Water Resistant, Good Sound & Long Battery Life

In a lush (overflowing) bluetooth speaker landscape, it would be difficult to find something unique about the LG PK3 IPX7. What it has going for it at a sub-hundred dollar price point is LG quality, excellent water resistence, long battery life and good sound quality. In that order... Yes, I find the sound quality decent and acceptable for what I use it for. LG uses really good quality components, and build quality is excellent. I've bought other brands of speakers in the past that didn't survive long. While it's still early in my ownership of the PK3, I have no doubt it will last a very long time. Which is why I own it, it's realiable, it doesn't weigh much, it pushes out a good amount of sound volume, it'll handle being dropped in water, it's weather resistent, and the battery life is unbelievable. I love that if I get it dirty, if I get sand in it - I can rinse it off in the kitchen sink! I haven't used the built-in speakerphone, since that's not what I got it for. I'm sure it works just fine. I do have a couple of gripes though... LG used a Type-C USB connector for the power source. Meaning that the dozens of commonly used Micro-B cables I have laying around are incompatible. Ugh... That means if I lose it, or damage it I'll not be able to recharge it until I obtain a replacement Type-C cable. Not a huge deal, but why use a Type-C? There's got to be a reason... Right? The other gripe is also kind of a compliment - depending on your situation. LG does not provide a power adapter with the speaker. Yup, you get a Type-C power cable but nothing to connect it into. Now for me, I'm fine with it since I have about 50 of the things kicking around the house. So I'm fine! But... There might be someone who needs one. Minor gripe, it probably shaved twenty five cents off LG's BoM. On the bright side it's less waste in the long run, and keeps the landfills a little less full. Overall I give the LG PK3 IPX7 a solid BUY IT! Try it, you'll like it!

Big sound from a little speaker!

I've used other waterproof/bluetooth speakers before, but this one is significantly louder! No problem rocking out the entire pool with this small waterproof speaker.
It has an enhanced bass option, but for most of the music I played through it I actually thought it sounded better with that option turned off.
It also responds to Siri commands and you can have 2 separate devices paired to it so you don't have to re-pair it all the time if you switch between 2 phones or say a phone and an iPad. (note the Siri command option doesn't work when you have 2 devices paired.) It's like most bluetooth speakers though where pairing a new phone/device just takes a few seconds so I've just been keeping 1 phone paired so I could use Siri as well to change songs, etc. remotely.

I'm new to the name Meridian Audio. I had faith that an LG product would not disappoint. I was right!
Easy Bluetooth pairing with selectable deep bass from a small portable speaker.
Here is what I found great:
1. CLEAR AUDIO WITH SELECTABLE BASS ATTENUATION
2. NEW C-CONNECTOR ON THE WORKING END OF THE INCLUDED USB CHARGING CORD
3. RECHARGEABLE AND LONG LASTING PLAY PERFORMANCE
4. CLEAR EASY TO READ, EASY TO USE TOP OF THE UNIT BUTTONS
5.SLOT FOR A LANYARD IF YOU WANT TO HANG OR CARRY FROM YOUR WRIST ( POSSIBLY GOOD TO ACT AS A SAFETY STRAP WHEN YOU RIDE OR WORK AROUND THE HOUSE)
6. WATER RESISTANT

Big Sound in a Small and Rugged Box

I’ve looked at many Bluetooth speakers and I have alwyas been disappointed in the feel and durability of most. This is not the case with this amazing wireless speaker. It is very solid metal with mesh and I have no problem with throwing it into my backpack for travel and hikes.
I currently have a PC with no external speakers and my first pairing of this unit was with the PC. It performed flawlessly and provided a great source of gaming sounds and streaming music. I then paired it with my ipad for some Youtube and Netflix use. The side mounted bass speakers really shine here for depth of range. My next pairing was with my iphone for music playback. Regardless of which equilizer settings I selected from the iphone, this compact unit performed well with a significant range of highs, midrange for vocals/pop, and lower bass for rock and jazz. The enhanced bass is a nice addition as well.
My only minor displeasure with this unit is that I had to get a flat head screwdriver in order to flip open the connector access panel for recharging. I’m sure this will loosen up after a bit of use and will allow fingernail pressure in the future. I’m so pleased with the sound and rugged aspects of this unit that this minor issue was not enough to knock a star off for the review.
Another big plus with this device is how easy it is to pair. It not only supports pairing with multiple devices, but the top Bluetooth button makes it very easy to set up pairing with a new device. The volume and next/back buttons provide easy control of song playing as well.
The PK3 with Meridian technology for sound is by far, one of the best portable speakers I’ve come across in a long time. The water resistant, durable structure makes this the perfect device for travel and portable presentations. The sound is big enough to fill a fairly good size room with a lot of people. The weight is significant, but the durability makes it worth the extra backpack space.
Overall, I’m very pleased with this speaker unit and it has become my default go-to speakers for travel.

