Finding the optimal spot where the extender has good signal for throughout vs causing interference to the existing wifi is a losing battle. Watching any kind of streaming is futile. Spend your money on a stronger source.

As long as it is positioned correctly, the range extender should be enough to extend your network. To reduce wireless interference, you can set a static wireless channel on your main router.
