When LG announced the Dolby Atmos SoundSuite audio system it immediately caught my attention and how it can seamlessly be connected with my LG C5 65In OLED Tv. I’m currently running the W7 Subwoofer alongside two of the LG M7 speakers while using the Dolby Atmos FlexConnect (DAFC) and I'm honestly shocked at just how good the sound is with this pairing.
This was a huge selling point due to the wireless connectivity and not having to run wires through the walls. The setup process is pretty simple. Once the subwoofer is plugged in and is powered on, you just go into the “Sound Out” audio settings on your TV, scroll over to “Dolby Atmos FlexConnect” and select “Start Setting” press the circle button down on the subwoofer to to put it into paring mode and it will pop up on the TV to be paired alongside with your LG M7 or M5 speakers. Once the speakers and the sub are selected, you can then run the calibration process. After the calibration finishes, everything is synced and ready to go. What makes this technology truly impressive is that the TV automatically analyzes the room and tunes the speakers and subwoofer accordingly, creating a balanced audio environment without needing a receiver or complicated wiring. It’s worth noting that the Dolby Atmos FlexConnect system currently only works on certain supported models, including the 2025 OLED G5, C5, CS5, and QNED 9M, along with the new select 2026 LG models, so compatibility is something to keep in mind when planning on purchasing this without the H7 Soundbar.
I did run into a little speed bump during the setup of the W7 Sub, because I got the M7 speakers first, my initial thought was that I also had to connect the W7 Sub through the LG Connect app before pairing it on the TV. I assumed the subwoofer could be paired and controlled also through the app, but that option is actually only available if you’re using the H7 soundbar (On the product feature page for the W7, it explains this in the very fine print). Since my current setup runs entirely through the C5 TV’s Dolby Atmos FlexConnect system, the subwoofer will not appear in the app. Because I’m going directly through the TV connection you are not able to actually manually adjust the bass levels directly from the TV, which would have been nice to have some control in the TV audio settings for the sub. That being said, I do plan on adding the H7 soundbar later this year, which will unlock that functionality.
One of the things I really like about the W7 is its versatile design and placement options. Unlike most traditional subwoofers that are meant to stand upright beside a TV, the W7 can also be laid flat. It comes with four rubber pads so you can place it horizontally without scratching the surface of the unit or your floor. This allows you to position the W7 in places that typical subwoofers wouldn’t fit, including places like under a couch, which lets the bass resonate directly through the seating area so you can actually feel the rumble during movies or games. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to test this because my couch doesn’t have enough clearance for me to properly test that setup, but it’s still a really cool option for people whose furniture allows it.
When paired with the two M7 speakers, the W7 sub adds a level of depth that makes a noticeable difference in the overall sound experience. The subwoofer uses a powerful 8in driver where LG has teamed up with Peerless, a company with over a century of experience in acoustic design. In use, this translates to deep, full bass that fills the room without overpowering the rest of the audio. Even at lower volumes the system maintains clarity in dialogue while still delivering a strong low end presence. During big action scenes and movie soundtracks, the bass becomes a lot more dynamic, adding that theater style punch that you can feel.
Another selling point I really appreciate about LG’s Sound Suite ecosystem is how modular it is. Instead of forcing you to buy a complete surround system all at once, LG allows you to build it exactly how you want with the path to upgrade over time. You can start with the speakers, add the subwoofer later, and eventually incorporate the soundbar if you want to expand the system even further. To enable Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, you do need at least 1x M7 speaker or 2x M5 speakers, which then allows the TV to coordinate the rest of the system. NOTE: The Sub will not work with only the TV.
Pros
Easy setup through Dolby Atmos FlexConnect
Completely wireless connection over Wi-Fi
Deep, powerful bass from the 8inch woofer
Can be placed vertically or laid flat
Works seamlessly with LG Sound Suite speakers
Modular system that can be expanded over time
Cons
Cannot be controlled through the LG Connect app unless paired with the H7 soundbar
Requires at least one M7 or two M5 speakers to enable FlexConnect On TVs
Dolby Atmos FlexConnect only works with Select LG TVs
Overall, the LG Sound Suite W7 Wireless Subwoofer has been a great addition to my setup. Paired with my LG C5 65in OLED and 2x M7 speakers. The sub delivers deep, impactful bass that adds a lot more immersion to movies, shows, and games. The simplicity of Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, the flexibility of the design, and the ability to expand the system over time make it a really compelling option for anyone invested in LG’s newer audio ecosystem.

