LG - gram 2-in-1 16” WQXGA Laptop – Intel Evo Platform Core i7 – 16GB RAM
It appears that LG read my mind and provided me with a lightweight laptop that checks all the boxes on my wish list:
• It’s powered by an 11th generation i7 Intel CPU.
• It has16G of memory.
• It includes a 1TB Solid State Drive (SSD).
• It has a 16” Gorilla Glass Touch Display with a Stylus Pen.
• Thanks to the full magnesium-alloy body, it’s ultra-slim and ultra-lightweight (2.6 pounds) which makes it a perfect travel companion.
• Thanks to its 80wh battery, it has long battery life (up to 22 hours, depending on your settings and use), which means you may not need to carry your charger with you when you leave home for your workday.
• It comes with built-in Alexa.
• Windows 10 Home is installed, and the Windows 11 update is offered at no cost.
• It has a built-in camera for those ever-more-frequent virtual meetings.
• Connection ports include two USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 4 support, a USB-A 3.2 port, a microSD card reader, and a 3.5mm audio jack. While there’s no built-in HDMI port, it does come with an HDMI adapter, in case you want to connect it to an external monitor.
• The keyboard is backlit and includes a numeric keypad and a large touchpad. (More about that later.)
• And finally, there’s a fingerprint reader that's integrated with the power button that reads your fingerprint and logs you into the system automatically. That’s a nice feature that lets you get to work a little bit faster without having to go through the conventional log on routine.
Another nice feature is the additional open internal slot that allows you to add a second SSD when needed. This can eliminate the need for storing files on an external hard disk. And, by adding a second internal SSD, you’d always have your data with you, so you won’t have to remember to bring your external drive along with you when you hit the road. This second internal SSD would also eliminate the possibility of losing your external SSD while you’re on the road.
One of the important features I mentioned (the extreme light weight) may cause concern for some readers, since it brings into question the strength and durability of the magnesium alloy frame. LG notes that this device passed seven tests for military-grade durability, including shock, dust, high or low temperature and more.
The screen is almost mirror-like, sometimes resulting in reflections showing up on the screen, depending on the lighting. Perhaps a matte finish might work better, but then again, the mirror-like screen may be necessary to better utilize one of more of the unit’s features.
While the speakers’ sound is OK, it’s not concert hall quality. Simply adequate would be a better description. But then again, this is a computer workhorse, not a music machine. And, since the speakers are located on the bottom of the unit, some of the sound may seem to be a bit more muted when the unit is sitting on a flat surface, such as your desk, instead of on your lap.
Finding the home keys on the keyboard takes some getting used to. That’s because there’s a numeric keypad on the right side of the keyboard (a nice feature), so the home keys are shifted further left of center, while the trackpad is centered on the entire width. However, once you get used to locating the home keys, typing on the unit is a real pleasure. I’d give this keyboard an A+ rating.
There’s a free downloadable LG app available that allows you to pair your phone to the laptop. It mirrors your phone and allows you to use the laptop to read messages, make calls, etc. Since it uses a Bluetooth connection to utilize this feature, your phone still needs to be nearby for this feature to work.
Finally, it comes with a one-year warranty on parts and labor.
This LG Gram 16” WQXGA 2-in-1 Laptop has an awful lot going for it. In addition to handling my office work, I plan to make this loaded lightweight laptop my on-the-road workhorse. Give it a close look and you may decide to do the same.

