This bulbs does not require a hub or base station to work. The WI-FI function is incorporated inside the bulb. Got mine on sale for $59.99. The original price is about $100 which is expensive, in my opinion.

I would probably recommend the Phillips Hue product, over these. Or wait a few months to see if they update their user program and allow for added functionality. The colors and range are wonderful, but they do nothing more than turn on and off. Timing, scheduling, programming through the user program will be better supported by Phillips Hue (larger company) If they add that to these (no guarantee), these could be a better product.

This light is a great light. Works as described and is exactly what I was looking for. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is if power goes out and comes back on....the light cones on.

This is an amazing light bulb, however the software engineers need to work a little more on the android app as there is a lot of potential here. First the creation of zones, I have 2 bulbs in one room and a 3rd bulb in another. I plan on adding more bulbs throughout my home and the creation of zones would help instead of having to change individual bulbs or "all" at the same time. Timers/schedules would also be nice, to be able to have the app control timed events, auto dimming into a night light at night time, etc..

This product is fantastic. Very easy to use to set up. My only thing is that it is very cumbersome and won't fit in most ceiling lamps

I didn't know a lightbulb could be exciting, but this one is amazing! The app is easy and works great, and the colors are brilliant.

Bought on a whim. Turns out it's really cool. Connects to your wifi in seconds. Different colors really can change your mood.

This is a beautiful bulb and has great features. The colors are vivid and easily controlled by app on my iOS device. However, I cannot give a 5 star rating because you cannot control bulb when outside the local wifi network. I use a dropcam and would like to be able to turn the bulb on remotely if the camera alerts me to any activity. An upgrade via the cloud is supposed to be coming to allow this, however, at this point there are other bulbs that you can purchase which are truly remote (don't have to be on same wifi network to operate from app). Those bulbs aren't as dynamic as this one but, again, today you should be able to control a bulb like this from anywhere in the world.

It's a great device and easy to install and use. I only wish the app was a little more well designed. I.e. more in app options and customization.

The kids love changing the color. I like to dim it when they are watching movies or to just a a little light in the room. Easy app, easy to use.

Works great. Even when I AM deep in the oilfield I can operate my lights with ease. Much better than similarlights that require a hub.

When LIFX bulbs first came out they were missing many of the promised features. Now LIFX has managed to pack a lot of power and features into these awesome smart bulbs. The best feature is scheduling the lights so they automatically turn on and off around your daily routine! And being LEDs they consume very little! A great purchase.

Love the bulb. Setup was easy, and the app does all I need. However, I think I'll stick to the white version.

I have a dozen of these and twice as many Philips Hue bulbs and these blow Philips Hue out of the water. Hue can't even produce a true green but Lifx can in any shade you prefer! They are on sale for $40 a lot of the times so grab them when you see them!

When I first saw this bulb coming out I thought it was an awesome idea however I wasn't able to justify the price. I finally broke down and purchased one when I saw it on sale and absolutely love it. When I can set aside the money I'll definitely be picking up more for the rest of the house. First initial setup was suppose to be "easy". However, it kept giving me some issues sending the wifi information to the bulb and then magically it was working even though it said "failed". When I tried creating and setting up my account it wouldn't let me create a password with the link saying that it was already expired even though it just sent it to me. After a couple of tries I was able to create my account and the bulb was listed. Other than those two things it didn't take long to have it up and running. The amount of flexibility for a light bulb is really nice. The ability to turn on and off at certain times, blink when getting notifications, connectivity with nest equipment, and so on. I opted for the color bulb mainly because of the light for sleeping and waking up which so far I really like.

I had high hopes for these LIFX bulbs but the reality falls short. Most of the functionality advertised is not available yet. It's all going to be available in the future through app updates, but WHEN? For the price (expensive) I would expect a complete product. For now all that's possible is on/off, dimmer and colors. Not at all worth the money.

These truly have more value the more bulbs they replace. I had just 1 for awhile and enjoyed the novelty of it; but once I replaced more bulbs, the convenience and practicality really became apparent. The schedules and integrations with IFTTT create a really smooth, futuristic experience and the software is regularly being updated

When it works it's a really cool bulb to have but for me it hasn't worked very good at all, it constantly keeps losing the signal and I can't control it from the app on my phone. When I reset the bulb it doesn't see my wifi network and I'm unable to link to it and turn the bulb on or off. This is the second bulb that I purchased and it has happened to me again and it has been very frustrating, I would not recommend this bulb. btw I have a super fast wifi network with cable company and all my other wifi devices work well on my wifi network so I know it's not my wifi connection.