Great Speaker for a Small Home

Out of the box, my initial impressions were cool, sleek and more durable than I thought it’d be. It has some decent weight for a small speaker, leading me to believe it’s made well.
Connecting from my phone to the Bluetooth was extremely quick and painless. In a matter of seconds I was streaming music from my smartphone. I played with a few features and was pleased to hear how loud it can get. For a small device, it has clean and crisp sound. I placed the speaker in my living room and was pleased with the range of my wireless connection and how the sound projected. I plan on using this speaker for when I do chores or other work around the house. I’m very pleased that I found a speaker that’ll be perfect for this task. It has an enhanced bass option, but I didn’t notice a difference when it was on.
Located on the back of the speakers is a port where you can charge the speaker. It was unnecessarily difficult to open. I had to get a mailbox key to pry it open.
There are better speakers out there, but I feel at this price it’s an excellent option. If you’re looking to buy a speaker and quickly connect it to a smart device for clear audio, then this is a great option.

Portable and crisp - mediocre speakerphone

The portability, waterproof rating and speakerphone features attracted me to the LG PK-3 speaker. Very easy pairing and support for multi-phone pairing and the Meridian Audio features also adorn the unit.
There is definitely a difference when using the Enhanced Bass feature - so I'll be leaving it on all of the time. I've let it run for 10 hours straight at about 60% volume and it was still going strong - so I tend to believe the 12 hour battery life claim.
When testing the speakerphone function, the person I called sounded very good but unfortunately the little mic on this unit offered dismal performance unless I picked the speaker up and talked directly into the mic hole. This is mainly the reason for my 3-star rating.

High Hopes, but just Average

I've had great luck with LG products in the past, so I had high hopes for the new PK3 speaker. Between working in the yard, taking kids to the beach and pool, we need a bluetooth speaker that's water proof and mostly kid proof. We took the PK3 out for a spin and while we weren't overwhelmed or underwhelmed, we were just OK.
The design of the speaker is nice and compact, which is nice. It's nowhere near as big and bulky as the PK5 or PK7 - which almost remind me old school 80's cassette boom boxes with their handle design. However, the there are some compromises with the design of the PK3.
For starters, the back panel that covers the Aux-in and USB-C charging port is super tight - I mean like break-a-nail tight. I ended up having to use my car keys to gently pry it open. I get that the speaker is water proof and such, but I've used other water proof speakers in the past that haven't had this issue. IT's nice when it gets wet, to know that the ports are protected, but when you need to charge it or connect an Aux-in, have some keys or a nail file or something ready.
LG made a big deal of "Meridian Technology" in the marketing and packaging. At low / standard volumes though, the bass-boost option left the sound feeling anemic, light, like bass boost was somehow treble boost instead. I got better bass by turning it odd at lower volumes. When I crank it up, the bass boost is more noticeable, but it's never fully realized. There's other waterproof bluetooth speakers on the market that have a more fully realized sound.
Usually I gripe when accessories require companion Apps - however, I was actually disappointed to see that the PK3 didn't have one. I was expecting some way to control the equalizer or something, but nothing - you're left managing the sound through whatever device you've paired it with.
From a button panel aspect, the PK3 has some nice touches - traditional playback options are there, but it also has a microphone option that enables you to active Siri on your iPhone or take a phone call.
If you're in the market for a basic bluetooth speaker, then the PK3 might be what you're looking for. If you want something that has more customization or control options - then you'll need to look at a higher end unit. If you can get this unit on sale, I say go for it. If it's not on sale, then I'd say save your dollars.

For being a relatively small speaker, this unit has some absolutely punchy sound. Easily fills an entire room, and sounds good across genres (hip-hop/chillhop/lofi, metal, electronic, jazz, and even some vocal pop) without really requiring any major adjustment. Battery life is pretty solid for the size. Would have liked to see a longer charging cable, but otherwise it's an excellent value.

Our bluetoother speaker at our small retail store lost the ability to charge and thus the ability to stay on. With a budget of $100 I did a lot of research on YouTube. While other speakers have more bass output at the sacrifice of clarity. Doing my research on the PK3 I liked the tuning by Meridian Sound. It is a very clear speaker for vocals and intruments sound great on it. We put it against a wall and the bass is improved due to boundary effect. Its very pleasant sounding and keeps the day flowing with music.
I tested this outdoor and its for background music only. Still maintains pristine clarity at maximum volume but has no oompf! The JBL Partybox is what you need for outdoors.

I bought this for when we go up north. It is supposed to be water proof so we can bring to the beach as well. My daughter has several bluetooth speakers and this quickly became her favorite. Easy to pair and sound quality is better than all the other ones she has. Quality bass too. Love Best Buy sales too. Got a good deal.

This speaker sounds very good for its size. I have owned many small speakers and this one ranks up near the top because of the crisp sound. Perfect for on the go and travel. If I could get get a little more low end from this speaker it would be a 5 star must buy. Give it a shot, you will be surprised.