Say hello to the grand prix racer of the laptop world.
This LG Gram is super sleek, super light, super powerful and well, pretty darn expensive too. But, hey, entering the world of high-performance PC computing does not come cheap.
And high performance is the name of the game with this 2 in 1 LG Gram convertible , which not only knocks it out of the park when it comes to laptop computing chores, the keyboard flips out of the way so it becomes a huge, fast tablet computer too. Great for streaming video.
Consider the specs here: A top-of-the-line 11th generation Intel i7 CPU, a super-fast 1 terabyte NVMe SSD, 16 gigs of power-sipping LPDDR4 RAM, support for state-of-the-art WiFi 6 networks and Intel's newest EVO Iris X graphics. Add in an amazingly bright and super-sharp 16-inch touch screen, a highly-egonomic backlit keyboard, and a battery rated to run an astonishing 21 hours on a single charge and you have the makings of something pretty amazing.
Did I mention it weighs just over 3 pounds? That makes it light enough to take just about anywhere.
I have been using and writing about personal computers since the 1980s and I have to admit, this is one of the most impressive laptops I have ever seen.
But oddly, it is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Unlike the aforementioned Grand Prix race cars, there are no flashy paint jobs here or fancy design cues that make it obvious this is one of the fastest laptops around. At first glance, it is dull as it gets. Just a big thin slab of flat black plastic and magnesium alloy, featureless from top to bottom. Inside and out. Even the Gram logo on the lid is understated (and probably a bit baffling to many observers since the logo is not exactly famous in the computer world) .
Clearly, the priority at LG was about what's going on inside.
You see that right away when you boot up for the first time. Windows' Cortana now talks you through the setup process. The only keyboard input required is for the name and password for the WiFi network and your email address and password. You get a few options along the way, like whether to set up the fingerprint reader to sign on, begin trials of Office and the like. All pretty painless.
One welcome feature was an option to immediately upgrade to Windows 11, which I have been using for some time and now prefer over Windows 10. The LG Gram still boots to Windows 10 but downloads Windows 11 in background and installs it when it is ready. That process only takes a few minutes, a far cry from the OS updates of the past.
Once that's all done, you are ready to go. Prepare to be impressed. It begins with the 16-inch screen, which is the brighest, sharpest most colorful screen I have ever seen on laptop. It was dazzling to the point I had to crank down the brightness a bit. It's not quite 4K but does support HDR on streaming video for the best contrast. If that were not enough, LG also includes a stylus pen, which you can use without fear since the screen is made of extra tough Gorilla Glass.
The LG Gram also supports DTS X if you are using headphones capable of that or are using bluetooth to dump the sound to a system that supports it. If not, the side firing stereo speakers are quite good for a laptop.
As you might expect, overall speed is very good. Thanks to lots of memory, the NVMe SSD, the i7 processor and full WiFi 6 compliance, the LG Gram races along at a pretty good clip no matter what it is doing.
LG thoughfully includes a LG Control Center app that allows you to fine tune most aspects of the laptop, some of which may not be immediately obvious. Like an instant on option when you flip up the scree and a switch to prevent the battery from charging above 80 percent to extend its life (both of which are disabled by default) Be sure and check it out.
Oh and did I mention this laptop can also function as an Alexa device? But only at your option. It is part of the setup process.
One of my few beefs concerns the keyboard. While I applaud the excellent touch and feel of the keys and the very visible white on black color scheme, backlit or not, I wasn't wild to see a number pad included on the full-sized keyboard. I never use that and would have preferred some dedicated keys to control sound and video. Sadly, LG opted for a comonly used but cumberson function/F-key combinations to control sound and nothing for rewiding or fast forwarding video.
There are a few other caveats worth mentioning, notably a dearth of ports on this laptop. No HDMI. No display port. No ethernet. And just a single full size USB A port, which is partially covered by a fold down door because the laptop is so thin it barely fits into the frame.
Beyond that, there are two smaller USB C ports, one of which is used for recharging the laptop (no pin type connectors here). The other one is actually a Thunderbolt 3 port, which can move data twice as fast as USB C, for video editing and the like. But it but can double as a regular old USB C port if needed.
The lack of ethernet seems to be due to the very slim profile of this laptop. The bottom half, where all the ports reside, is simply too thin to accommdate an ethernet port. But if you really need one, LG sells an adaptor that plugs into one of the USB C ports. Sacrifices must be made to keep a laptop this big, this light.
Still, LG did find room for a headphone jack and a micro SD (not full size SD) slot.
In the end, it would be hard to imagine anyone would not be happy owning this laptop. If you have got the money, this is a great choice for almost anyone.

LG continues to make great products. When you think of LG, most of the time you think of televisions or appliances. Now you can add laptop computers to the mix. This laptop computer is a powerhouse. The specs are almost perfect with the exception of the graphics card. But even though the graphics card is on the lower end it still gets the job done and does not take away from the computer. Lets start with the weight. For a 16 inch laptop this thing is a feather! It is surprisingly very light. No need to worry about weight if you're going to be carrying it around. And it's super slim. Very impressive for a 16 inch. You just can't ask for better battery life. I've went a full afternoon of watching football and worked on assignments without needing to charge. Probably the best battery life I've had on a laptop. I've been running Zoom, Word, Chrome, Powerpoint all at the same time(don't have something as powerful as Adobe or something similar yet) and have had no problems at all. I'm sure I haven't began to touch the included 16gb of ram. I've been working from home a couple of days since I've had it and had to use a vpn. No problems at all. I've upgraded to Windows 11 and it's beautiful. The upgrade went well with no issues from the laptop. I'm in love with the fingerprint reader. No need to keep entering a password when logging on. Just login with the tap of a finger. So easy. I know this may sound crazy but it just feels right. From the material to the pressing of the keys. You can't go wrong with this laptop. It has everything you could possibly need. 1 TB harddrive, 16gb ram, Alexa, etc. It only has one usb port though but buy you a dongle and you'll be ok. The 2 in 1 is very handy when watching shows on tv or movies on Netflix. It's like having a second flatscreen television. (Especially while cooking in the kitchen). There will be no buyer's remorse with this pc. You'll be doing yourself a huge favor. Did I mention this laptop is a beauty?

