Excellent Wi-Fi Extender, easy setup.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received this free Wi-Fi Extender from Linksys 2 days ago and put it through the paces. First, it was very easy to setup. But, I ran into some problems and had to reset the Wi-Fi Extender. This was surprisingly easy to do. The biggest thing for setup is to be patient when you are waiting for the flashing light to turn solid. I tested the signal strength outside the house , through some brick walls and it still performed exceptionally well. Overall I give the AC1200 Wi-Fi an Excellent rating.

Very good WiFi range extender
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received this Linksys WiFi extender as a free sample in exchange for my feedback and I can honestly say this extender is worth the money. I live in a split level house so WiFi reception in certain areas has always been spotty. I have tried 2 other extenders with limited success so I was happy to give this one a shot. My son and daughter's computers are on the 3rd floor which is directly above my family room (where my router and cable modem are) but due to the house construction, the wifi signal is close to nothing. They are very reluctant to use their computers because of this. Enter the RE6700... I usually configure network devices manually but this came with WPS so I thought I'd give it a shot. Following the directions, I had the WiFi extender configured for both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands within 5 minutes. To test out the connection, I took the extender to the 2nd floor some 50 feet away from my router where I normally sit when using my laptop. After connecting, I noticed no degradation in performance of WiFi. Next I unplugged and took it to the 3rd floor near my kids room. I was somewhat skeptical it would be able to maintain a connection to my router some 2 floors away but the status light was a solid green. After configuring my kid's PCs for the extender, I ran Windows Update which had always been problematic in the past. Both PCs download updates fairly quickly and browsing was responsive as well. With past extenders, they would simply go offline and cease to function or maintain a constant connection to my router after a few days. This would lead to needing to unplug for a few minutes and sometimes reconfigure. I have had this plugged in for a week now and no issues in that regard. Having a pass thru for the plug is also a nice touch, no need to give up an outlet to use this device. All in all I'm very satisfied with this device thus far.

Great Design and Good Range
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Linksys 1200 Amplify is a great little Wi-Fi extender that installs easily and provides good Wi-Fi coverage in our Great Room and even out to the garage. Our extender is connected to a Linksys WRT1900 ACS wireless router which already provides wide Wi-Fi coverage and the Amplify complements that coverage quite nicely. We located ours towards the very rear area of our home so that it would support coverage to our back patio and we are delighted that it manages to provide good signal coverage to our entire back yard. The unique style with the very useful pass-through electrical plug comes in very handy for us as the Amplify is inserted in a receptacle that we routinely plug our vacuum cleaner in to tidy up. I have wirelessly connected my Roku box to the Amplify and video streaming is full on perfect at extended distances. The set-up App was easy to use and very useful. I received a free sample of the Amplify from Linksys in exchange for my honest feedback. The Linksys 1200 Amplify working in conjunction with the WRT1900 ACS is an absolute perfect solution for us and should correct most every Wi-Fi coverage problems.

Easy and effective way to extend your wi-fi
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device is easy to set up and works well even if you decide not to use its advanced settings. My old dual-band router that I was using as an access point on the far end of the house died and I had the opportunity to test this extender for free in exchange for my review. By default the automatic setup connected to my router by pairing the 2.4 GHz channels 1 and 6. I'm already using channel 6 for an ad hoc network and I didn't want interference. I used the extender's advanced settings to use the 5GHz band to link to my router and set my router to use channel 1 and the extender to channel 11, providing two non-overlapping channels. The extender is easy to set up in a few minutes and should work fine for most people even if you decide not to use the advanced settings. You connect to the extender using a computer, phone or tablet, select your network and enter the password and within minutes your extended network is online. I placed mine about 60 feet from my router with a wall between the two and now have effective coverage on both bands inside the house and into the far corners of the backyard. Before the extender the 5GHz band was not reliably usable there. Because the extender shares the same channel(s) as your router, the maximum speed at which it can pass data will be less than that of your router. For me it worked flawlessly to connect my phone and tablet streaming video on both. The extender has one Ethernet port and also the ability to directly connect to wireless speakers. I did not test these features. In summary, this is an effective, easy-to-use product that should satisfy both network novices and those with more advanced networking experience.