I believe in the LG ecosystem because, as someone with extensive experience, it works seamlessly and delivers a stable, smooth performance. The LG Sound Suite W7 subwoofer is no exception, as it perfectly complements the new LG M7 FlexConnect wireless speakers.
Upon unboxing the W7 subwoofer, I was surprised by its size. However, its spaceship-like design gives it a sleek, modern look that blends perfectly with my home setup. The setup process is straightforward and requires minimal effort. It comes with a power cable and an additional placement foot, allowing for flexible positioning either vertically or on its side.
Once I plugged in the power cable, I turned on my LG OLED C5 TV and navigated to the sound settings to change the audio output to Dolby Atmos FlexConnect (DAFC). From there, I grouped my two LG M7 speakers with the W7 subwoofer and proceeded with room sound recalibration. The entire process took about two minutes, and everything was up and running. The setup is clean and completely cable-free, with all components connected wirelessly. This not only simplifies placement but also maintains a minimal, clutter-free look, which is something I truly appreciate.
The W7 subwoofer delivers excellent bass performance. I tested it while watching an F1 movie, and the experience was incredibly immersive. The tire screeches and engine revs sounded immersive, and the spatial audio added a true 360-degree audio experience. I’m truly impressed. The LG Sound Suite FlexConnect system, along with the W7 subwoofer, is a must-have for completing the Dolby Atmos spatial audio experience.
The only drawback is its limited compatibility. Unlike traditional subwoofers I’ve used before, this subwoofer lacks flexibility. The W7 works only with compatible LG devices, such as newer TVs and soundbars that support DAFC.
Overall, my experience with the LG Sound Suite W7 has been excellent. I’m fully invested in LG’s ecosystem and truly appreciate the seamless, cable-free experience it provides.

LG Electronics was founded in 1958 as Goldstar. Today, LG is a global leader in OLED televisions, cutting-edge soundbars & Ai-powered Dolby Atmos sound systems. The latest LG innovation is a sound suite that lets you build your system as your budget and enthusiasm for greater cinematic audio grows.
The LG Sound Suite W7 wireless subwoofer is engineered to interface with either the LG H7 Soundbar with FlexConnect, or one of the latest LG OLED TVs with FlexConnect: G5, C5, CS5, or the QNED9M Mini LED TV. I connected it to my LG 65" G5 OLED TV, in addition to 2) LG M7 Dolby Atmos speakers.
Connection is very easy, using FlexConnect that is built into the LG TV. You simply choose FlexConnect as the audio output path & follow the instructions.
The W7 subwoofer is absolutely amazing! It is a premium quality speaker, as you would expect from LG. Once you hear it, you wonder how you ever enjoyed the cinematic experience without it. The bass is high intensity, yet is precise, accurate & not boomy.
W7 is designed for vertical or horizontal positioning, and even includes 4 suction mounted feet to elevate it above the floor in horizontal applications. This provides an air gap that prevents any annoying rattle from the speaker against the floor during deep bass excursions. W7 measures 16.3"H x 16.1"W x 7.6"D & weighs a hefty 19.4 pounds. A premium Peerless 8" driver produces the impactful hard-hitting bass.
CONCLUSION:
LG W7 Wireless Subwoofer is an essential component to complete the LG Sound Suite with thundering sub-bass impact. It earns my highest recommendation.

