Not sure it works.......

Posted .Hi, Richard,
Thank you for the feedback. If you've successfully set up your Linksys RE6700, then it should be working on your network. But to make sure that you've utilized its range, we recommend that you place it midway the router and to where you needed the signal. Properly positioning its antennas will also improve its coverage. Posted .Hi,
We value the experience that you've shared with us through this review. Setting up this router is easy and we'll help you make it work so you can take advantage of its features. What's the make and model number of the router? How far would like to position the range extender from the router? If this has something to do with connecting it to the router, then some wireless interference is possibly causing this challenge. You can set the router's wireless channel to static and reconnect the range extender.

Very easy to set up wifi extender network
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me first say that I received this wifi extender, Linksys AC1200 Amplify, free from Linksys in return for my honest feedback. I followed the directions closely and had no problems setting up the device and connecting it to my home network. The entire process only took a couple of minutes. However, I did have a problem when I tried to log onto the extended network. I received an error message that the company supplied password, "admin". was not valid. I tried several times, but each time received the same error message. The included Quick Start Guide suggested moving the extender closer to the router, which I did and which still resulted in the same error message. The online manual suggested I reset the unit by using a paperclip to hold in the reset button for 10 seconds. I tried this twice and twice was unsuccessful in my attempt to reset the unit. I tried one more time to connect and was successful, but without using any password. When I queried the network it said the password was changed to my home network password automatically. Looking past my logon problems, the unit was able to extend my network from just my basement to most of my first floor, which is a decent accomplishment. Summary: This unit's quick start guide needs to be expanded to include solutions to the admin password problem that I encountered. But besides for that issue, it was easy to set up and just about doubled my wifi range.

Never worked
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first one I bought worked somewhat for a week. Had the green light on and then it went away. Was consistently amber or red. Exchanged it for a second one thinking maybe something was wrong with that one and the new one never got the green light -- only amber. Talked with technical support for 30 minutes reinstalling, etc. with no luck. Setting it up was a breeze. It just didn't work. I then exchanged it for the Netgear AC1200. This is the one to get. Same ease of set up, same price and it works amazingly well. Signal was boosted to full bars where I previously only had one or kept dropping the signal. Love the Netgear. Hated the Linksys.

Doubled my range (with a few hiccups)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Disclaimer - I received this as a free sample from Linksys in exchange for my honest feedback. The Linksys RE6700 range extender worked well for me over the past couple weeks that I've been using it. The setup was very simple and straight-forward. The web user interface is clean and works great. I setup the extender close to an area in my home where coverage is spotty. It took care of that problem easily. I did experience some slowness a few times on the devices that I had receiving signal from it. I found that adjusting the antennae helped. I could have placed it closer to my router, but I was in the sweet spot according to the SpotFinder. I also tested the gigabit wired connection on the bottom of the unit. Solid performance after making the adjustments I mentioned. The pass-through feature is great and it doesn't block the other outlet like some other extenders with pass-through that I've used. This unit is built well and does not feel cheap or flimsy. 2.4 and 5 GHz bands worked great, but the 2.4 GHz band seemed to get a better signal in my setup for some reason. I was pleased with the performance and I would recommend this product to my friends.

Just what I wanted in a wifi extender
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This design is just what I wanted in a wifi extender. I've wanted an extender to bring ease of implementation and mounting all in one. The fact that the RE6700 has the three prong AC power pass through is excellent. I did receive the Linksys AC1200 model RE6700 free of charge in return for an honest, unbiased review and this is truly what I intend here. At first I thought the unit was only managed by a Linksys cloud portal but that is not the case. I recommend once initial setup via http://extender.linksys.com is completed per the included Quick Start Guide, you should also access the RE6700 via its local hostname on your network for tuning some advanced settings. This is a big plus in my book as I would MUCH rather NOT use a cloud based SaaS to configure any of my network or local network devices. It's all about security, security, paranoid security. :) I Installed/mounted the extender to my homes AC outlet without losing the use of said outlet is awesome. Unlike other solutions, not having to run a power chord to a shelf to place the unit on opens up the possibilities of locations. The added features of a Gbps physical port and a stereo audio out port also takes this device to the next level of convenience. Now about the speed and range… it does an awesome job, I can roam my entire house and most of my property and not drop the signal from the network I using the RE6700 to extend.