Reliable, strong signal amplifier, dual band A+++
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will start this review by simply stating the following. The Setup: This LINKSYS RE6700 AC1200 amplifier is definitely a huge improvement over the previous models in the fine line of LINKSYS products, it's ridiculously easy to set up (No CD needed) All you need to do is unpack this unit from the box, plug it to your wall outlet and give a solid 2-3 minutes boot up time, after that, you simply log into this LINKSYS RE6700 AC1200 amplifier by entering the printed/provided login information and password (look for it on the device itself or the box it came in). It's that easy. After you do that, it will take you to the GUI (interface) and all you have to do is just provide your current-existing network (Wi-fi) credentials and boom, the new network shows up in your devices with an (EXT) name after whatever the name of your current network is. But you can also change it during the set up and name it whatever you choose it to be, and that's it, you are done and ready to surf the internet with this amplifier that provides dual band for newer and older devices (2.4Ghz- most devices use this band) and of course the amazing blazing fast 5Ghz band that if you're near your router or this LINKSYS amplifier it will provide you with a blazing speedy internet connection to browse, watch videos, or do whatever you want with that speed. I timed how long it took me to set up this device and the result for me was between 5 -6 solid minutes (booting up and configuring the network) and testing it of course. Stability/Price: The reason I'm giving it a 4 star though is because I did have to reset this device since the initial connection and set up took place at least once, for some reason it dropped my connection altogether, but then i realized my router was about 35ft away from it, and the doors were closed and my walls are very thick, so maybe that was on me, but either way, I've left my door open since that time and no drops have occurred since then, I've also push it's capacity by testing it for a up to 12 hrs with the doors closed and it doesn't drops the connection, maybe it was just a hiccup, maybe it was my router, but I'm skeptical, and if I do see at least another 3-5 drops I will definitely review my rating. The other reason I also awarded this device a 4 star rating was because of the price tag, while it's not the most expensive out there, I believe these should be more affordable, they are so helpful for every dead spot in the house that I understand why it has to be priced at the current price out there, but just a personal point of view. Range/Devices: Anyways, I've tested this with my iPad, Droid tablet, iPhone, etc, and the range is significantly expanded and consistently delivering 5 solid bars of signal throughout my 3,600sqf 2 story property, this is impressive for such a small device, and the added bonus on this device?, the outlet it has in the front saves me from using another ugly power extension, this is why I also gave it a 4 star, this is so helpful, thank you LINKSYS for thinking about that small but very important detail. On my desktop and laptop which are currently using Windows 7 and Windows 10 OS, the speeds are being delivered on point! no complaints from me there. Overall I thin this is well built device, it's solid, and I definitely see it has features not found in other current extenders and it's great alternative if you don't want to use another router as an AP (access point) or repeater. This is well worth the money but still, it'd be nice if they were a bit lower in price. Please also note I received this device sample free of cost in exchange for my unbiased honest review. Thank you, have a great day.

Worked well for 5 months, after that, no more.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Initially, I was very pleased. It was easy to set up in my 2-story home and to find a good location that provided a strong signal to the upstairs. My Xfinity gateway Arris TG1682G is located downstairs on a high shelf. Extender RE6700 AC1200 worked very well, located upstairs in outlet near floor no more than 30 feet away. I could stream movies on my smart Samsung TV upstairs and connect with multiple iPhones and laptops simultaneously. For the past month, none of my devices has been able to sustain a connection. I moved the extender into an outlet directly above the gateway so I could connect to the TV with an ethernet cable. It worked for 3 minutes and dropped the signal. I tested whether it was the extender or gateway by plugging an Amazon Firestick into the TV and connecting to the gateway, and it works beautifully. That's when I called Linksys CS and was walked through a complete reset process. Afterwards, the extender looks like it is connected (solid green light) but none of my devices will stay connected. I was frustrated with the CS person as he followed his procedures rather than listening to me explain my efforts to narrow down the source to the extender. Now, I have to call again and explain again and hope that they agree it is defective and should be replaced. If not, I wasted $100.

I had complete indoor wireless coverage, but I wanted to extend coverage out by the pool. Installation was simple. Installation was smooth and now my coverage is complete.

