In the tradition of great HD nature documentary series like "Planet Earth" and "Blue Planet" is "Life." Until a 4K UHD version is possibly released, this remains the best way to view the wonderful series in all its glory. Enjoy!

'Life' kept me and the rest of the family captivated often in awe for the four days we spent watching the series, limiting ourselves to one disc per evening to allow ourselves sufficient time to talk about what we were watching and to go back from time to time and replay some of the more stunning takes. I'm not going to say what 'Life' is about because it's not a story. The series was produced by a number of BBC crews who went all over the world to capture so that they could show the rest of us some of the more extreme, more beautiful, more striking and lesser known ways life forms on our Earth act in order to survive as individuals or as species, raise and take care of their offspring, hunt for prey, hide from predators, fight and sometimes cooperate in order to stay alive.

The ultimate reference for hifi biology/evolution

This IS my reference documentary for all biology and evolution. Couple this with the Blue Planet and Planet Earth documentaries, and you are COVERED with everything except outter space (astronomy documentaries elsewhere). It presents some of the coolest, most dangerous to capture ever camera shots in amazing 1080p. If you have a regular small TV or a giant setup like me with Marantz receivers and 7.1 Axiom speakers you won't be let down. The DTS Hi Res track is to my audiophile ears, indistinguishable from the lossless DTS HD MA. The entire gamut of animals is covered too, with none of the boring African Safari ONLY animals countless of other documentaries covered. Whether you're a Biology major like me or just a neophyte and curious about animals, this IS the piece for you. Oh, and David Attenborough''s narration is dead on, his voice is calming and clear like a Morgan Freeman...the perfect British compliment for this educational video. All in all 5/5 presentation, and I am picky when it comes to my blu ray reviews. Best purchase of the year from BestBuy for this price!

A visually stunning nature series on blu-ray.

A visually stunning nature series by the BBC focusing on all the different lifeforms that survive on the planet Earth. An amazing set to own on blu-ray. Each episode focuses on different forms of life. Plants, Deep Sea life, Insects, Reptiles, Amphibians, Mammals, etc. The whole set is worth it for the Plants episode alone. After the ending of each episode is a segment on how the episode was created and how the lifeforms were filmed. Amazing and beautiful. Perfect narration by David Attenborough. Illuminates many organisms you may have never even seen in any other nature documentary. The variety of life that lives on Earth right now at this moment will astound.

Excellent Programming, Great Clarity; one caveat

1st, the positives: • This set of BluRays have stunning visuals, from the first disc to the last. • The amount of information does not overwhelm, but does constantly flow, makes the learning enjoyable, without boredom. • Its a set of discs that we'll watch over and over again. • Each episode has a sub-episode that explains HOW THEY SHOT IT. It is as fascinating and educational as the main episodes Now, for my one caveat: • This has nothing to do with the quality of the programming or the discs themselves, but with the spoken narration. When I see David Attenborough's name, I know what he is going to say, and I'm ALWAYS disappointed to hear him say it. Phrases like, "approximately 65 million years ago..." or such and such beast, "has evolved the ability to..." do this or that. Nonsense. Everything is going along fine: great instruction, camera work, the science of what is occurring, and then blips like that foolishness are irritating. Nevertheless, based on all the positive points, I really like the series, and would recommend watching.

Off the heels of the incredible Planet Earth is another BBC classic "Life"... narrated by David Attenborough. Words cannot describe the crisp blu-ray HD details and the truly admirable production values involved in such an enormous project to gather all this footage and edit it together. If you liked Planet Earth, you will love this one!

If you enjoyed Planet Earth, then this is a definite buy. Same great cinematography and quality. About ten hours between the four discs. On disc one, I didn't enjoy the segment with the buffalo that was poisoned by the Komodo Dragons, but other than that it's been a great watch and is an amazing collection.

I remain absolutely astonished at the crisp picture quality compounded with David Attenborough’s narration. I already had two copies of the American version(narrated by Oprah), but the U.K. Version is definitely the superior feature. This one of the best explorations of nature one can display on a television screen.

BBC Life is an excellent nature documentary presented and narrated by Sir David Attenborough. His charisma is so great that even someone who doesn't likes documentary, will also watch the entire series at a stretch. The cinematography is excellent and the locations were well selected.

I own most of the BBC Life docs hosted by Sir David Attenborough, and this is one of my favorites. The cinematography is unbelievable, and the colors in bluray are just jaw-dropping. Got a great deal on this set ($19.99), and I seriously suggest picking it up.

Life is as intriguing and entertaining as Planet Earth, with a focus on some of the more interesting life forms on Earth. The picture quality is improved over the once impressive Planet Earth bluray transfer, and this version has David Attenborough return to narrate, rather than Oprah Winfrey.

The show in its' cinematography is wonderful. I envision the time spent to get these incredible shots. And David Attenbourgh as the narrator is wonderful. His voice and inflections add so much to the on screen images. Easily watchable time and time again. Worthy of the price paid. Educational and informative.

My girlfriend likes to fall asleep to the sound of David Attenborough's voice. I don't know why. I guess she finds it relaxing. This is an awesome blu-ray set that can usually be found at a more than reasonable price. Looks fantastic in HD. Crisp, clean picture. Highly recommend this set!

I purchased this for the car for my kids in long rides. I forgot i don't have blue ray in the car. But, it made for a nice Friday Night movie night for 4 weeks. Great series that educates adults and children alike. Reminds us of the importance of the ecosystem to all things living.

This BBC science documentary is narrated by David Attenborough. It makes life science fascinating and the HD quality is stunning. Although I have not seen the version narrated by Oprah Winfrey, I have read many reviews saying that the Attenborough version is superior.

This is a great nature documentary involving 150 shoots on all seven continents and all scenes are filmed in HD. I really like the making of features after the chapter stories which show you exactly what it took and how they filmed different scenes you just watched.