Easy to set up, works pretty well
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Considering my house is only 1700 sf, I think the claim of up to 10,000 sf is overly optimistic, but the product does work. I now have 2 bars of wifi in my living room, whereas before I had none. Nowhere close to full range, though. Installation was extremely easy. Read the quick start guide, followed the very basic instructions and within 3 minutes, it was good to go. It was pricey for the results I received, but at least my cellular data plan won't get dinged sitting in my own living room.

Posted .Hi baseballmom,
Thank you for reviewing the Linksys wireless range extender. It is good to know that it improved your router's wireless range. For a stronger wireless signal, it is recommended to place the device at the location where it can at least three (3) bars from the router. The Linksys RE6700 extender also has the spot finder technology. It helps you find the best location for your device.

Easy to use and works well
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a problem with my WiFi connection to my Internet router. It was very slow, would drop out in the afternoon, and had lots of dropped packets. This Range extender fixed the problem. t was very easy to configure. I just plugged it into an outlet, connected to it's WiFi, and opened a webpage. The configuration did a site survey and allowed me to pick the SSID from my Internet router even though the signal was very weak. I configured the range extender to use the same SSID as my Internet router, and provide both 2.4GHz and 5GHz signals. When I was done, I just moved the range extender to an outlet closer to the Internet router. My computer was already configured to connect to the Internet router's WiFi connection so it automatically connected to the range extender since it was configured with the same settings as the Internet router but had a much stronger signal. With a connection through the range extender, my signal is strong, no disconnects, no dropped packets and no lag or delay.

Great and easy solution to boosting your Wi-Fi
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This extender is very easy to add range with speed to your existing Wi-Fi. Following the included easy to follow instructions I set this unit up in less than 5 minutes and a few moments to add devices to it. There is a spot finder app that is part ot the set up that shows if you placed the extender to a good location. The range is strong throughout my 2 story house and it extends signal to a couple of houses down the street. So if you need a signal to a large area this should help that helps with placement. Setup is as easy as plugging it in waiting a minute or two for a green light to stop blinking and change to solid. Connect to the Wi-Fi network: Linksys Extender Setup- (extender's Mac Address found on box or extender) Then typing extender.linksys.com in a browser and creating a password for the extender. (The only problem I had is getting back into the setup. Sometimes doesn't work. I believe it can be connected to via it's IP address, but I have not tried this as I have not needed to get back into the setup to change anything.) All my devices connect easily to this extender and I have not had a dropped signal. It says it has beam-forming to direct Wi-Fi direction. It does not have WPS to setup router connection. I have a Linksys EA 6900 Dual band AC 1900 which has a 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz network as well as a guest network. This extender will add 2 more networks with a _ext added to the existing name as default. This is renameable. It has a power outlet so you don't loose access to the one it uses. It has a jack for external speakers so you can stream music to it. I have not used this, but I can see someone wanting to connect sound from your network. Firmware came with v1.0.01.010 which is current. I tested my network on Gibson Research using Shields Up and I am still all stealth. Works with my PCs Macs IPods and IPads Apple TV Samsung and Sony streaming BluRays and Samsung Smart TV. I would recommend this if you are having a problem with your signal strength. Or just want to add two more networks. I received this extender as a free sample from Linksys in exchange for your honest feedback.

Simple to setup, does the job.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received this item from Linksys as a free review sample. It was pretty simply to install and setup although I have not used the audio streaming feature yet. The power pass through is nice so the unit does not take up a power socket.

Easy Setup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off I received this item free for my unbiased review with Linksys Friends and Family My previous experiences with WI-Fi extenders never reached my expectations. The Linksys AC1200 Amplify however fulfilled them all and then some. Product was well packaged and came with very easy to understand setup instructions. Setup was a breeze simple plug and play and a quick visit to the web site to complete the setup. Performance is excellent, extending both 2.4 and 5 GHZ channels to the far reaches of the house where previously only 2 bars strength was achievable. I was very impressed that even the 5 GHZ channel, that was previously undetectable in the dead zones was also available at full strength. The forward thinking design of placing an outlet on the front of the unit is a great feature, allowing one to plug in another device where limited outlets may exist. A built in gigabit Ethernet port on the bottom allows non-WI-Fi devices to connect seamlessly. Overall I am very happy with the performance of this extender and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to extend network coverage to fill in their dead zones.