Through and through I'm a Mac guy in my personal life. Relatively recently I became a Mac guy in my work life as well--and I'm not turning back any time soon. Yes, the hardware is expensive. Yes, you are in some ways paying for the name. But there is no denying the hardware is high quality, the build solid, and the user experience second to none.
That said, Windows computers have been in my life for as long as computers have been in my life, and I can appreciate a good Windows machine just as much as the next guy. I've been a Dell XPS fan for several years now, and right in that same market has been the LG Gram line of laptops. The Gram has been on my radar for a while now, and the 16" LG Gram is a very curious piece of hardware.
16" laptops tend to be...considerable. Big screens, typically big bodies...but the Gram is not like that at all. It's thin, it's light, and it has a big, beautiful screen. It is made from an aluminum-magnesium alloy, making it incredibly easy to carry given its footprint.
The keyboard is interesting. The keys feel great, but there's something about the key travel--whether it be deeper than expected, or the restistance the membrane below the keys provides--which makes the effort of typing just a little bit more than what I'm used to. The keys sound great and have a ton of room to spread out thanks to the large body, but the number pad to the right of the keyboard is a bit crunched for my liking. There is a fingerprint reader on the power key in the upper right corner. The trackpad is large--"Apple-sized" you might say--and extremely responsive. Windows gestures feel natural and smooth. The trackpad also clicks, but that "clickiness" becomes more difficult the further up on the trackpad you are. Sometimes clicking can be a little bit awkward.
And speaking of awkward--this is a full 2-in-1 device with a 360-degree hinge, allowing for use in tablet mode, tent mode, or display mode with the keyboard facing down acting as a counterwight (this is my favorite mode for watching movies). Surprisingly, in tablet mode the 16" Gram is usable thanks to its ultra-light body. LG also includes a stylus with the Gram, and the writing experience with that stylus is really, really great (even if writing on a "tablet" of that size feels a little bit strange). For drawing on a large canvas, it's awesome.
The Gram's onboard speakers are also tremendous considering the extreme low profile of the device. They get sufficiently loud and offer a decent amount of bass, although the speakers are downward-facing so could be easily muffled depending on the surface.
It's rare that I find a device that, as a Mac user primarily, I feel like I'm missing out on...but the 16" Gram is one that makes me wonder how large the market really is for large-screen, ultra-portable devices. The 11th Gen Intel i7, along with 16GB RAM and the 1TB M.2 NVME hard drive make for a really well-equipped and well-thought out platform for Windows.
I could do without the onboard LG bloatware that comes pre-installed from the factory, but I'm used to that from Windows machines. It stays relatively cool tool the touch during light use, but under load the bottom of the machine becomes pretty warm. And, because the bottom panel is so thin, that heat comes through more noticeably. Then again, the thinness of the panel might help with heat dissipation as well.
There are definitely components of the LG Gram experience that I find a bit awkward, but an ultra-light 16" laptop is going to have some weirdness to it. And it's a weirdness that I'm kind of in to.

There's a few things you'll notice about the LG Gram right off the bat when you unbox it. Number 1 being how ridiculously light it is, number 2 is how small the bevel around the screen is.
Coming from a Thinkpad from a few years old, this is a huge leap forward with the battery life actually lasting a full day's use, so I don't have to worry if I happen to forget my charger.
The viewing angles are also great on it, so glare isn't really an issue anymore.
If I had one complaint about the laptop, it would be that the case and screen are prone to being covered in fingerprint smudges, but that might just be a personal problem.
The hinges and keys feel really solid, so I would assume that there was a lot of care put into getting it right. I haven't used the stylus very much yet, but it is nice that it is easy to use and pairs well with the device itself.
Overall I would say this might be even better than a Surface or any other 2 in 1 on the market.