Solved a Signal Strength Problem - Fire Stick
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received this product free in return for honest feedback. When I first asked to be included as a reviewer, I thought I could use it to improve my signal in the kitchen which is the furthest point from my router. I had tried using an Amazon Fire Stick in the kitchen and it was buffering, so I had to move it closer to the router. After I received and set up the AC1200 extender, I tried the Amazon Fire Stick in the kitchen again. With the regular router signal, the Fire Stick showed a signal that was “Marginal” to “Not in Range”, but the signals (2.4 + 5.0) from the new extender both displayed as “Very Good”. I selected one of the 2 signals from the extender and I saw no buffering from using the Fire Stick there. The set-up instructions were very good and easy for me to follow. My first location choice was too far from the router, and the on-screen instructions clearly indicated that. When I moved the extender to another location, the screen that displayed stated at the top that “we will continue once we see a connection”, which was a little misleading. The extender reconnected to the router (the light indicated that), but nothing happened automatically. I had to manually launch set-up again. If I would have read a little further after that beginning message, I would have realized that I had to launch set-up again. I moved it one more time before finding the best location. This extender helped me with a problem and I would recommend it.

Great Wifi Extender
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received this Wifi Extender from Linksys for free to write this review. Used this to extended my wifi to every corner of our lot including the garage with great access and throughput. The 1G Ethernet port is a plus and the wireless playback added another nice feature. Setup was follow instruction in box, plug in to AC, open web browser on PC, tablet, or phone then follow on screen prompts.

Faster outside with the Range Extender
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the record, I received this product for free from Linksys in exchange for my feedback on it. I've used this product outside in my backyard (on the patio) three times now since initially setting it up, which was quite a simple process (using your existing Wi-Fi router password). I have to say I definitely notice a positive difference in range and connectivity. Without it, sometimes my reception straight from the Wi-Fi router drops and I experience internet service disruptions (connectivity problems such as pages taking too long to load or timing out). With this product I'm able to get a consistent signal. For the distance away from it that I am (approximately 15', but also around the corner of a structure), I would anticipate a full signal, and while this is usually the case, sometimes it drops one bar (this is on a laptop, so it could have something to do with the laptop's Wi-Fi capabilities too). The connection does not seem to be interrupted however, and that is the main thing. It is possible that my occasional loss of signal also has to do with the orientation I have to use when plugging the device into power. My outlets are only sideways, so I'm forced to orient it sideways. I also have a plastic protector over the outlets which then has to sit atop the Range Extender when plugged in. The sideways orientation and plastic protector may have an impact on the designed functionality of the antennae. Most people would probably not have this problem and would be able to plug it in as intended. I would advise anyone using this product outdoors to unplug it when you're done with it and bring it back inside with you until your next use. Mostly so it doesn't get stolen. Also of course to minimize exposure to weather and other potential hazards (flying debris, etc.). I'm sure it is weather-proof to some degree and designed to hold up long-term against the elements, but I like to be cautious. Unplugging it, at least from my outlets and in the orientation I have to have it (sideways) is rather difficult - you'll have to really pull to get it out. I see that as a good thing (it's not going anywhere while plugged in) and a not-so-good thing (if you're not very strong, you might have a real difficulty with this; also, there's a very likely possibility that when you do pull it, you will fall backwards or bump into something - I was pulling so hard the first time I unplugged that I actually slammed the edge of the Range Extender into the side of my house). All in all, I enjoy using this product, which ultimately improves my connection when I'm not indoors. I rate it a 4 out of 5 stars overall due to the positive benefits, but I think it could be improved by having an adjustable three-prong plug that can better accommodate sideways outlets, so that in my case, and possibly others’, the device orientation is vertical as intended, instead of horizontal.

Great way to provide additional wi-fi coverage!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Linksys RE6700 was easy to setup and get attached to my home network. An easy solution to add additional coverage. This one is providing coverage in a basement theater room. Contemplating getting another one to provide better signal/coverage to two bedrooms on the other side of the house.

Great data rate increase and easy setup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this as a free sample from Linksys to try and out and give my honest feedback and I absolutely love it. The setup process was very easy to follow. It was up and running in less than 5 minutes. I live in a relatively small house so the problem with WiFi wasn't that I got too far away but that I live in a townhome complex so there are close to 20 routers on conflicting bands nearby that decrease my SNR pretty significantly. On the 5GHz band I got ~50% increase and on the 2.4GHz band I got ~40% increase in upload and download data rate. This product is fantastic for things that don't move around the house like a desktop computer or gaming system but, to no fault of this device, for things like your phone or laptop that go in and out of range of the extender and primary router you have to be aware of what SSID your device is trying to connect to. While it's easy to manually change which WiFi source your phone is connecting to it is just a little inconvenient. Overall, by using this I can reliably and quickly connect to the Internet throughout my house now without having to use my phone's LTE connection which has been very convenient and has saved my phone bill.