Full Bars Everywhere
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received this device free of charge from Linksys in exchange for honest feedback. The extender was extremely easy to set up and was completed in less than 5 minutes. I have a large home (2300+ sq. ft.) and they're some dead Wi-Fi spots in the second floor of my home which is the furthest away from the router. The extender was able to find the signal and do what it states. I switched to the extender network with a tablet and used it to start a movie to see how it worked. No problems. Connected and streamed without a glitch. I am very surprised by how well it worked and the ease of setup. My only note would be that it seems a little strange looking plugged into the outlet, however the fact that it has an outlet built in so I don't lose the use of one is great. I would recommend this product.

Intermittent connectivity and failed in three mont
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was originally marginally satisfied. Setup was easy (I'm not an idiot and can follow simple instructions.) Although it did extend my network that much farther, it extended it enough so that my smart TV in bedroom which was originally just out of signal range was functional. However, after three months (or so) the SSID suddenly vanished (while we were activity connected to it.) I went back to it and it was flashing orange. I also noticed that my smart phone was no longer showing the .ext SSID. I went through the troubleshooting steps, reset it manually, and connecting directly to it via the Ethernet port on the bottom. And I still had no connection. I pinged the default IP and there was no response (when physically connected.) It was as if it decided it was just done. There are no further troubleshooting tips and I am assuming that it toast. In all, I am extremely dissatisfied with the product. I expect more from Linksys and would probably not buy anything from them ever again.

Excellent WiFi Range Extender
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received this as a free product from Linksys for an honest review. Very pleased and impressed with ease of set up onto existing wireless network. The written instructions and set-up link to router all were very easy to follow and to set up. I have a 1,650 Square foot home with a large Florida room and patio on the back of the house. During much of the year we entertain and spend as much time as possible outdoors on the patio or in the Florida room. Our WiFi signal was not always reliable or very strong in the back of the house on the patio. Now it is!!! The Linksys AC1200 AMPLIFY Dual-Band Wi-Fi Range Extender has eliminated any problems with receiving a reliable and strong WiFi signal in our Florida room and back patio areas. Very impressed with all aspects of this product!

Worth using, easy to set up
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.received a Linksys AC1200 Amplify Wi-Fi Range Extender free to review. I found it easy to setup right out of box. It definitely boosted my Wi-Fi signal. I went from one bar to three on my cellphone. Even better I can now use my printer from my bedroom! In the past my phone couldn't find the printer from there much less access it. This product is great.

It works for me. 4500 sq ft house
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setup was super easy!! At first I couldn't get it to work, I followed their instructions (moved the extender closer to the router), and chose the option "I don't need a second network" or something like that. So happy I get wifi upstairs in my house now. And it's faster in general

Could’ve been better
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So this device isn’t as it was allegedly capable of doing does it repeat the wireless yes does it help? I don’t think so. It seems to be a lot of latency when you connected to this device doesn’t really work as well as your wireless router would doesn’t repeat very well. I think this was kind of at the beginning of the error of adding access points back in 2018 here it is 2025 and access points have gotten a lot better manufacturers have developed them better and they work a lot stronger than they used to they actually amplify Wireless signals now versus back then so this device is probably outdated and this review is probably would not be well received so I do not recommend this device.

Works well but needs better documentation
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received this product from Linksys at no charge in exchange for an honest review so here goes: I eagerly awaited this as an upgrade to my previous extender which didn't seem to work on both 2.4 and 5Ghz bands. The RE6700 does work well so I now have full coverage throughout my house (split-level house with 3 levels, 2000 sq ft). I am deducting one star because the RE6700 comes only with a quick start guide. For the first week or two the indicator light on the front was alternating between green and amber. Finally, I took the time to find the full user manual online and I learned that the antennas are supposed to be oriented as follows: left is vertical, right is perpendicular to the RE6700. Since then I have had a solid green indicator and the product has worked fine. Note to Linksys: please don't leave out such an important point in the abridged manual that ships with the product.

Great Features - Great Coverage
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received this from Linksys at no charge for evaluation and an honest review. The setup is very easy using the phone app. It confirmed that the extender was installed in the correct location to give max coverage at max signal strength. I have been impressed with the range, as my wireless signal is strong even in my detached garage. No more dropped signals, and can stream my Roku with no problems. If you need to get a better signal, I would recommend the Linksys RE6700 AC1200 AMPLIFY Dual-Band Wi-Fi Range Extender.