Great Sound, Versatile, with Limitations

I finally received the missing piece for my M7 Sound Suite speakers: the W7 sub by LG. This sub is very well constructed, and I love its versatile, modern, and sleek design. It can be used standing upright or lying flat, making it perfect for placement under floating cabinets. I was very excited about the flat placement option for under my cabinet, but unfortunately, it was just half an inch too tall. The sub is about 8 inches tall when laying flat. A neat feature is the four suction feet, which are easy to attach or remove by simply sliding them off.
Setting up the W7 sub was extremely easy, but I had to find out the hard way it only worked with my LG C5 TV. I initially tried using the ThinQ app on my phone, but that didn’t work, even though it is listed in the setup sheet. During TV setup, I paired the sub with my two additional M7 speakers, followed by a quick calibration, and it was ready to go.
While the M7 wireless speakers sound great on their own, this sub was the missing piece. The bass is deep and well-balanced without overpowering the overall sound. I’m very impressed with its performance, and I really like the positioning versatility, the sub can be placed practically anywhere in the room thanks to Dolby Atmos Flex Connect (DAFC) connectivity.
One limitation is that, for it to work wirelessly, it’s not as flexible in usability. If you try to use the speakers and sub without the TV, it won’t work. In other words, the sub cannot operate with the speakers alone for streaming music or in stereo mode. Hopefully, this can be addressed in a future firmware update.
Overall, the W7 sub is a great addition to the M7 Sound Suite. It is well-constructed, sounds excellent, and looks sleek. Its versatile placement options are a big plus. However, to fully take advantage of this sub, you need an LG TV that supports DAFC. If you already own LG Sound Suite-compatible speakers, this sub is the missing piece to complete your setup.
In the box, you get the W7 sub, instruction card, four suction rubber feet, and manuals.

I’ve been using the LG Sound Suite W7 Wireless Subwoofer for a while now, and honestly, it’s one of those pieces of gear that you don't realize you were missing until you actually plug it in. The setup process was surprisingly painless—basically just a "plug and play" situation that synced up with the rest of my Sound Suite system almost instantly. I’m usually skeptical about how "wireless" these things actually are, but the connection has been rock solid without any of those annoying drops or stutters you sometimes get with Bluetooth-heavy setups. It sits tucked away in the corner of my living room, and because the design is so low-profile and sleek, it doesn't look like a giant piece of industrial equipment taking over the floor space.
When it comes to the actual sound, the W7 really punches above its weight. It doesn't just make things louder; it adds a layer of texture to the low end that makes movies and music feel much more immersive. If you’re watching an action flick, you can literally feel the floor vibrate during the heavy scenes, but it’s a controlled, tight bass rather than that muddy, booming sound you get from cheaper subs. Even at lower volumes, it fills out the room nicely, making the overall audio profile feel balanced and "expensive." It’s especially impressive how it handles fast-paced tracks where the bass needs to be quick and responsive rather than just a constant drone.
My only real gripe—and it’s a big one—is how locked down the ecosystem is. It’s frustrating that this unit only works with the LG Sound Suite; you can't just pair it with a third-party soundbar or use it as a standalone piece of gear. For the price, it really should have the flexibility to function as a universal wireless sub for different setups. It feels like a missed opportunity for LG to not allow this to play well with others. That said, if you’re already committed to the LG ecosystem, it’s a total no-brainer that rounds out the soundstage perfectly, but be prepared for that "walled garden" experience.

Completes LG Dolby Atmos FlexConnect Sound Suite

The LG Sound Suite W7 wireless subwoofer was recently released as one very important component of the new LG Sound Suite AI. Life is Good when all components in your entertainment system work in-harmony together. A couple of months ago I had added a pair of LG Sound Suite M7 Wireless Speakers to my LG C5 TV which brought it to life, totally enhancing the built-in sound quality. Despite the great spatial Dolby Atmos sound stage these speakers created, they still did not have anywhere near the bass a proper powered sub-woofer brings to the table, or floor in this case. Here comes the mighty W7 that features an 8-inch woofer that can get as boomy, with deep bass as you’d like. It is a rather large unit at approx. 16.1 x 16.3 x 7.6 inches and nearly 20 lbs of power. But unlike all subs I’ve ever owned, you can also lay it down flat/horizontally. If you have a couch or bench with just under 8 inches of clearance, it could almost act as a transducer and shake your seating arrangement a bit.
This W7 wireless sub-woofer is part of LG’s Dolby Atmos FlexConnect Sound Suite and it will pair with specific LG C5 or newer TVs that have the Sound Suite capability thanks to their Alpha 11 Gen 3 AI processor. Alternatively, you can still build your LG Sound Suite AI with the LG H7 soundbar as the main processor to which all other speakers and the sub will connect to. Connectivity and setup is pretty easy thru either the LG TV Sound Suite menus, or with the LG ThinQ App, if you have the H7 soundbar. I have been using this App for a while, since it also manages my LG washer and dryer. The LG ThinQ App is well developed and allows you to control all features for the M7/M5 speakers, such as volume, tone/equalizer settings, bass boost for the W7 sub, lighting and connectivity methods (Wi-Fi, Dolby DAFC, Bluetooth).
All in all, the LG W7 wireless sub-woofer is a must-have component of any movie or gaming enthusiast and I would highly recommend it, if you have the minimum required LG TV or soundbar.