Vastly Better Coverage; Inside and Out
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a home office upstairs in my two story house with a desktop PC (Really!). Desktop PC and, of course, my Linksys wireless router are hardwired, however, router located in PC desk credenza which restricts signal strength to other parts of the house. Also utilize a tablet, smart phone and smart TV’s in other parts of the house but wireless signal was pretty woeful given the situation. Had a cheap range extender which improved the wireless signal somewhat but felt I could do better. The Linksys RE6700 AC 1200 range extender improved my signal significantly. Tablet and smart phone now get a maximum signal throughout the house inc. the basement and onto the patio. In fact, the signal is even strong to the front and back lawns! Smart TV performance also vastly improved. Notwithstanding its very good performance, set-up left something to be desired. Muddled my way through and got it installed but I never found the “Spot Finder Technology” so just moved it around until I got the strongest signal. Great product but set-up and installation could be improved.

Great Features and Easy to Use!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Linksys RE6700 AC1200 AMPLIFY Dual-Band Wi-Fi Range Extender This product was provided to me to review. The instructions and software were straight forward and easy to use. Before the Extender, we had a problem getting any reception in the back yard or in the basement on Iphones or Ipads. The software helped position the extender in the Kitchen and after getting it set up we now have full strength on the Iphone and Ipad in both of these locations. Our computers already had full strength in these locations before installing the Extender so I did not see any improvement there. Did have a slight problem of devices switching back and forth from router to extender while using it. Having an Ethernet outlet in the Extender was very useful and allowed us to connect a computer anywhere without having to run a wire. General impressions are that it was easy to install and setup and works very well!! Would highly recommend this product if you have weak or dead spots in your home or office.

Wi-Fi Dead Spot Gone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Regarding the following, I received a free sample from Linksys in exchange for my honest feedback... For over a year, I've been unable to get my Home Theater System AV receiver's built in internet radio to connect. Likewise, out of frustration, I had simply given up trying to connect. Last week I received the Linksys AC1200 Amplify Wi-Fi Range Extender. Upon following a few simple steps within the Quick Start Guide, connection to my router was very easy. Afterwards, I connected my Home Theater System AV Receiver directly into the Linksys AC1200 Amplify Wi-Fi Range Extender's Ethernet Gigabit Port, and now I'm receiving FREE internet radio from virtually every country around the world. More importantly, each station streams super fast, within several seconds!!! Overall, the Linksys AC1200 Amplify Wi-Fi Range Extender has expanded a whole new world of entertainment right in the comfort of my living room... My Wi-Fi dead spot is finally gone... Nice and small!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received this unit as a complimentary sample from Linksys directly. In return, the company asked that I provide an unbiased, unpaid, non-financial obligation review. Packaging: The unit comes nicely packed in its box. The outside of the box has enough info to give you an idea of what the unit does and the specs are well detailed. The unit is nicely wrapped in a cushion-able white material that prevents further shifting or scuffing of the unit while in the box. Instructions: The instructions provided are very brief. The quick starting guide gives you basic instructions along with pictures on how to get the unit going. Linksys needs to update these instructions with more detailed info or pictures on how to move the antennas. I was afraid to move the antennas when I was setting up the unit. It took me a couple of tries to get the unit going as I could not get the unit to come up on my iPhone 6+. Coverage: The unit performs quite well. I have pretty fast Internet service. The unit delivers data quite fast and is limited to what current industry Wi-Fi speeds are. There is an Ethernet option at the bottom of the unit to help expand coverage. Summary: If you need to extend your network signal, this is the unit to get. Not expensive and not cheap. It is priced right and you will not regret buying it.

Beyond Expectations
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me first say that I received a free sample from Linksys in exchange for my honest feedback. Quite honestly I was a bit intimidated when I received my product. Was it going to be hard or confusing to install and get working? (I tend to get intimidated by electronics hardware.) Turned out to be a breeze. I took my time and followed the directions exactly and had no problems connecting the device. I plugged it into a bedroom diagonally opposite of where my modem/router is, waited for the green light and went out into my backyard with my tablet. The connection was easy to find and I pulled up a movie on Netflix to test the range. Movie streamed fine and decided to walk around the outside of my house to see what it would do and the connection didn't skip or lag one bit! Amazing! I am very impressed with this extender. Very pleased I can now enjoy wifi on my back deck and get some work done outdoors.

I can’t thank Linksys enough for the opportunity to test this Linksys LAN Range Extender equipment/device. Good product, good company.
