Lights' best work to-date

Little Machines is a both a departure and a natural progression for Lights. As a whole piece of work, this record is her best to date. Overall much more up-beat, the tempo rarely slows. The opening track "Portal" is a nice but misleading prelude to the rest of the album: slow, mesmerizing and haunting. There's a sense of new found confidence that is exudes from each track and is personified in "Speeding" and "How We Do It" and she takes her brand of synth-pop to new heights. Overall this is a solid anthemic album that will have you singing along the whole way through. I do recommend finding the 3 bonus tracks on the album that are not on the Best Buy version. They too are great and not mere B-Sides.

Although Lights is not a new artist, just under played, they definitely need to get more play. The album grabbed me and dragged me along with it. I was sort of "Shmh" on the first listen then after the second listen I was grabbed.
Heartfelt at times, Sad but not too sad, I started to believe the honesty that the lyrics foretold yet at the same time the lilt of the music stood on its own. As a part time DJ at a local Radio Station Lights has made the playlist and each time I hear it I can't stop grooving a little in my seat.

"Little Machines" is a great follow-up to Lights previous release, "Siberia". While departing from the heavily dubstep-influenced sound of her sophomore effort, "Little Machines" shines with its maturity complexity. It's a cohesive album, with the tracks blending from one into another, without a loser in the bunch.
The story behind the album is also intriguing, one of new beginnings, writer's block, panic, desperation and hope. I would encourage researching those origins of "Little Machines" to truly feel the whole experience.
Standout tracks include: Portal, Muscle Memory, Oil and Water

Little Machines is a very strong album from Canadian performer Lights. Good mixture of electro/pop, catchy songs that reflect the joy and struggles as she to matures, Reflecting the growing pains of her life as a new mom, touring and maintaining a functional family while traveling the globe.
Running with boys, Speeding, Portals, Up We Go. Slow Down are some of favorites. If you enjoy fun and catchy songs i would highly recommend this.

She is an incredible musician. She is very talented. Its true that she does a lot of electronical stuff to her voice and music. But look up any of her acoustic stuff and she will blow you away! Love this new cd. She is somebody you have to see live

I've been a fan of Lights since her first EP was released. I was wondering how she would top Siberia, but Little Machines didn't let me down. I picked it up on my way out of town on business and it didn't leave my car's CD player for the rest of the five day trip. Great tunes and great production.

From start to finish I do not feel the need to skip any song. The lyrics are unique. Nothing about this cd reminds me of any other band/music, it's an original. Lights has hit it out of the park.