Sounds great - but no adjustments w/ DAFC TV only

I've been using the LG Sound Suite M7 speakers with my C5 OLED for a few weeks now, anxiously awaiting the W7's arrival this month. In that time, I've really enjoyed the M7 speakers for their sound quality and simplicity of use. They 'just work' far better than my previous setup with a traditional AVR, eARC, and HDMI-CEC though some limitations have been exposed over the last few weeks. Namely, if you're using the Sound Suite speakers directly with an LG TV (like the C5 or G5) without the H7 soundbar, there are absolutely zero adjustments that you can make to the sound profile from the user's perspective. While the space I'm using these speakers in doesn't require any such adjustment to be clearly superior to the TV's speakers, I could definitely see in other environments where the lack of sound modes or EQ could be a real problem. That lack of adjustment is could be even more of a problem with the W7 subwoofer for many people, though in my space I'm again fortunate that it is "usable" out of the box.
#Unboxing and first impressions#
Like the other Sound Suite speakers I've used, LG has done a great job with well-designed packaging. Getting the W7 out of the box was a simple affair thanks to the thoughtful bag design and cardboard packing. There are no adjustments or buttons available on the speaker, you just plug it in, so there's not much to do for physical installation. The speaker is a smooth matte finish with a synthetic clothe grille over the front, with the large port on the rear. LG also includes feet if you want to lay it on its largest side, so you have several options for fitting the W7 into your space.
#Using the W7#
There was a little frustration getting the W7 set up. The instruction card in the box clearly states that you are supposed to set it up in the LG ThinQ app first, but after about 15 minutes of trying various options such as power cycling the sub, restarting my network, and checking the app on multiple devices, I eventually went searching on the internet to find that you actually can't use the LG ThinQ app for the subwoofer unless you already have the H7 subwoofer. For me, with my M7s paired directly to my C5 TV, I am only able to set up the W7 through the TV itself. This was a big oversight on LG's part from a user experience standpoint, also lessens the utility of the W7 subwoofer somewhat since you can't use it for casting audio directly to an M7 or M5 setup and instead have to only cast audio to the TV first. I already knew that the M7s work better when running through the TV vs casting direct, but it would have been nice to have the option. I also found that you can't use ONLY the W7 with the TV - you must have other DAFC speakers connected in order to get the benefit of this subwoofer. So if you're just looking to add a little bass to your TV's speakers, you'll need to look for an Auracast sub. I feel like LG should have included Auracast compatibility in the subwoofer if not in the entire Sound Suite lineup.
Once connected to the TV and calibrating through the Dolby Audio FlexConnect menus, I found the W7 to be a perfect compliment to the speakers in my living room setup. The bass is just right in my space, though a bit boomy when watching movies at higher volume. This is where the lack of adjustments really penalize the W7 - if you're in a space where you want to add some bass but want to keep it at a very low level, you will not be able to adjust the W7's volume individually at all. There's just no EQ or "night mode" or any other adjustability possible with the DAFC set up direct to the TV right now. I've read that if you instead set this up with the H7 soundbar you can get this kind of control, but the soundbar is a pretty huge extra expense and otherwise unnecessary for my living room.
#Final thoughts#
For early adopters, we just have to hope that LG pushes out updates to allow users with only a DAFC TV to be able to adjust the sound settings when using the Sound Suite speakers and subwoofer. If you're in the sweet spot where these speakers will work without any extra tweaking (and if you find you like the sound profile without adjusting anything) then the W7 is a great subwoofer out of the box. But I predict this product might end up with a high return rate for those without an H7 and who find it too loud or too quiet with the default sound profile.
Hopefully LG will offer the ability to adjust these things through the TV interface or through the ThinQ app in the near future.
