Not sure what magic was used to bring this level of detail and vibrancy to this old movie but I'll take it. This movie blows the 1080p copy out of the jungle. Very detailed, HDR shines, deep blacks, colors pop. This is a must have.

Now you remember the Lion King and its still a great movie. Love it.

I love Disney movies and I’m so glad that Best Buy has the BEST price on the steel book. Not to mention it came with the rising of simba on pride rock film slip! The picture looks amazing and I know that my nostalgic to go is going to be protected by the steel book:)

It’s a classic! That alone is a must have! Video is dynamically beautiful. Audio is equally amazing! A must have for any one, any couple, any family, and child! Masterpiece.

A family classic of Disney digital remastered great to add on your collection even with digital copy included

I love this movie. My number one favorite Disney movie. I was so excited when I found out there was going to a steelbook version of this film. I love collecting steelbook movies. But, when I got it delivered by mail, the steelbook case came damaged and it is folded. The side of the front cover is almost coming off. It's like someone punched the case.

Watching "The Lion King" in UHD is like seeing it for the first time. I remember as a boy, I watched "The Lion King" in the theater while visiting my aunt, and it astounded me: every point in my emotional spectrum was hit. When it came out on home video, my siblings and I regularly watched it on VHS while visiting my cousins across town, and we all would sing along, especially to the bouncy tunes of "I Just Can't Wait to be King" and "Hakuna Matata". Then when I was in college, the DVD format took off, and I remember getting goosebumps during the "Be Prepared" musical number. Shortly after I got married, "The Lion King" made its majestic debut in glorious Blu-ray 3D, and I definitely "could feel the love that night", as the video and audio never looked and sounded so clear - and I was surprisingly impressed with how traditional 2D animation looked in 3D with the characters and surrounding environment literally jumping off the screen (Why, oh why did Disney stop releasing Blu-ray 3D in the US?!?!?!). From the moment I pressed play to watch "The Lion King" in 4K, the color spectrum and the picture clarity simply took my breath away during the opening number "Circle of Life". Warm colors were warmer, dark colors were darker, and bright colors were brighter as every color in the rainbow splashed on the screen. While you won't miss out on anything if you pick up the standard 4K release of "The Lion King", I personally picked up the steelbook edition because of the beloved traditional hand-drawn characters printed all over the case. I only wish the new image of Simba on the standard 4K release was put in the center of the cover instead of the recycled images of Simba and Scar from last year's release. It is undisputed that "The Lion King" is one of the greatest Disney films, and it is also one of the greatest stories ever told. When you see it in 4K, "The Lion King" gets the royal presentation it most richly deserves.

If you're a Disney collector, the Lion King like most Disney movies should be in your collection. This movie is just all around incredible from the music scores to storytelling. You have great people in this movie like James Earl Jones playing mufasa. Matthew Broderick doing the voice of Simba. A father sacrifice to save his child and the child to self-exile himself is just unheard of. Disney pushed the balance on this to show that even if you take a chance, that chance can be well worth it and the friends that you can make along the way, or even that much more worth it. As a collector of Disney movies, I don't own all the Disney movies, but I do own the live version of Lion King which is not as good as the classic Disney cartoon. The only thing I wish they would do is make Lion King one and a half and Lion King 2 on Blu-ray or 4K HD.

The Lion King is one of the greatest animated films of all time, yet they managed to make it better with 4K. This film needs no thoughts on the story as nearly everyone has seen it, but from a 4K standpoint it is unbelievable how much sharper and vibrant this film looks. 25 years later and with the upgrades 4K look it could trick anyone into thinking it was released last year. As for the steelbook it is a very unique design aside other steelbook. Highlighting Simba and Scar on the cover with drawings of the various other characters and scenes covering the rest of it. Inside you get a fantastic picture from the signature “Circle of Life” sequence. This is a MUST BUY for anyone that wants to build their Disney 4K collection, a Lion King fan, or steelbook collectors.

The better of the two versions of this film. Very good story and a great story based off of Shakespeare and his famous hamlet play. If you liked that story watch this too and see the differences between the original and disneys take on it

A timeless animated Classic Archived on the Best Latest format! The 4K UHD is definitely worth the upgrade! Brilliant HDR picture with vibrant colors, saturation and Brightness. This timeless classic also got the Dolby Atmos Surround Mix it truly deserves. Very High quality music and effects complete with overhead surround makes this new edition totally worth an upgrade! I've purchased this movie in every format VHS, DVD,BLURAY and now 4K BluRay and have never regretted spending the money. from this 4K disc, it looks and sounds better than ever and deserves a place on your shelf.

It's the movie you grew up with and remember fondly for all the funny things, all the sad things, and all the wrong things. Just like any other Disney movie, you pick up on things as an adult that flew past your head as a kid--but all the same, every bit of nostalgia is warranted. For an animated masterpiece such as this, the colors are as vibrant, the animal movements are sleek, and it ages well for today's kids looking to see what their parents were watching (assuming they still respect that sort of thing). Highly recommended.

At first glance from a distance the front artwork of Scar v Simba doesn’t look like anything to write home about, but as you get closer and start noticing the different pieces of concept art they’ve managed to cram onto this Steelbook you really start the appreciate the hours and hours of craftsmanship that it would have taken to pull off a movie of this scale back in the 90’s. The film is a classic, that goes without saying, and any self-respecting Steelbook collector won’t be disappointed about adding this to their collection.

In my opinion, the Lion King, is the best anime ever made. Other anime have come close but not yet. The Lion King has everything, it's about a young cub trying to find himself, he gets into all type of mischief with his close friend Narla. Throughout this movie, Simba, wants to be just like his father until tragedy befalls him and his father is killed. Simba now has lost all hope and with the help of several friends he has to find the true king within himself. This is a must see movie that you will never forget.

Classic movie. Everyone needs to have watched at least once

A classic. Not much needs to be said about this movie. Can't what they do with the live action version later this year. Interesting part of my childhood growing up. What kid didn't love the lion king. Watched it so many times now, but at the same time haven't seen it in years. It was good to have a nice refresher. Superb steelbook as well. Obviously this review speaks for itself. Highly Recommended!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My wife picked this one up, honestly I figured "whatever" since it was "just" a 4k update. Man, was I wrong! Everything about the movie is better. Much cleaner lines, the animation really shines, the motion is so crisp and fluid, the highlites are great, the colors and dark details are very good. It was almost like seeing it for the first time again. If you're on the fence about this one, don't be!
