    Great hardware, bad support

There is not much I can add about the hardware. You can find detailed reviews on many websites. It is a well rounded smartphone and I got it on the release day for about $750 unlocked. It would be a fair price if LG actually provided software updates for it, that is. Half a year later I am not expecting any updates to arrive any time soon. As of writing of this review (mid April 2019) my phone is running Android 8.1.0 with January 2019 security updates. For reference my company issued Galaxy S7 (a phone that was released 3 years ago in March of 2016) is running Android 8.0 with March 2019 security updates. LG is notorious when it comes to broken promises and lack of support. What upsets me even more is they are already working on the V50. So they are dedicating resources to the next model while they haven't even delivered a promised Android 9.0 update to the V40. If I knew this I would have never purchased this phone, even with the free 256GB memory card and 2 years of warranty (if you register your phone with LG) . BTW that free card promo has expired. AFAIK.

I have been recommending this phone for awhile now. The fact that it is usually around $300-400 lately makes it an easy phone to go with. I really like the three cameras on the back and appreciate having a headphone jack for sure. If you can find this for a good deal then by all means pick one up!

It took me a long time to decide what phone I was going to purchase and am happy I choose this one. I had an LG prior and thought about switching because of price and the things I needed for rural reception. I have not been disappointed with reception in rural areas with phone calls or internet. Also, Best Buy offered the best deal.

I got this phone so my dad could take over my LG G7. Very similar but definitely an upgrade. Bigger and better screen, 6gb of ram compared to 4, and better camera (adds the telephoto on the rear and wide angle on the front). Also this phone is better than the Samsung Galaxy S10e and $200 cheaper.

This underdog phone is great for me. Got it a couple of weeks ago, and it has been a delight to have. If you are in the camera thing than this phone won't disappoint. Anyway get this phone if you are looking to replacement at a great price.

Currently using this phone. Got it on some crazy sale here on best buy. Great buy, great product. So far so good. Love the camera features and the hifi sound coming out of the headphone jack.

I've only used Nexus and Pixel Phones for the past several years - even ordered, then RETURNED the Pixel 4XL - I just was let down - it didn't live up to the hype. The LG V Series has one very standout feature if you don't mind WIRED headphones - a relatively high quality Quad DAC. Every mobile device, portable music player and CD/DVD players utilize a digital to analog converter. The chipset used in the V Series is 10X the quality in most phones. The bottom line...the sound is AMAZING! The latest update brings the feature set on-par with LG's other top phones.

Probably one of the best phones I've ever owned. Definitely one of the best phones I've ever owned. Would only be better if it had more memory and it was 5G capable.

I'm upgrading from the LG V20 so I'm familiar with the quality of LG products. This phone is quicker, has better battery life, and still has the awesome photo/video/music features that I love. If I didn't stumble on this phone at such a good savings, I would still be enjoying my V20. I gave that phone to my wife. I really like LG phones.

I bought this phone outright when Best Buy was clearing it out for the V60. I've had an iPhone for years as my work and primary cell, but I have an old Windows phone (which still works, by the way!) and I thought I'd try an Android phone as an upgrade. I liked that this phone had a storage card slot and it had good reviews regarding the audio options. I'm not a cell phone expert - I tend to hold onto phones until they turn into dust, see above reference to a Windows phone - but for the price I paid (under $300), I think the V40 is good, though admittedly I haven't used it much other than listening to podcasts with a bluetooth speaker.

When I first got this phone I was very ehh about it. I'm not a big fan of LGs past phones. After using it for a week I love this phone. It has an excellent camera and battery life is fantastic! I get about a day an a quarters use from it. I work 12 hour days and I usually go to bed with somewhere around 35-40%. I love the comfort view I can make it black and white to completely eliminate the blue light. I haven't had any issues with it bogging down and stuttering. I have a N64 emulator and it runs no problem. HIGHLY RECOMEND!

This is my forth android phone. I retired a Sony, that still works ok. Prior phones were Samsungs. Two i tried to kill and couldn't (replaceable batteries!). The note 4 great... Until it died. I like a quality phone, not a new release. I want good price, under $400, and this fits the bill. The screen is excellent. LG skins the OS nicely. Camera(s) and Audio are high end too! Wireless charging is nice because i use a lot of battery on work days. Its nice to just set down to charge. The Sony had 3gb ram moving to 6gb made a huge difference in performance.

Favorite phone, works great. Beautiful and crisp screen, you can choose to have the notch or full screen. I rather the full screen and shows videos in HD. The memory storage is perfect and you can add more with a micro sd card. It takes great photos outdoor during the day and indoor if the lightening is right. The taking videos outdoor is AMAZING! The quality match a canon camera when taking videos, which only if its sunny and right lighting. Very High Def!

Unlocked version has no bloat ware and is fast. Only thing is on AT&T network, no enhanced HD services. This means no WiFi calling or texts, no advanced text messaging, and no video calls, beware.

A flagship smartphone for the Price of a mid-range. Great hardware, but the software is a bit archaic. Only available in black, but back finish also reflects light with a unique blue tint. Don't let the notch deter you.
