This adapter plugs into any USB port on the computer and took over all wifi processes with hardly any installation clicks required. Went from a 25 mbps reception speed to over 80 mbps (at the computer) from a 100 mbps signal originating at the modem one floor higher and the whole width of the house over.

This one did not have quite as good a performance of the Netgear adapter. It is also awkwardly large and will only work with horizontal USB slots and will block one of them if they are side by side.