What I noticed first about the LG - gram 2-in-1 16” WQXGA Laptop is it's so light. I thought the box it was delivered in could not have a laptop in it especially a 16 inch one.
This laptop has it all. There are no USB-A ports but there are two USB-C ports, though, and that's good. These ports are much more flexible and much fast and they support the latest Thunderbolt technology so adding more ports is as simple as adding a dock or adapter. There is a USB-C to HDMI adapter included as well. There is no power port since one of the USB-C ports is used for the power adapter when charging. The battery life, though, should keep you from needing to charge very often so both ports would still be available most of the time. The laptop charges quickly and so far the battery life, which is rated up to the 20+ hours, has been really good. There is also no LAN connector on the laptop but with Wi Fi 6 onboard I should not need it. It should be able to do Gig data transfers over Wi Fi as well as handle any internet provider around up to full speed.
This laptop may not be a gamer machine but it's fast. It boots fast, less than 10 seconds and it runs everything without any delays. It also can do some gaming but was not built with that in mind.
The noise level is so low that I cannot hear the fan and it does not heat up while using either.
The screen is basically cinematic 4K (WQXGA) (2560 × 1600) and displays colors extremely well. Images are really vibrant and sharp and brightness has a lot of room when needed.
The hard drive is NVMe solid state so it's fast as well and 1TB is plenty of storage for me and for most since so much is stored in the cloud now.
There is 16GB of RAM included and that is enough for most any work you want to do with the Intel I7 EVO (11th Gen Intel Core i7) next gen processor.
The 2-in-1 feature with the 360 degree foldback hinges moves smoothly and provides for a very large tablet that is lightweight and responsive.
The keyboard is easy to use and large and the trackpad is large as well and works without any issues for me like some. I was surprised, though, that the camera was not compatible with Windows Hello for login. The fingerprint reader integrated into the power button works flawlessly and is compatible with Windows Hello. Some fingerprint readers I've tried are not so forgiving but this one is excellent.
When I set up this laptop, it provided an option to install Windows 11 while it completed the rest of setup which was so nice.
Overall this is a great laptop and extremely pleasant to use.

This is my first LG computer and I am extremely pleased!!For the past two years I have been working remotely, utilizing a 13 inch laptop wired to a couple of large monitors at the house. Now I am back in the office one week out of four and I needed a larger laptop screen as I no longer have an office computer. The LG Gram met all of my needs! Lightweight, thin, big vibrant screen, responsive keyboard (with a number keypad!) and quick start. Yep, it's up and running in a second or two.
This machine is fully configured with two Usb-C ports, a regular Usb, micro card reader and earphone jack. I have added several bluetooth devices at once without any difficulties, attached a portable docking station supporting two large monitors, printer, scanner and external drives, and this LG Gram doesn't skip a beat.
On the tactile side, the keyboard Is definitely my style. Square, island keys whidh move enough to let you know you actually pressed them, but still with a light touch. The touch pad works very well for me, also with the feeling of having clicked without a lot of movement. The case also feels great, with a matte black smooth finish. So, it's not slick, but smooth, having a slight 'grippability' so you can keep hold of it. Finally, the touch screen has a great feel to it, very smooth, very responsive.
Now, I wanted a lightweight laptop with a bigger screen and will tell you that the screen on the LG Gram is vibrant, clear and steady. Adjusting it to the best angle is easy and it folds flat to convert it to a tablet. With an auto-rotate option, this allows you to stand it on its side and use like a tablet.
Overall, I give this laptop my highest marks. I have owned and used dozens of laptops, but this one lets me have a bigger screen without the bigger weight or slow start up times. The versatility and options will allow me to improve my productivity.
Oh, and it has a 1TB ssd drive and 16 RAM, not to mention the marvelous Intel Evo i7 chip. So, it's a workhorse, too!

Used this for the past couple of weeks. Very versatile, comes with a stylus to use So you don't get fingerprints on the screen. Folds a complete 360 degrees so you can use it as a large flat tablet. I personally use it with the keyboard underneath as a stand and with the stylus. I find this very nice on my fold out shelf from my sofa. It is very fast and lots of space to store documents, photos, etc.
Installed all of the office products and I am sizzling through the creation of documents, spreadsheets and presentations. It runs very quiet and isn't real hot when I pick it up for all the processing and information I toss at it.
Definitely a great laptop with a great build quality. Fast boot up and runs amazingly fast.
