favor and don't but any LG refrigerators. Mine has a problem with ice build up from the get go and they fixed the problem once, but it's back to where we started and it's worse and LG won't do anything about it. They are refusing to take ownership over a defective product. My fridge, going on 4 days has been making a very loud drilling noise, coming from the fan inside.

After only 2 years and one month, this refrigerator stopped cooling. I went through all the troubleshooting guidelines, including power reset, but it just isn't cooling at all. I didn't buy the extended agreement because REFRIGERATORS SHOULD BE BUILT TO LAST LONGER THAN 2 YEARS, unless LG's business strategy is to build products that guarantee they keep getting money from consumers. This is one of their better refrigerators, so I'm certainly not inclined to trust this brand any more...

After only 21 months, the refrigerator stopped working. The repairman has declared it unrepairable (seal system). Thank goodness for the extended warranty I bought that will help me buy a new one. LG won't even respond to my calls for service. Not happy! Never again! Repairman told us these refrigerators are known for breaking down. It's almost impossible to find someone to repair it. He told us to buy a Whirlpool and that's what we are going to do. LG needs to stick to TVs.

    Ice tastes bad

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought the LG LFXS29766s a few weeks ago. I threw out the first several batches of ice but the ice from the top ice maker still tasted bad (kind of metallic). I called LG and they wanted to blame it on food odors, which is not the case. They sent out a technician who agreed the ice tastes bad and he called their tech people and they sent out a new ice maker. Ice tastes the same after dumping multiple batches. Interestingly, the ice from the bottom ice maker tastes fine, and our previous ice maker produced fine tasting ice so it isn't the water. The technician said this is a new ice maker and it has teflon parts so maybe that is the reason for the bad taste.

This refrigerator stopped cooling after a year and a half. LG sent a repairman to replace the compressor. Doing a little research, this is a VERY common failure and LG is now subject to a class action lawsuit. Repair failed within 2 days. We are considering small claims court action to offset the cost of a new NON-LG product. Beware!

We bought this in July of 2016. It was a great Refrigerator for the first 3 years. We even bought an extended 3 year warranty. But the refrigerator has now stopped cooling....2 months after the extended warranty expired. We have had to throw all the food away. NOT HAPPY!! Apparently this is a very common problem with the LG fridges with a Linear Compressor and a Class Action Lawsuit has recently been started against LG for this very reason. There is a known defect and the many of the compressors have been failing within 3 years. Even with repairs and replacements they still fail again within 2 years. I would strongly discourage anyone from buying any LG refrigerator with a linear compressor. Refrigerators should NOT fail within only 3 years!!!!!
