Range extender

I bought this to extend range out to my yard and pool so that we can stream music and videos over wifi. This allowed me to extend range of our home wifi by a few hundred feet and I've been very happy with the functionality.

Good Product But...

I noticed a little improvement for my wifi, but nothing major. If you have DSL and already have a router I wouldn't go spending $100 dollars on this. I can't speak for those who have Xfinity or Fios.

Junk extender

It does not show up on my computer's list of wifi connections, so there is no way to connect it. A simple install would be nice, but not happening. After googling, I get geek info that does me no good

Limited Lifespan

I reset a couple times with success (not that one should even have to do such a thing). It was only about a year or less and it went completely INOP. Just junk. Find another option.

horrible and rude customer support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this product to obtain a stronger wifi signal in my house and after having no effect on improvement for that signal, I called LINKSYS customer support where the agent who is located in the Phillipines with a strong accent was inpatient, rude and beligerent to me where she then hung up. When I called back, to report this, the customer service dept seemed unconcerned yet said they would contact me via email so I can formally reply. They failed to do so! Because of this, I am taking this product back to Best Buy where I bought it to get my money back I would NEVER buy a LINKSYS product again!

Never got it to work

I was never able to get past the first few steps, as the device refused accept the inputs I was providing for my networks. I finally called the help desk, and they were not able to help either. They said that since I had a non-alphabet character in my wifi security code, that the device would not work. I took out the (-) dash, but still no luck. I did some research and this device was built for Windows 7 and Windows 8. I took it back to BestBuy and got a different Wifi extender by Netgear and I was up and running in 15 minutes! I am using the extender network now. BestBuy gave me credit towards my new device with no hassles. Great customer support best buy! I would recommend this device to my unfriends. :-).. JT

I do not recommend this extender
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.It appears that this extender will only last 2 months. I purchased one at Best Buy in July 2016. It failed in September 2016 and was replaced by Linksys under warranty. The replacement extender has now (November 2016) failed in the exact same way. Through-put drops and the only other noticed issue in both units is the clock would not be on the correct date and time. I don't wish to keep paying to send these back every 2 months. In a short time i could buy another brand. I tried to get a refund from Linksys, but after 90 days from the original purchase, you cannot. For the Linksys person that reviews and responds to these, my original case number in September was 07016596 and RMA was AR01558122.

Works as long as its close to the router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was hoping this extender would allow me to work througout my entire house since my current router is at one end of the house and I get a major drop in speed when working at the other end. The problem with this extender is that it seems like it has to be within 20 feet of the router or I get the flashing amber or solid amber lights telling me to move it closer. I have tried it in every room in my house and the furthest I can get away from the router is 1 room. So I still don't get good signal at the opposite end of the house. Pretty useless for what I need. This will be going back to the store.

There is a possibility that signal interference is what's causing the limited signal coverage of the range extender. It is recommended to place the range extender half way where the main router is and the location where you want the Wi-Fi to be extended. It is also suggested that the range extender has a direct line of sight to the main router to have uninterrupted connection.

Could not get to link with ASUS router.

I tried to install the RE6700 using the WPS and the browser directions. I tried both directions several times following the direction carefully. When I couldn't get the RE6700 to link with my ASUS router I call Linksys customer service. They were very helpful going over the directions and even talking me through changing some settings on my router. Even though Linksys Customer Service were very helpful they could not help me to link the RE6700 to my router. They said I had to call the router manufacturer for help in linking up the RE6700.

Cut my internet speed in half

Get the NETGEAR AC1200
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Spot finder is a joke, took 30 mins searching online to figure out how to use it, then it just showed the same "just right" until it completely lost signal and then crashed the router set up page. The router can't be accessed at 192.168.1.1 like every other router in the market. I bought this to replace a Netgear that got damaged. Placing this extender in the exact same place it wouldn't work at all, or even 20ft closer to the router. I returned this and got the NETGEAR AC1200 and everything works perfectly.

It is odd that the Spot Finder tool didn't prompt you if the range extender is too far or too close from the router. RE6700 unresponsive after 5 months

After that it started dropping a signal and I had to reset frequently. I've read other reviews that say its from interference... but it was only about 30 feet from the router. Now, 5 months later it is completely unresponsive. It blinks green but does not show up in my networks, will not reset even after holding the button down for 2 minutes, and the connect button does not work. I hope they replace this.

Didn't work for me
