The Best "Bang for the Buck"

Is this the best 5-port (or 4-port, depending on how you consider things) switch available? Probably not. Is this the cheapest switch available? Again, probably not. Is this the best switch available, for the lowest price possible? Probably so. In truth, the only reason I purchased a switch...any switch...was so that I could connect my TV, AV receiver, Blu-Ray player, & Logitech Harmony Home Hub to my network. My router (ASUS RT-AC68P, which I HIGHLY recommend) has four ports, and needing one for my printer, one for my network drive, and wanting to keep one available (in case of needing to physically connect a computer for troubleshooting), that only left one remaining port, albeit with four remaining devices to connect. This, obviously, requires the use of a switch, and, considering how much I'd been spending on other items, I couldn't afford to spend a lot of money on a "higher-end" switch, I opted to find the least expensive, but-still-higher-quality, switch I could find...and the Linksys SE1500 is that switch. While it doesn't offer Gigabit connections, I was certain I didn't need them, as the TV & Blu-Ray player, even in watching an HD movie, wouldn't require anything higher than 100Mbps (besides, paying for a 50Mbps service, and actually receiving 70-90Mbps, the 100Mbps ability of the switch already exceeds that which I'm receiving). In short, the Linksys SE1500 doesn't just meet my needs...it exceeds them. With a $19.99 price (regularly on sale for $9.99-14.00), it's just as good, if not better, than all but a few of the other 5-port switches, for less money (the great majority of the other models are in the $20-50 range).

Price of this unit compared to functionality is on point. This is just a basic switch which can be used to extend an Ethernet hard line to multiple devices. Works right out of the box and no issues with setup. The packaging and directions are very good in quality.

Note this is not a $300 netgear nighthawk, and you shouldn't expect range and speed of that product. But for the price it is, it offers great speed, AC, but the farther you move away it drops quick as do all. For a normal medium sized house this will have good speeds and range especially for N, AC drops pretty quick. Have it hooked up to my NAS through gigabyte cable and speeds are great.

It was really simple to set up and use. Just take out of the box, plug it into an outlet, attach cat5 cables and you're done. It's been working great with no problems for several months now. It really helped with expanding my internet connections. I needed an extra line for my new TV. I don't care for wifi. I needed an extra hard-wire to the internet.

Picked up for my parents who built a house that was fully networked. Ran out of ports. Needed a couple extra ports for a cell phone booster and phone line that they decided to have hooked up even though it wasnt going to be used. Plugged in to the main network switch and worked instantly haven't had any problems since.

it is a small unit, but so simple to use and install. simply plug it in to outlet, plug the wires in and it works instantly. we run 7 of these in out offices to connect printers and computers and have had no concerns. we keep an extra on hand just incase one goes bad but in 3 years we have not had to replace any yet.

I needed a switch to expand the capabilities of my network connected home theater. This one unpacked and came up working within a couple of minutes. I know a switch is one of the simplest components you can get, but it gets a high rating becauase it did just what I needed it to and expected it to.

No problems thus far. I'm not a big fan of Linksys since Belkin bought it from Cisco, but this switch *seems* to perform well for the simple tasks that I need it to do (multiple devices sharing a single connection, home lab testing). It was on clearance when I bought it, so I took a chance.

My new Mac needed more USB 3.0 Ports, and this hub does that job very nicely. It is easy to set up, compact yet easy to insert USB cords and drives into...it would be hard to do without this additional set of ports.

Caught this switch on sale for $10 and couldn't resist. I wanted to add this to my home network (FIOS) to increase the number of available ethernet ports. Plug & Play simplicity. Worked great with my existing ActionTek router. Was able to double my ports for $10.

We have three of these in our law office. Each work area only has one Ethernet wall port, and we have several pieces of equipment running on ethernet, so we needed this to split them all and allow all to be plugged into one wall port. Works with no issues.

If you use a powerline adapter, you can use this to add 4 additional ports to your remote location - TV, Internet Streaming Device, Game console, and a router if you choose. No setup, high speed throughput and have not needed to reboot in months.
